A Very Messy Motel Brothers Wedding - out now

Come back to Cherry Creek for 20,000 words of shenanigans, angst, and the wedding you've been waiting for. A Very Messy Motel Brothers Wedding is one last look at all your favorites before we leave them to their own devices in Cherry Creek. There's plenty of Cameron being a twit, James being an ass, Andy being Andy, and Dr. Parker Alling being...well... himself.

Secrets in Edgewood!

The boxset is finally here, and it was lovely to revisit all seven of the men I wrote about in 2019. In exciting news, I am currently working with a new and amazing narrator to bring all three of these stories to audible. Christopher Rourke has been a joy to work with so far, and he's almost wrapped production on The Cost of Desire, which means A Taste of Sin is already pending audible approval, and A Love Made Whole is next on the calendar. I can't wait to share more news about these releases, and I promise you'll love the stories even more this time around. More news to follow!
In the meantime, you can pick up a copy of the box set here - http://mybook.to/edgewood

Author Spotlight - Allison Temple
Hello to Allison Temple!

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I live in Toronto with my very patient husband and our goofy rescue dog Manny. I learned to play the tuba when I was 12. I learned to crochet was I was 36. I'm powerless in the face of cookies, want all my books to be super happy and fluffy, but I like my TV shows to be dark and twisty.
How would you describe your brand? What makes one of your books inherently YOU?
For a long time I used the tagline "Awkward and thoroughly kissable." My books are all pretty slice of life, steamy but always sweet. I like to tackle real world problems, so most of my main characters are just average guys who don't like their jobs or are secretly pining for the hot neighbour. No billionaires or Navy SEALS here (but never say never). I love to make people laugh, so in an Allison Temple book, you'll always get humour and heart. I want people to have that happy sigh feeling when they're done reading.
Tell us about what you're currently working on.
I've got big projects planned for 2021. I'm dipping some toes into sci-fi and fantasy, but I've also got a cute slice of life coffee shop romance, and I'm hoping to try out some extreme sports romance set in a sailing race around the world.
If you could dream cast your favorite book into a movie, whether yours or someone else's - what book would it be and who would you cast?
I'm so bad at fan casting. I just want to say Richard Armitage for everyone.
What is the weirdest place you've ever written before?
I tend to write sex scenes in public places. It's not intentional, it just seems to happen. I wrote some truly hot stuff sitting at the Mazda dealership waiting for an oil change.
What does the writing process look like for you? What comes first? How do you start? When do you know you have a good idea vs a dream?
So there's what I want my process to look like and what it actually is. The meet-cute almost always comes first for me. My writing flows best when I also know what the ending will look like. I'd say I like to plan out detailed plots, but at this point I think we have to admit that's a lie. Once I know what each character wants, I usually just write until I hate it, then write some more. When I get really stuck, I write a sex scene, even if I don't wind up keeping it. In real life, sex doesn't always fix things, but in my writer brain it does a pretty good job.
If you could write about any character or story that you haven't written about yet, what would it be and why?
So I have this truly out-there space western idea that I'm dying to write. It's like Firefly meets Butch & Sundance. It's epic and amazing, includes industrial espionage, escapes through outer space, and maybe even an orgy? It's the sort of thing I'd have to excuse myself from society to write though. I'd go all GRRM (except I'd finish) and go off grid and emerge from the woods in two years with a complete series lol.
Which of your characters do you think is the most under appreciated and why?
I think the character who got the toughest reviews is Seb from Top Shelf. People said is was kind of a jerk, and I'm here sitting on the other side of my computer screen thinking "Yup, he really was." He's like a cat: Intensely attached to the people he cares about, and willing to claw off the faces of anyone who pisses him off. I love how he finds a softer, kinder side for Martin, while still continuing to be inherently himself.
What is your favorite book? One of yours and one of someone else's.
Like forever and ever? My all-time top favourite is The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. In romance, I'm a bit obsessed with the Arden St. Ives series by Alexis Hall. Of my books...this is mean. I'll say Honeymoon Sweet because it's the most intrinsically "me" book I've written, but Avery from Hot Potato is my favourite character.
Favorite show to binge watch?
I've watched The Haunting of Hill House like 10 times.
What movie have you seen more times than you want to admit?
My go-to mindless comfort watch is Pride & Prejudice & Zombies.
Favorite quote or song lyric:
I use "I just want you to feel you're doing well." from The Princess Bride a lot.
Is there anything else you want anyone to know?
Tacos are the perfect food.

Author Spotlight - C.P. Harris
It's a brand new month and we're kicking things off with C.P. Harris! Welcome!

