My Review - Her Name is Mercie by Chris Roy

OMG - this is that type of WOW book that I love. I didn't expect to enjoy it so much.

The Good
Clever plot. I loved Kermit and Mercie and her 'gung-ho' attitude. I think that what happened in the story is how I would feel and she was a great heroine.

The Bad
This is a tragic story, very well written and I believe things like this do happen.

The Ugly
I love the way the author describes fighting. In this story Mercie and some of the others I read them over and over. All the stories were unique and some a bit strange. The one with the dog/ reindeer etc. just went over my head. I didn't get it - but the others were all something different, and I will buy this book as a present for my hubby!

4.5 Stars - Loved it! I read this as part of a blog tour

Cover Reveal - An Artisan Lovestyle by Kiltie Jackson

An Artisan Lovestyle - Hi-res

What a lovely cover!  Purple is my favourite colour and this is a fun vibrant get into the summer type of book cover.  We love it!!

An Artisan Lovestyle

Are you living your life or just living your life?

Elsa Clairmont was widowed barely five years after marrying her childhood sweetheart. She has struggled to come to terms with the loss and, six years later, has almost ceased to live herself. She does just enough to get by.

Danny Delaney is the ultimate Mr Nice Guy. Hes kind, caring and sweet. A talented artist in his teens, his abusive mother ruined his career in art and he turned his back on his exceptional gift. Now, he does just enough to get by.

On New Years Eve, both Danny and Elsa die in unrelated accidents.

Thanks to some poker playing shenanigans, Elsas husband Harry, and Dannys old Art teacher, William, manage to orchestrate a deal with Death that allows Danny and Elsa to live for one more year on the condition they both agree

to complete three tasks.

They have until the last chime of Big Ben on the 31st December

to fulfil their quests.

If they succeed, they stay in the world of the living.

If they should fail however

An Artisan Lovestyle is a story of personal growth and self-discovery as two people find themselves forced to make overdue changes in their lives, changes in other peoples lives, and all with the added challenge of

finding true love before their time runs out.

Will they do it?

Can they do it?

After all, its a matter of Life or Death

An Artisan Lovestyle Cover RevealAUTHOR BIO

Kiltie grew up in Glasgow in Scotland,
This is a very unique city with a very unique way of looking at life.

When she was old enough to do so, she moved to London and then,
after several years of obtaining interesting experiences -which are
finding their way into her writing - she moved up to the Midlands.

Kiltie currently lives in Staffordshire with five cats and one grumpy husband.
Her little home is known as Moggy Towers, even though despite having
plenty of moggies, there are no towers!

The cats kindly allow her and Mr Mogs to share their house on the
condition they keep paying the mortgage!

She loves reading, watching movies, and visiting old castles.
She really dislikes going to the gym!

Her biggest desire is that one day she can give up the day job
and write her stories for a living.

Kiltie's debut novel, 'A Rock 'n' Roll Lovestyle', was released in September 2017 and won

a "Chill With A Book - Reader Award" in December 2017.

She first began writing her debut novel eleven years before it was released but shelved
it as she didn't think it was very good.

In November 2016 when, having read more on a best-selling author who had begun
her own career as a self-published author, she was inspired to revisit the unfinished

manuscript and finally finish what she had started.

Since beginning to write again, the ideas have not stopped flowing.
'An Artisan Lovestyle' is the second book in the Lovestyle Series.

Work is due to begin on book three (not yet titled but also part of the Lovestyle Series)
in the Summer of 2018.

She currently has a further ten plots and ideas stored in her file (it's costing a
fortune in USB drives as each story has its own memory stick!) and
the ideas still keep on coming.

Kiltie now lives her life around the following three quotes:
"I love having weird dreams, they're great fodder for book plots!"
"Why wait for your ship to come in when you can swim out to meet it?"
"Old enough to know better, young enough not to care!"

