I’m a writer and traveller with a lengthy bucket list and cheeky sense of humour. When I travel, I love exploring new places, outdoor adventures, and eating and drinking like a local. I’m also an avid reader, a film buff, a wine lover and a coffee snob.

My aim in life is to go, see, taste and do – and then write about it.

As well as blogging, I am a professional content developer and editor, a children’s playwright, and an occasional contributor to online magazines.

I am also an author and I write the heart – what makes it sing, what breaks it, and how it mends – and many of my travel adventures have found homes in my novels. My first novel, a romantic comedy set in Greece and inspired by my real-life love story, will be published in June 2019

The idea comes, I let it percolate for a few hours or a few days - sometimes longer - and then I start writing. I have a general idea of where I am going, but I am often pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns my writing takes. It is ridiculously fun to play in this way.(less)

My name is Sandy and I am an author

I met with a financial advisor once – once. When he asked about my long-term plans (career, finances, retirement), I replied that I would probably never truly retire, because one day I’d be an author and I would continue to write ’til the day I stopped breathing.

He laughed at me. Out loud. Then he tilted his head and gave me a pitying look. I asked him to leave and went back to my desk a...

I loved this character and her journey to love. The insider's take on being an author was incredibly fun to read as I am a romance author too. The setting was wonderfully described and the author cleverly evoked a strong sense of the Italian summer. ...more

I loved this book. It's smart, hilarious and it kept me guessing. This is chicklit at its finest. Julie Houston has created a character in Cassandra Moonbeam, who is likeable, relateable, and beautifully human. I laughed aloud throughout. Highly reco ...more

“Once a year, take her somewhere she’s never been. Once a month, do something new that melts her in the sack. Once a week, stop everything and just listen to her. Once a day, catch her doing one thing you love. Once an hour, kiss her on the mouth. And every minute of every day, be grateful that you got her.”
