You cannot manage what you do not understand.

Most people would say to this… Well, that’s pretty obvious. I agree with that whole heartedly. Still, even if it is obvious, most of the time, we pay no attention to the meaning behind it and the repercussions it can engender in our lives. This is especially true when one deals with a topic as dynamic as the Future.

Let me give you examples of what I mean…

Did you know that Saudi Arabia granted citizenship to the first humanoid robot this week?

Did you know that a small asteroid or comet moving through our solar system may have come from elsewhere in the galaxy?

Did you know that according to scientists our universe shouldn’t exist?

We are already seeing rapid personal gene sequencing, photonics, robotic surgery, synthetic blood, bio-enhanced fuel, volumetric 3D screens, appliance robots, self-healing materials, tidal turbines, solar geoengineering, cyber-warfare, gesture recognition, near-field communication, speech recognition, pervasive video capture, flexible screens, organ printing, fuel cells, commercial spaceflight, natural language interpretation, mesh networking, augmented reality, biometrics sensors, smart toys, graphene, photonics, machine translation, machine vision, virtual currencies, biomarkers, self-driving vehicles, smart drugs, multi-segmented smart grids, sub-orbital spaceflight, personal fabricators, and standard desalination, just to name a few. Yet, ten years ago, none of these were more than the seed of an idea. Think back to Jules Verne and man going to the moon in 1865… This was conceived as a notion… And then it happened.

These are just a few of the changes we are witnessing in science, technology and innovation. What impact will these have on our way of life? How will these affect our businesses? What do they mean for us individually and on a socio-economic basis? Where will this lead our social evolution? How will these transform us? How do we adapt to them? These are questions we need to address to stay ahead of what is coming towards us, whether we are aware of it or not.

We have reached a phase in our evolution where every advance will be exponentially faster, and we will need to keep up, otherwise we will soon become obsolete. This is not just about us as humans, but also the impact these changes will have on our companies. Remaining fluid and adaptable to these new paradigms is essential not only for our own survival, but for companies which want to thrive in this new environment.

For instance, the future landscape of the workplace will be greatly impacted for both workers and organizations, changing the global marketplace forever. This evolution will trigger pain points in all sectors, globally. These need to be anticipated and thought through if companies want to succeed to become the leaders in their space, to not only maintain a relevance in the future but to drive profitable growth.

Robot Granted Saudi Citizenship

Discover Tomorrow, Today!

New Dimension Breakthroughs In Robotics… Upgraded Robots are here…

Perhaps one of the prime example in demonstrating the saying “Discover Tomorrow, Today” is the new citizen of Saudi Arabia, named Sophia. She is the first humanoid robot to be given citizenship!

Not only did we meet Sophia at the Future Investment Initiative Conference in Riyadh this week, but we learned that Sophia was granted the first citizenship of its kind, as a humanoid robot by Saudi Arabia.

Sophia, built by the Hong Kong-based company “Hanson Robotics” in 2015 and Inventor David Hanson moves among us. The robot is imbued with artificial intelligence, and can recognize faces. Its silicon face can reportedly mimic 62 human facial expressions, so she can interact with us to create  relationships.

While the reaction was varied on social media, due to the fact that Sophia may have more rights than actual human women in the kingdom, it is nevertheless a fact to notice. A trend… so to speak that will indeed influence our future. Robots are here to stay…

This creates ramifications not only with us as we integrate them in our environments, but it definitely influences our way of life and our laws. The status these robots will claim in our society of the future demands great thoughts and consideration. How their interactions will be viewed from a legal perspective was already outlined quite well in the movies “Blade Runner,” “Terminator,” “I, Robot,” “Chapie,” “StarWars with C-3PO,” and “RoboCop,” as well as the series “Star Trek with Data.”

Imagine robots in our streets giving information, inside our homes taking care of our children, or on the front line against terrorist activities, enforcing the security of some of our major world events? This is foreseen under many scenarios, especially for our entertainment in the television and movie industries, as well as by many authors in books, not unlike the NEWDAWN Saga. However, science fiction paves the way to science facts and some of the greatest discoveries for mankind.

So, regardless of how we feel about it today, artificial intelligence is among us. It will influence many segments of our infrastructure, and impact the world we shape for tomorrow. Although in its nascent stage, A.I. is being incorporated in every facet of society today. It is learning data, it is shaping the delivery of information, it is leading the way in the development of new systems, and yet, we have not broken the mold to teach it issues of right and wrong, and not so simple, morality. We are still dealing in the nuts and bolts… Granted, an important function to move forward in its development, but how do we address the issues that keeps some of us awake at night, wondering how we deal with a machine that calculates data on multiple levels at once, without providing a roadmap for one of the most fundamental question – how does it reach a conclusion without it be strictly in the logic of the information? Can we even influence its thinking with considerations based on human standards or emotions?