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I’m a foodie and I rarely (like twice a year) watch TV.
How would you describe your brand? What makes one of your books inherently YOU?
My books are heavily centered around the MC’s and are highly emotional. I don’t shy away from my characters gray area’s either.
Tell us about what you're currently working on.
Student/Teacher romance that begins senior year in HS and carries through college.
If you could dream cast your favorite book into a movie, whether yours or someone else's - what book would it be and who would you cast?
The Captive Prince trilogy. Timothee Chalamet as Laurent. I’ll have to get back to you on Damen lol.
What is the weirdest place you've ever written before?
The bathroom
What does the writing process look like for you? What comes first? How do you start? When do you know you have a good idea vs a dream?
It starts with a great opening line. It’ll just come to me. I base the idea for the story around that line, then I think up the ending. Once that’s in order, I day dream for weeks. Jotting down scenes. Once I think I have enough to work with, I breakout the laptop.
If you could write about any character or story that you haven't written about yet, what would it be and why?
The perfect small town with something hidden beneath, because I hate perfection. I love unearthing the ugly.
Which of your characters do you think is the most under appreciated and why?
Hmmm, as of today I’ve only published one book, and I believe both Damon and Justin were pretty appreciated.
What is your favorite book? One of yours and one of someone else's.
My second release (can’t say the name just yet). The second part if tough. I have at least ten books I can name, but I’ll go with The Captive Prince by CS Pacat (the whole trilogy).
Favorite show to binge watch?
I rarely watch TV but when I do it’s The Golden Girls.
What movie have you seen more times than you want to admit?
The Goonies
Favorite quote or song lyric:
Strength, courage, and wisdom is inside of me.

Author Spotlight - Tanya Chris
Happy Sunday! Today we welcome Tanya Chris.

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I write under two pen names: Tanya Chris (plot and character driven romance) and T. M. Chris (kink driven erotica). I genre hop, so I've got everything from contemporary to time travel to BDSM to Regency to triplecest. You never know what you're going to get with me.
How would you describe your brand? What makes one of your books inherently YOU?
Strong characters in a mix of sweet and hot. Some of my books veer more toward sweet and others more toward hot, but I like to mix hot into the sweet and sweet into the hot, so you always get both.
Tell us about what you're currently working on.
My September release will be a fantasy, which is yet another new genre for me. It's funny - almost slapstick - but it's also a poignant redemption story. And then in October (if I can get my act together), I'm releasing a BDSM book which started in Kate's group. During a takeover, I asked for plot elements (character names, kinks, etc.) and got so many I made a whole book out of them called Kitchen Sink Dom - because the whole kitchen sink ended up in there.
If you could dream cast your favorite book into a movie, whether yours or someone else's - what book would it be and who would you cast?
I'm terrible at knowing who actors are. They're all named Chris, right? So I can't do a dream cast, but I can tell you which of my books would make the best movie and that's Manners & Mannerisms. It's a lot like Pride & Prejudice. It's not a retelling of that story but it has the same kinds of scenes - picnics and balls and dinner parties - and I feel like M/M deserves an extravagant, romantic period piece.
What is the weirdest place you've ever written before?
I can't think of anything outside of coffee shops, airplanes, people's houses, and hotel rooms. Are any of those weird?
What does the writing process look like for you? What comes first? How do you start? When do you know you have a good idea vs a dream?
A story starts with a germ - a situation or character or trope. I mentally build outward from there until I get a sense of how big the story is. Because I write at all lengths - from short stories I post free on my website to full length novels - every plot bunny can work. I write a paragraph or two about it in my Ideas doc and then it sits there until it gets slotted into an available time slot. Once I start writing, I make it up as I go. The paragraph I jotted down in my Ideas doc is all the outline I ever do.
If you could write about any character or story that you haven't written about yet, what would it be and why?
I've got a loose idea for a cat shifter who solves mysteries. I want to write him but he's not clear enough yet.
Which of your characters do you think is the most under appreciated and why?
Bryce in Among Heroes. He's a smartass, so some people take a quick dislike to him, but if you look at his actions, not his words, he's a champion of the underdog and always the first to pitch in when help is needed. He definitely exercises oblivious male privilege at times, but he listens and grows.
What is your favorite book? One of yours and one of someone else's.
My favorite M/M book is For Real by Alexis Hall, which I realize isn't very original. My favorite book of mine is... I don't know. Aftercare has made me the most money, so I can't help being fond of it, but I'm most proud of Predestination Unknown, and the one I most enjoy reading is Pledged, which is a short spanking thing I could read over and over. When I write my kinkier T. M. Chris books, it's usually to scratch my own itch.
Favorite show to binge watch?
I don't watch TV. My favorite waste of time at the moment is a coloring app called Gallery.
What movie have you seen more times than you want to admit?
Valley Girl
Favorite quote or song lyric:
"The only way out is through."

Author Spotlight - Susan Mac Nicol
I'm very excited to welcome Susan Mac Nicol this week!

