Forbidden Day 1 - Page 16

Phew... I only just noticed I haven't updated in two weeks! Trying to finish Forbidden: New Days sure has kept me busy. Well, after all I drew during the 30-day trial, no wonder I've been taking it easy (in the art department, anyway).
This is the last pic with the sun up... Expect to see a certain color change those who have read the story know from next time...

Happy Birthday, Lei!
Actually, it was the 13th, but then again, I got another storm hit our place.
Anyway, Happy Birthday, Lei Synge-Sturmmond! Of course I made a picture for this occasion, (getting a "I am your gift!" present from Sween) but it may be way too steamy for Goodreads. You can take a look here: http://fav.me/dck4t0g

30-day trial, Day 30/30: Not a Fuck Given

Another awful lighting weather today... This pic looks nothing like I imagined it, and the scanning made it look nothing like the original... so you can tell how accurate is the rendering of my idea. I thought this pic would be better in watercolors; I don't know why I did it in pencils. Anyway, this is about how I feel right now, LOL. I found this text on Tumblr long ago, and I always wanted to do something with it.
So, today is the last day of the trial... Well, there was some improvement; I will write down the specifics of my progress in a future post. Taking the rest I needed, it wasn't awfully tiring. I think this trial is something that could be repeated in a year, to see how I've changed. I hope I have people cheering for me then!
The specifics:
•Time taken: Approximately seven hours between yesterday and today.
•Media used: Color pencils, pastels, pencil, black pen and micromarker. Cool white high quality drawing paper.
•30-day trial: Day 29 and 30/30, August 2nd and 3rd 2018

30-day trial, Day 29/30: August

Okay, so the 31st we had a blackout (again<.<) but I still managed to make a couple of nice crafts (two decorated pencils, one with the Rio characters and another with a fuzzy cat). 1st August you may not know, but it is a sacred date for me, so no work.
So we're at August! The month where a lot of hot men have their birthday. Lei is the 13th, while my childhood crush Kojiro Hyuga is the 17th. (And I know more). I can totally imagine this happening with these two grumps in the picture--next they will get in a fistfight for sure.
Funny that I made them at the beach--we're totally freezing in the middle of Winter here.
There are three stickers in the picture, but I already know by experience they don't show off in scanning. The stars have holograms and Golden trim, the can of Coke is dimensional. Of course, the scanner butchered all the turquoise tones and turned them into cool blue. By the way, I tried a new type of lineart, the one I was thinking of--pencil, not micromarker. It gives it a nicer look, which pleases me.
One day to go--but since 1st August is a no-count, maybe I should add a day more...? This has been such a long month, but somehow, it's strange that it is almost over... Oh well. I got very important things to do for next month, including finishing my second novel.
The specifics:
•Time taken: Approximately six hours.
•Media used: Color pencils, pastels, collage, pencil, black pen and micromarker. Cool white high quality drawing paper.
•30-day trial: Day 29/30, August 2nd 2018

30-day trial, Day 26/30: Lei Lines

And finally the colored version of the lineart I posted days ago. I had some trouble with this pic's coloring. When I finished it, Lei's skin looked purplish. I quickly noted what the mistake was: the pic is painted in cool colors, while I had painted his skin in neutral (or perhaps neutral-warm) tones. So I grabbed the Pale Lemon Yellow pencil and gave him an overall layer. Strange how color works: now much cooler, it actually looks warmer.
Lei's skin is still a problem spot for me. Even though the coloring is better now, and kinda looks alive, the problem is that his skin should be snow-white. Milk colored. Almost albino. Not this darker pink tone. I can't do that with colors yet, unless I want him to look like a statue. More experimentation is needed.
I also wrote almost 3000 words for my third novel today.
The specifics:
•Time taken: Approximately three hours and half, lpus what the lineart took me.
•Media used: Color pencils, pencil, black pen and micromarker. Cool white high quality drawing paper.
•30-day trial: Day 26/30, July 30th 2018
•Technical notes to myself: For cool-colored pics, use Granite Rose, not Light Flesh. Especially with icy colors, or they will crash. Granite Rose is for Lei, Light Flesh for Sween in sunny form.