These are current questions. Questions that need answers. Answers that will most likely change us, and the way we live our future. For indeed, it is true that our influence has been felt thus far in the external world around us, as we have sought to impact our environments seeking to improve it. In many ways, we are now entering the era where we will need to improve ourselves if we want to stand a chance to keep up.

The Fall Of Power

Earth Beyond 2098

Copyright image Igor Zhuravlov – abstract apocalyptic background – burning and exploding planet earth in red sky, hell, end of world

The Fall of Power began the year when the unthinkable happened…

The year where the voices of reasons got silenced… The year when lies became the new language… When intimidation grew into a new code of conduct… When ignorance turned into entertainment… When manipulation transformed into currency… When self-importance lost all sense of proportion and mutated into the Nation…  When me matured into a new mantra…  When false smiles shifted perceptions… When glamour replaced common sense… When corruption altered the acceptable…

The outrageous settled in full view of all… condoned by inertia, by the murmurs that remained unheard, by those who saw and did nothing… When the voices of knowledge and wisdom quieted… unable to be heard in the chaos incited by those with hidden agendas, it found its greatest ally. It toppled all that was predictable against the odds… It permeated every aspect of our lives in a matter of months… Until the abnormal insidiously evolved to be the normal, and man’s strongest quality – adaptability. Humanity transmuted into the new downfallen angels.

It ignited when rage and anger galvanized actions…

It reached its apogee when all the good men remained silent. Those who were meant to fight for others… Those who were there to protect their brothers… Those who took a vow to stand on behalf of all… Instead, the orators of peace gave up their vision, losing their way in favor of security, facility, money and fear; buying what was sold so cheaply – turmoil.

Like a virus, it paralyzed all functions inside the seats of our government, hammering at the bastions of freedom, tricking the weak, the mad, the gullible into thinking there was no liberty, promoting a false sense of equality or inequality, encouraging suspicions, feeding discontent, breaking apart brotherhood to ultimately defeat humankind. It was so corrosive that it eroded the institutions of justice and spread through our land, reaching the four corners of the Earth with surprising rapidity, fomenting dissent, mistrust, and breaking the most profound alliances. It demolished in little time the true walls that stood tall for democracy, crashing those values we held dear, and annihilating our sense of morality…  Hate and corruption took over our globe. It toppled a world power that was the Beacon for all, forcing ridicule upon us, controlling a timetable that cut through strategic ties, breaching trust all around, and alienating friends on different shores, to eliminate influence, and in the end isolate us from all.

When the main fortress came down, there was no place left standing providing safety. For in the villages, cities, countries and continents, the citadel that had showed measure, had been swept away in the turbulence of attacks coming from all sides. Our world transformed forever… The light dimmed and the darkness expanded.

In the shift that followed, we lost the sense of who we were. One can never go back to what was… for what was, existed no longer. The months and years after the grand wave of destruction that shook our foundation, saw blood run deep and wide in our streets, shattering the core of human kindness. The great evil took root, establishing within our stronghold its new rules. Obscurity settled on the land, and reached the heart of all living.

When the sands settled after the great storm, another at first unseen, began to creep up on the horizon. It was not completely unanticipated… but we were not prepared for we had been otherwise occupied. And so, we were left defenseless…

This malevolent force that initiated our downfall was owned by some with pride, rallying the twisted and heartless. Those who witnessed it, and attempted to fight against it were jettisoned like trash. The nefarious current built, erasing all that was good. It was allowed to breach the most sacred of gifts, ourselves. In that, we betrayed who we were and what we stood for… And with that deed, we forfeited our planet in the pursuit of greed… We discarded the only home we possessed and that sustained all for lifetimes. As species died in the four corners of our world, disappearing slowly from the surface of the globe, we didn’t see. We refused to acknowledge… and when we finally were left no option to ignore the worst of what we created, we recognized indeed too late that we were next.

NewDawn Saga: A New Frontier in Production

Set amidst glorious architecture with lushly futuristic decor, New Dawn Reboot shines an unwavering light into the complex reality of a technologically infused, performance driven society unfolding in 2098. Based on the novel, New Dawn Diaries —Reboot, written by Director/Producer, Dominique Luchart, this exciting science fiction odyssey takes us deep into the dynamics of a trans-human world of the future. A virtual planetary network known as DAINN provides every aspect necessary for sustenance of our new and improved race, which is ironically run by the young.