Tell us a little bit about yourself: Hmmm. My kids describe as eccentric, with a dark sense of humour. I'm a writer, an editor, a day jobber, a lover of theatre, Gothic anything, and Victorian England is the place I'd love to have lived as long as I was rich. It's so rich with creativity and intrigue.
How would you describe your brand? What makes one of your books inherently YOU?
I love writing sass and snark and my characters love spewing it out. But I also love dark and gritty, hence my predilection to often writing angst ridden stories. I'm well known for both.
Tell us about what you're currently working on.
A supernatural, sassy romance about a zoologist and a being not from this world. It will contain penguins, antique shopping excursions and a whole load of snark.
If you could dream cast your favorite book into a movie, whether yours or someone else's - what book would it be and who would you cast?
I'm a big fan of Gregory Ashe, so any of his Hazard and Somerset books would make fabulous films and in the parts of Hazard and Somerset I'd cast Christian Bale and Lucas Till or Alex Pettyfer.
What is the weirdest place you've ever written before?
In a circus tent
If you could write about any character or story that you haven't written about yet, what would it be and why?
I want to write a Gothic horror love story set in Victorian England and incorporate Jack the Ripper :)
Which of your characters do you think is the most under appreciated and why?
Hmm, possibly Maxwell from Flying Solo. He's a lovely guy and modelled on a friend of mine. As to why, I'm not too sure. Readers have their own likes and dislikes.
What is your favorite book? One of yours and one of someone else's.
My favourite book of my own is Living on Air, and The Stand from Stephen King is the other.
Favorite show to binge watch?
Penny Dreadful
What movie have you seen more times than you want to admit?
LOL any of the Rocky or Rambo films
Favorite quote or song lyric:
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind - Bernard M Baruch
Is there anything else you want anyone to know?
I love coffee and chocolate, Autumn is my favourite season and I'm not all that partial to hot weather :)

Author Spotlight - Beth Bolden
This week, we welcome Beth Bolden to the blog!

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I'm a contemporary gay romance author with (soon to be) 19 full length novels published. I like to write about chefs and professional athletes, and I also have a completed series about rock stars. Basically, I like writing heroes that usually need taken down a peg or two :)
How would you describe your brand? What makes one of your books inherently YOU?
Emotionally resonant, but fun and snarky books, with a strong, emotional love story and a solid HEA.
Tell us about what you're currently working on.
My next standalone football romance, called Rough Contact, about a kicker trying to earn his place on the LA Riptide, and his romance with the old, disgraced kicker--who's trying to figure out what to do with his life now that he isn't in the NFL anymore.
If you could dream cast your favorite book into a movie, whether yours or someone else's - what book would it be and who would you cast?
Probably my favorite series, which is Captive Prince, and I would cast a blond Timothee Chalamet as Laurent, and Jason Momoa as Damen.
What is the weirdest place you've ever written before?
I really like to write in coffee shops and restaurants. Many a sex scene has been written in Jason's Deli LOL.
What does the writing process look like for you? What comes first? How do you start? When do you know you have a good idea vs a dream?
I usually start out with an idea, either for a plot or for a character. With my football books, I like to take something unusual that happened in real life, and modify it for my purposes. For The Rivalry, I used the situation between Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks Nick Foles and Carson Wentz. Usually I do some character work then, thinking and brainstorming about motivation and personality. For me, in my romances, character is always first. Then I generally do a brief outline, usually based around the "beats," though while I'm writing I do generally modify that. I don't like to "over-outline" because I feel like I don't get those spontaneously wonderful ideas that also make my life at the same time. But an outline saves me from ending up 40k into a book and having no idea where I'm going.
If you could write about any character or story that you haven't written about yet, what would it be and why?
I would love to write more paranormal/fantasy. I have an idea for a soulmates book, with sexual magic, that I would love to explore, but there is just not enough hours in the day, and it's also way off my personal brand. But someday!
Which of your characters do you think is the most under appreciated and why?
I've always loved Xander from Savor Me, one of my Kitchen Gods books. He's such a quintessential character of mine--kind of snarky and blunt on the outside, with zero patience for any shit, but with a soft, gooey heart of gold on the inside.
What is your favorite book? One of yours and one of someone else's.
I said it earlier but my favorite series is the Captive Prince books. I think people are usually surprised by that, because I have essentially only written contemporary romance. My favorite book that I've written is probably Indulge Me, the final Kitchen Gods book, because I knew the characters so well by then, and it was so fun to show that while readers thought they knew what was going, it was really something else entirely.
Favorite show to binge watch?
West Wing
What movie have you seen more times than you want to admit?
The Fifth Element
Favorite quote or song lyric:
"You can't edit an empty page" - Nora Roberts