After receiving a box of letters from his deceased mother, Matt Nelson is shoved from his predictable, controlled life to a secluded beach in North Carolina. While trying to understand his mother's intent, he discovers Kathleen.

Matt must choose whether to follow the path his mother orchestrated or rescue the woman who has captured his heart. Review Toccata Obbligato - Serenading Kyra by Jennifer Theriot

My Review - Toccata Obbligato - Serenading Kyra by Jennifer Theriot

Mamma Mia Pizzeria!

This book is a fun short read for young adults. With lots of swear words and hormones.

The Good

I read this book in one sitting as I couldn't put it down. Rockstar Todd was just a car accident that you sort of want to let the car fall off the cliff. Then he falls in love and is a bit useless with it.

The Bad

Written from the male point of you this is a fresh and fun way of looking at the world through the sunglasses of a rock star. I don't want to tell you the whole story but this is a sweet romance with sex, drugs, and rock n roll - quite literally.

The Ugly

First loves, young love despair etc. We have all been there.  This book made me laugh and I loved the honest easy to read writing style.

5 Stars a fun short read ... thank God for Olivia!

Review - One S'more Summer by Beth Merlin

My Review One S'more Summer by Beth Merlin

I spent 8 summers in the USA as a child on camps and visiting family. I loved it. This book filled me with fond memories.

My first love was Todd the toilet cleaner in Lake Tahoe.

The Good

A fun read.  Easy to digest and I loved the back and forth from the past to the present. If you have been on camp, accidentally slept with your best friends lover or have parents with "issues" then you will love this.

The Bad

Oh dear, Gigi makes mistakes and quite a few of them.  Back that makes her human and why so many can relate to this book.

The Ugly

Perry and the way he lost his girlfriend ....  I don't want to add spoilers but I devoured this book. I am loving the warmer weather and I read this in one morning in the garden.

5 Stars - lovely!

Little Teashop of Horrors by Jane Lovering

9781781893081

Little Teashop of Horrors

Secrets, lies, carrot cake and an owl called Skrillex!

Amy Knowles has always been the plain sidekick to her pretty best friend Jules. And whilst the tearoom they both work in on the Monkpark Hall estate in Yorkshire is not exactly awash with eligible bachelors, it's obvious where the male attention is concentrated - and it's not just on the cakes!

There is one man who notices Amy. Joshua Wilson also works at Monkpark, where he flies his birds of prey for visitor entertainment. He lives a lonely existence but he has reasons for choosing isolation - and, in Amy, he may have found somebody who understands.

Then a management change brings slick and well-spoken Edmund Evershott to Monkpark. He's interested in Amy too, but for what reason? Josh suspects the new manager is up to no good - but will Amy? Because Edmund could leave her with much worse than a broken heart...

My Review - Little Teashop of Horrors by Jane Lovering

When I signed up for the blog tour of a Little Teashop of Horrors, I expected ghosts and cake! I was wrong. This is more comedy and cake that blood and gory bits.

The Good
This is a British romcom set in Yorkshire, and it features an owl! How original, I loved that! The heroine is Amy, and she is a little insecure about her looks.. but a knight in a shining tea-shop is just around the corner. Josh is a good boy with a crush on Amy.

The Bad
It took me a while to get into the book. I put in down three or four times before I just had a cuppa and got on with it. I think the pace is slow and it is supposed to be, and many women love that slice of cake fiction. I would have preferred a stronger more powerful intro.

The Ugly
I want an owl! No really, even though this wasn't what I was expecting I liked it, I just didn't LURVE it!

Review - Reality Rehab by Lisa Mary London

Review - Reality Rehab by Lisa Mary London

Oh good grief!  This is British satire and it is hilarious!

The Good

I knew I was going to like it when I read the first chapter title... Life's a Bitch and Then You Diet!

The Bad

I didn't like the way the newspaper reports were all squashed and the comments in bold.  Nothing about the book - but the comments etc could have been easier to read.

The Ugly

The cover!  I love dogs but that is just NO!