Having produced, co-produced and been directly involved in 7 successful independent films, Dominique brings extensive experience that spans the realms of business, creative development, management and production. A prolific writer and visionary, Dominique lead her own US based advertising firm where she conceptualized, designed and oversaw corporate campaigns for national brands that yielded more than 50 ADDY awards. With achievements that include developing and directing pilots for children’s programming along with derivative products for ancillary markets, Dominique’s passion for creation knows no bounds. Thus I was excited to sit down with Dominique and explore the beautiful balance of fantasy and thought provoking reality that is New Dawn Reboot.

Dominique Luchart

What sparked your desire to write the novel that New Dawn Reboot is based upon?

I’ve always been drawn to peer over the horizon and imagine how the movements and ideas of today are shifting. As I looked at the current advances in science and technology, I thought about the potential trajectory of our quest to improve our lives through these realms. Science fiction gives us the freedom and space to create the new worlds and explore new ways of life into the unknown. Whatever we can conceive of can become reality, so it was a natural fit for bringing my own exploration bout into what I might do, be and face in a future life.

The emphasis in 2098 remains affixed to the power and desire of youth; is this a comment on today’s youth obsessed culture?

Looking at today’s youth I see an increasing desire to be center stage and outdo others in sometimes unusual ways. There is this fascination with being the hero or possessing skills that others don’t have at a young age. There is also a compulsion to be smarter, faster, bigger or more successful earlier. At the same time the direction of technology and science suggests we will no doubt accelerate mental capability and the development of special skills so I thought it was a natural extension of where we seem to be heading. Plus why not have the older generation be able to relax and actually enjoy the golden years that many people are missing out today because of economic issues. The interesting dilemma is that in carrying out all this responsibility, the young sacrifice the interpersonal learning and wisdom that comes with childhood. Still if I had the ability to be much more powerful and accomplish so much more when I was young, would I want that? I think yes, it would be kind of cool.

Some say life is cyclical; if history repeats, how do the goals and struggles people face in Angel City compare to those today in our City of Angels?

What I love about New Dawn is that it’s a new story environment that enable people to deal with today’s world issues tomorrow. There are definitely challenges we face that we’ll see become worse in 2098. Concerns such as the distribution of resources and the need for clean water have evolved and changed throughout the decades, though they’ve always been there in some way. Overpopulation will become more problematic with enhanced technology helping people live longer. We’ll see all of these same issues we are facing today intensified in the future.

What does New Dawn Reboot give its viewers and fans?

Along with the entertainment value, incredible visuals and storyline people can relate to, it provides a view of us tomorrow. Instead of dealing with the typical alien race, we are dealing with the consequences of our choices, belief and actions that came before. It reacquaints us with the reality of how our personal actions today are shaping our future and gives us an opportunity to look more closely at that. People hopefully will be entertained and provoked to think about what they’re seeing.

The New Dawn Reboot website gives us an incredible view in the world of 2098; what was the process of constructing the visual components of the City and life like?

It was an extremely collaborative process and I love architecture. Once I realized that I needed visuals to help me in the process of building the structure of the site, I found a CGI artist who loves sci-fy. I assembled images of structures being built around the world and that resonated with me while pointing to the future of architectural design. Then we dove into the textures, layers and horizontal and vertical aspects of what I felt the metropolis of tomorrow should be like and what we wanted to portray. For example with people talking about chartering the first planes into space, I thought about an aerial anti-gravity platform that would give you a sense of coming down into the City. The result is a sleek elevated structure for the shuttles in 2098 to land.

Aside from the entertainment value, what would you like the audience to gain most from watching New Dawn Reboot?

I love to entertain and make people think and take action. I would love it if we were able to raise awareness around some the issues we face today. What if we could even incorporate some of the solutions we come up with for similar issues in 2098 back into those same concerns today? Now that would be cool! On the production side I see the entire process of content creation changing. I would love to develop an interactive network in which the audience had a voice in what they’re watching. Social media already gives us instant feedback on how the audience feels about what they’re watching. I see the audience and content creators becoming a team that sustain and support each other interactively to preserve the entertainment value.

Speaking of interactive, the New Dawn Reboot website incorporates social media in a way that enables actors to submit themselves for roles and site visitors to participate in the casting process. What led to such an innovative approach?

