Healing

After some failed attempts to rest after editing my book, I'm doing some artwork again.

I really, really should have made this picture in colors. But it's okay... I was told I needed to improve anatomy, and B&W is the best way, so colors don't disguise mistakes. That's Sween's hand, lovingly, quietly appeasing an upset Lei. (And if Lei is still upset after that, she's gonna bonk him).

ARC Post mortem

First of all, thank you to all the lovely ladies who accepted my invitation to become ARC readers. I will love you forever! Not mentioning names since they were all private invitations.

Forbidden started its life in 2013, and began as a funny story with a very dramatic ending. In fact, ending was changed thrice before its current form.

Since then I've half-written eight Forbidden novels more, plus a couple drafts that someday will turn into novels... hopefully. I can't even think of the way my writing evolved ever since. Once I established the Forbidden universe's rules, all was cruising from there. I can tell most of my mistakes very easily now.

However, the first novel shows many immaturity signs. Once I thought I was done correcting, pouf! My sight casually catches a mistake/phrase that could be better/ endless repetition of words, and I have to start again.

Perhaps somebody noticed my little activity recently, and it's because I was hunting down those ubiquitous mistakes. I'm really burned out and exhausted. (For those who will read my book, I feel like the construction worker from day 13). I'll be tomorrow online, but I think I'm going to take a holiday next week. I can't afford going out on a trip, but visiting the ecological reserve of my city and breathing some fresh air will help soothe my brain. And rereading some Agatha Christie's novels where I already know who the killer is. Ha! Or just about anything that doesn't involve correcting books.

Forbidden Day 1 - Page 13

Hey, did you know Forbidden has a comic? I can't put links to outside here it seems, so you'll have to manually look me up at deviantArt: HaruIchibanForbidden. Today I updated page 13 from Day 1, Lei being an asshole to Sween as usual, but he (half-jokingly) hints at her non-human nature:

Want a Forbidden's ARC?

I am looking for readers of ARCs of the second edition of my novel Forbidden. Forbidden Supernatural Erotic Romance (Forbidden, #1) by Haru Ichiban New cover, more descriptions and a more decent grammar compared to the first one! WARNING: This book is intended for mature audiences!

Is living the life of your dreams worth risking eternal punishment?

Detective student Sween is hell-bent on making her tall, dark, handsome classmate Lei fall in love with her, despite him being madly in love and dating all-round perfect Dessande.
As she concocts one failed scheme after another while getting in petty fights with Lei every chance, the realm of the supernatural around everyone becomes more and more apparent. Just who are Sween and Dessande? Perhaps nothing and nobody are what they seem to be?
Only one thing is clear: Sween’s love for Lei. But even if she managed to date him, what would await her? Being branded a criminal and chased down every night by her kind would only be the beginning of her problems. However, if only Lei loved her back, she would not mind breaking every law for him. No matter the consequences. Even if it meant living a forbidden love with a dubious future as she defied everyone and everything in Heaven... and everything she once stood for.

Forbidden is the first book in a long saga of romance full of sweetness and carnal delights, plots with substance, smart heroines, manly and sensitive heroes, morally ambiguous main characters, a mysterious supernatural world, detectives and humor.

Additional information:
Genres: erotic romance, paranormal romance, mature young adult, romantic comedy.
Length: Like in all erotic stories, length is very important, and you will be pleased with this book’s 108,000 words/494 pages.
Part of a series: Yes.
Standalone: Yes.
Erotic themes: M/F penetration, M to F masturbation, M masturbation, cunnilingus, fellatio, M to F tantric massage, flashing, fondling, erotic show, dry humping, heavy making out, breast play and more. Further Forbidden stories will explore more themes.
BDSM: No.
Cheating: No.
Vampires: In the world of Forbidden, any supernatural creature (angel, demon, spirit, ghost) can feed off human blood. You’ll see bites, including one during an erotic scene.
Death, gore, etc.: Only one scene, not exceedingly traumatic, and happens to a villain.
Dark themes: No. Other books will include topics like killing for pleasure and rape, but they will never go extremely dark. Forbidden is uplifting, full of hope and joie de vivre, not disturbing.
HEA: A trademark of mine is what I call a “light gray ending”: the outcome is overall good; however, some kind of price has to be paid for it.
Haru Ichiban’s comments: The story starts very light, kinda like college comedy. It progressively turns more and more intense, until the situation turns into inescapable persecution and personal war where someone has to win and someone lose.

A little about the main characters:
The hero, Lei Synge-Sturmmond: Explosive-tempered and extremely proud. Of brooding disposition, he’d rather be on his own or just in the company of the special lady in his life. Despises his rich, cold, cruel, elitist family. While a billionaire, he carries a past of financial scarcity. He’s a bona fide caffeine addict and always wears black. Wants to be a great detective, but institutional education and him are not the best of friends. Despite his tough appearance, he’s a hopeless romantic. Weird and inexplicable happenings seem to have a fixation on him.
Type III antihero (dangerous antihero). While he prefers to follow the path of good, if need arises he’ll get the job done.

The heroine, Sween Funew: Lots of mysteries about this girl’s origins and true nature pile up as the story unfolds. She may be human… she may be not. Exceedingly smart and bright; however, she has the emotional maturity of a ten-years-old, so she usually comes off as childish and capricious. Likes anything cute, the more the better. The same age as Lei, but looks much younger. She’s also a female pervert. Fiercely loyal and faithful.
Type IV antihero (vicious antihero). Don’t be fooled by her sweet and cute appearance: she’ll pay evil unto evil, and when protecting herself or someone she loves, she has no qualms about anything.

If the story appeals to you and you can post a review at Amazon, please send me a private message with your mail. I will send the ARCs by the 21st May and you need to post a review before the 17th June. I’m counting on you!

More investigations!

Well, this may be the last (or the one before the last) promotion picture before Forbidden's second edition. I want to draw another picture with Lei alone, but I'm not sure if I will. Anyway...

First picture was the cover and showed the erotic nature of the story.
Second picture was a promo pic and showed the romantic nature of the story.
And I only needed this one to show the funny nature of the story! Heck, I can't help but smile when I look at this. I don't think Lei is particularly ashamed to show himself, but surely his expression comes from some super-embarrassing, lewd comment from Sween (she looks cute and sweet, but she's a fully-fledged female pervert after all). Something like:

Sween: *perverted tone* Lovely, beautiful, shiny, delicious pink!
Lei: *sweatdrop*

or

Sween: Oh my Lord! Meet the King of Sausage City! All hail Lord Nineth Inches!
Lei: *wanting to hide under a table*

Heh heh. Anyway, as you can see I combined traditional pencil drawing with digital art in here. I hope it looks correct, not weird. Sween is wearing the female Law Academy uniform, which hasn't appeared yet in the comic, but just like the male one, is loosely based on the classical Sherlock Holmes look. May be more cute than practical.

Lei Pin-Up

One of the projects I have for Forbidden is a series of pin-ups of the characters. So I'm starting with Lei. My, he looks kinda ferocious in here, LOL. He's usually sharp-tongued but quiet.

Lei and Sween, of course. This is what Sween wants so much--but were she to get it, how much could she enjoy it without being discovered and punished for eternity by her kind...?
