Edition 2015 vs. 2021

We need to talk about the reviews for my book, The Son of Light Book 1 (2015 Edition) ...yeah.

One word, CHEAP. And I'm not insulting the people who worked on my book. However, the reviews speak for themselves and that my responsibility. I got what I paid for in terms of the editing.

The first few chapters of Book 1 reflected my inexperience as a writer. I thought I had to write everything in detail, including the sex and gory scenes. That turned a lot of people off. Also, I had POV characters all over the place. The story wasn't as focused as I thought.

The Son of Light Book 1 (2021 Edition) was expensive to re-edited, but worth it. In my mind, it's the best version. That's not to say that it's perfect, but I worked my butt off revising everything.

The sexual things in the book have been toned down to a degree but are still present because they're important part of character development. But as a result of the new edition, the book is almost 500 pages on Amazon! Sometimes, I wish it was shorter, but it is what is.

Ultimately, I'm a better writer now. 2015 was frustrating but fun. The important thing is that I learned a lot since then and I will continue to learn.

Book 1 - New Cover

The Son of Light Book 1: Rebirth (2021 Edition) has a lot of changes from the previous edition. One of them is the book cover, which features the main villain of the series. The original book cover (not made by me) is called the "Josh cover".

After showing both Lord Hexen's and Josh's cover to people, the votes were very close. Most people liked the colors of both. But it was Hexen's design that captured their attention the most.

I personally like it better because the tone is in your face. Also, it separates the two versions of Book 1.

Seth Parker

Seth Parker is one of the POV characters in The Son of Light Book 1: Rebirth. There is only one thing he wants...revenge.

He is one of my favorite characters to write for. He's so complex.

Life Lesson #1: Keep Fighting

I've been writing my "Son of Light series" since 2013 to now. The first book in the series was full of mistakes and scenes that I thought was funny but disgusted my readers. I was a newbie and wanted to do things cheap. But, I didn't give up.

Now, in 2022, I have learned so much since then and have perfected the universe I created. I have so much character art, songs, videos, comics, and a stronger mind.

Being an author is like being a professional fighter. You have train, fail, rest, and then train harder.

Keep writing! Keep fighting!