30-day trial, Day 25/30: Angel Power Compendium Illustration #4

Anyway. I'm posting this today because I finished it today, but I did most of the artwork yesterday. This pic looks so simple but it was a ton of work, choosing the right grays and stuff. And yet, it didn't quite work out as I wanted it. Lei is facing the light and Sween is turning her back at it, so I need to redo this to make Sween's face fully shadowed, but I quite didn't want to do that, so that's why it turned out this way. I think her face looks weird...
Anyway, today's about the everyday bread for an angel: memory deletion. They can do it very specifically and can also combine it with another power to alter people's memories... but that's for a future illustration.
Five days to go... It seems I have been doing this forever...
The specifics:
•Time taken: I was a lot...
•Media used: Watercolor pencils with some pencil. Warm white 75 grams watercolor paper.
•30-day trial: Day 24 and 25/30, July 28 and 29th 2018

30-day trial, Day 22/30: Angel Power Compendium Illustration #3

Today's pic is about Day 9 and the magic Sween uses then (also, how she looks when she does). I guess I'll call it 'hellfire magic' for now, since Sween pretty much improvises it. This kind of magic is forbidden and it is only accesible to angels when they give up their premises of "being good" completely. As you know, it's very powerful and can cook up a demon in seconds. As you can tell, it's not something they use everyday and really questions their "good" alignment.
This pic can and shall use more work, but it was quite hard to make. I needed to draw the face four times to get it right. It took me two days, after all.
The specifics:
•Time taken: I was a lot... eight hours, I think.
•Media used: Watercolor pencils with some pencil. Warm white 75 grams watercolor paper.
•30-day trial: Day 21 and 22/30, July 25 and 26th 2018

30-day trial, Day 20/30: Angel Power Compendium Illustration #2

I was so damn insecure about making this picture, but I like how it turned out despite its several problems. All the background is rocky, but painting rocks with watercolors is quite hard (in fact, hard is what they don't look like). I will work on this pic more for the compendium.
So... second Angel Power Compendium illustration! This one is about angels' healing magic. I was wondering if to draw Mayii (who uses the most healing magic in the first novel) or Archie (who uses the most healing magic all through the books). I decided for Archie, since not only he'll eventually use more magic, but being a black-winged, his magic is actually way more powerful AND genuine (while Archie can heal with his sheer power, Mayii, being a quartarian, can only extract the life force of her "patient" and use it to heal them).
So 20 days, 10 to go!
Also... look forward to the next illustration in the Compendium, my favorite one, and the least "angelic" of the angel powers. Just two words: Day 9.
The specifics:
•Time taken: Five hours... I think? Could have been less.
•Media used: Watercolor pencils with some pencil and yellow pen. Warm white 75 grams watercolor paper.
•30-day trial: Day 20/30, July 24th 2018
•Technical notes to myself: How do you pain rocks with watercolor? Maybe using salt would be good?

30-day trial, Day 19/30: Lei Lineart

Well, I have been working less and less on drawing, but it does seem this trial makes my creative juices flow. The 21st I wrote about 1,500 words for my next novel (I know, not too impressive); the 22nd I made a cute box with lovely paper, glitter and felt (it feels very Christmas-like--I wonder if I should upload a pic?) and today I was going to make the Lei version of the police tape, but as I drew it, I thought maybe I would try typical coloring instead of the bold, solid color. So I didn't finish it. Also today I was taking off the paint on my bedroom wall and cleaning it up, which was like a craft. I was also watching one of my favorite series from teenagehood, and I thought about a cool idea for another Forbidden novel. (One published, another in the verge of doing so and seven more in drafts... Please end what you started first, Captain Haru!)
Wow, you can't imagine how hard is this pose until you've tried it... But still, I guess I am easing in my efforts because I am more satisfied with my current skill, and also because I can hardly follow a routine every day. I like creating every day, but my creative efforts can and will change direction with the day.
The specifics:
•Time taken: Approximately an hour and half.
•Media used: Pencil, black pen and micromarker. Cool white high quality drawing paper.
•30-day trial: Day 19/30, July 23th 2018
•Technical notes to myself: Stop using the sketching pencil for sketches that need to be erased.

30-day trial, Day 16/30: Sween's Night Form

I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. Bold colors, police tape, Persona 5-style coloring, but I thought I would draw Lei like this (which I might do later). I also began sketching this last night, which might be a good thing to do for me sometimes.
Day 16/30... It feels like forever that I have been doing this... If only I had someone who would do the challenge with me or cheer for me would be much easier, I think.
The specifics:
•Time taken: Five hours or so. I started sketching it the night of the 19th and finished it on the 20th.
•Media used: color pencils but mostly pastels and black pen, micromarker and pencil. Cool white high quality drawing paper.
•30-day trial: Day 16/30, July 20th 2018
•Technical notes to mine: That cheap pastel is totally useless. Better use the good pastel for everything.