I believe entertainment media networks need to evolve. The next generation will demand more participation. The audience is already looking for ways in which it can be more involved in what’s created. They want to craft, influence and shape what they watch so they see and feel their imprint on the entertainment they invest their time tuning in for. In response to this shift, I thought it would be cool to give people visiting the New Dawn Reboot website the ability to role play different characters and actually help craft Angel City from the inside out. The next phase will be an online game that gives sci-fi lovers a way to play in our world, blog about problems in 2098 and even problem solve its issues as the world continues to develop.

Any other thoughts?

Great writing, compelling characters and unusual twists and plots with great production are necessary for a successful series. With science fiction it’s also about the look, feel and rhythm. You want better, richer texture so you can relate to it even though the story is taking place in a new environment. New Dawn Reboot introduces a world no one has seen before so it’s new to all of us and must have compelling visuals, persuasive characters, riveting plots and hip and cool effects that will draw us into life in 2098.

Interview With Author Dominique Luchart

Interview with Author Dominique Luchart

Interview with Author Dominique Luchart

Today our guest is the author and futurist Dominique Luchart with NEWDAWN Saga Novel A Scifi series for YA!  She is also a Director and Producer, leaving in LA. She is launching the first book of a SciFi/Fantasy series for YA, NEWDAWN ROAMERS. The books is about us in 2098 w/ Science & Tech paving the way to our future. The series is connected to Science Fiction and Science Facts… about shaping a future in the present and shifting perceptions about the various future we can have… ROAMERS offers one possible future. We have conducted an interview with her.

Why did you develop ‘DAINN’ as without emotions although it understand emotions? What will happen to your story if it is with emotions?
DAINN is an A.I. meant to serve us in the NEWDAWN Saga. Its programming is to preserve life. All sort of lives. The story will evolve and DAINN will face its own challenges in the next volumes, eventually finding its way to be “complete.” This is as much as I can say about DAINN’s journey for the first volume of the saga NEWDAWN ROAMERS.

How did the year ‘2098’ came into your mind (and story)? Why not other years like 2201?
I wanted the story line to be rooted in the near future because it is based on science and technology that is been developed as we speak… I did not want the story to take place so far away that this would just be another science fiction epic that does not relate to us. Although NEWDAWN is all about fiction and in some instance some fantasy, it maps one possible future for humanity. A future I think everyone should be aware of because we shape this possible future in the present, we pave the way to it today by our choices and decisions. Obviously, it is also fantasy, so I did take some liberty with the science and technology, advancing at times the things we have been able to accomplish by 2098. The number 8 is very important in NEWDAWN because it represents infinity and plays a role in the landscape of the entire saga.

What are the top 3 interesting futuristic technologies you would like to see?
The ability to live totally healthy lives. Curing potential illnesses with DNA mapping and preventive medicine, applied in the right way with genetic engineering and implants will provide the ability to cure humanity from any forms of illnesses so we can all live healthy, productive and happy lives. Halting the suffering of millions would be quite an achievement. With that comes of course the advantage of curbing old age and remaining young much, much longer. Immortality… here we come… opening the door to a whole lot of other problems. The choice remaining ours, of course. If we want to dream, we may as well make it a big dream.

Another cool technology is the ability to redesign ourselves, making ourselves stronger, faster, and smarter to accomplish things we can only dream of today, or that would take a long time to achieve, like learning new things without effort or superfast. Implants and technology will give us that ability, if we so select it.

Instant Travel at will… Having access to immediate transportation from one place to another. It would be really cool to carry a kind of device that allows oneself to go from one place to another at will.

What kind of content will be eliminated in the current educational system by 2097?
Hopefully none. Instead, I wish for us to enhance our knowledge base because we become what I call in the novel the “Perfect Humans,” and this can only be achieved by gaining knowledge and learning wisdom. Not a small endeavor and perhaps our greatest challenge as human beings. I realize part of it is a bit utopian, but if we do not set a high standard for ourselves, what can we expect of ourselves?

When you imagine yourself in the future, what would be the new ‘super powers’ you wish to possess in order to sustain in that world?
Super hero powers… Hum, so many to choose from. Perhaps the ability to slow down time and influence outcomes to avoid bad things from happening to people. I also think it would be cool to make people “happy” and provide them clarity about their choices in life. Now, just for fun having the ability to shape anything in the form and in any matter one wants at the touch of a finger would be really cool too.

What is essentially in the beauty of bridging the gap of what we know and what remains hidden behind closed doors?
I believe we are Here By Design… Knowing our roles instead of living blind to our purpose in this life is in my opinion a great gift, one that should not be overlooked. If we possessed the wisdom and knowledge to understand our decisions and choices and where they lead us, perhaps we would shape a better world for future generation, as we are only the caretakers of this wonderful planet we live on.
