Writing on Wednesday - Guest Darlene Arden on Interviewing People
It's my pleasure to welcome author Darlene Arden. Those of you who know Darlene's work will be surprised to see that she's not here to talk about cats or dogs, but rather about the all-important (for many freelance writers and for authors and other people who want to be interviewed!) -- the art of the interview. - Sheila

doing a Hawaii 5-0 retrospective...)

Writing on Wednesday - Guest Debra H. Goldstein on Writers as Liars
It's a pleasure to welcome Debra H. Goldstein to Writing on Wednesday. Read Debra's bio below to appreciate her versatility, and then see why she says it's a good thing that novelists lie! ~ Sheila
Writers are liars. They are masters of taking facts and
embellishing them beyond a point of recognition. This practice would seem to be a
contradiction to the suggested “write what you know,”

Mystery on Monday - Guest K.B. Gibson on Labels in the Mystery Genre
What's in a name - or a label? Publishers and booksellers, and even some readers, put a lot of stock in the labels they apply to books. My guest today, author K.B. Gibson, has some interesting comments today about the label applied to her book, A Class on Murder. Welcome, Karen! ~ Sheila
I eagerly,
yet with great trepidation, awaited the recent release of my first novel, A Class on Murder. As

How Writers Can Save Their Readers’ Backs
Forty-nine years ago tomorrow, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. My guest today is Keith Raffel, whose newest thriller, A Fine and Dangerous Season, takes place during the Cuban Missile Crisis, in which Kennedy was, of course, a major player. Today, though, Keith considers the question that most writers grapple with at some point: how long is a book? Thanks for being here, Keith. ~

Welcome to my artsy fartsy guest, Ellis Vidler, who writes about the role of arts and crafts in her life and her writing. What creative fun! ~ Sheila
Artsy Fartsy or Old
Master?
Artsy fartsy or old master, art has always played an
important part in my life. My father was an artist and photographer, and when I
was very young, we’d open a book of his favorite Dutch master Frans

Writing on Wednesday - Guest Author Christy English on Historical Fiction & a Little Shakespearean Romance
I'm delighted to interview author (and my good friend) Christy English today. Christy writes historical fiction and, more recently, romance. She's a brilliant writer, and has a wicked sense of humor to boot. (Tiny aside -- I named a Golden Retriever in Drop Dead on Recall after Christy's favorite queen, Eleanor of Aquitane.) Welcome, Christy! ~ Sheila
