Day 4,302: As I Live And Breathe
It’d been a while since we last podcasted. Couple weeks in a row we couldn’t do it and all the sudden three weeks have passed.
It was a good cast. Real good.
Writing was great today, if not super plentiful. Work was busy busy this week.
Night night.

Day 4,301: Reminiscin This n That
Today was not quite the day. Work heated up early on and didn’t really let up until the end. So…the book had to be set aside, at least for any “extra” writing times. I did get in my morning and evening, though, and…I’m close. Probably not tomorrow. But Saturday? Yes. I think so.
Wrote another sad scene today. A few of those in this book. Triumph as well, certainly…but bittersweet. Sacrifice. Heroism. Rage. Tears. It’s a good book, I think. It’s got me several times, at least. I love my charac...

Day 4,300: Push
In the final push. Very close. Maybe tomorrow, but probably Friday or this weekend. Either way, I’m not going to go crazy to make it happen. These scenes still need their due time, you know? Can’t be rushed. But the push is on.
Another…20 pages? Thirty? Something like that. The battle is over. Just today. Now, we pick up the pieces. Take stock of what we’ve accomplished. This was a big one. Which is satisfying to write. Feels like a truly major accomplishment our heroes achieved with this sto...

Day 4,299: Joy Love Bug
Wrote a bunch of pages today! 14, I think. Almost through this final big set piece. Super, super exciting to see it all come together. Twists. Shockers. People are changed. Life and death. Act 3 shit! Banger of a book, I think. I hope so, anyway. My co-writer seems to think so. Whew!
I’m ready to be done, for sure. Excited to be done. It’s always exhilarating to finish a book. No matter how anguishing it was to outline or write it…always a blast to cross the finish line.
Three more Glory b...

Day 4,298: Joy Loves Bugs
Did you know cockroaches can fly? Neither did I! Just saw one do it. Tis the season in LA, I guess. They’re out there. Not too many of them, one here, one there, but they are out there. I feel like LA has roaches, but in very reasonable quantities. I don’t think I’ve ever seen more than one or two of them at a time. But, then again, maybe that’s just privilege showing? But…then again…I spent many years in LA very very poor living in some pretty, um, let’s just call them “old” apartments. So, I t...

Day 4,297: Le Quick
It’s bed time! Rapid fire one tonight.
Watched the Hungarian Grand Prix. Exciting race! But not for Lewis.
Hung out with Wolfie. We played corn hole and Spirit Farer after. Christina had COVID, so we did everything outside and I wore a mask when I was close to Wolfie. We had a great time.
Took a short nap. Wanted longer, but brain wouldn’t comply.
Helped Bear with audition.
We watched Grand Designs. A messy, stressful one. But they finished their house.
Now…sleep.

Day 4,296: Ermlert
Had a wonderful hang this evening with some friends. We sat out on the patio and watched Snacks and Joy run around together, ate sugar melon, all after a jaunt down the street for Leo’s Tacos which…my god…they were spectacular. I love the taco spots within walking distance of us, but this shit was next level. Worth the very short drive. The good company, of course, made it all even better.
I wrote this morning like I wanted to. I’ll do it again tomorrow morning…and then this coming week it’s ...

Day 4,295: Flat
Twas a week of burnout, I’m afraid. Inevitable. It wasn’t from lack of trying. I grinded. Still came up short. It’s okay. It happens. Especially because I’m so close to finishing. I’ll get up tomorrow and Sunday and write more pages…but the final push is now next week.
I got this.
The book will get done.
I think that’s all I got for you tonight. Cheers.

Day 4,294: So Fit
Wrote a really intense scene today. Took it out of me. The most intense scene I’ve ever written, to be honest. The most horrifying. The most heartbreaking. I…didn’t expect it to be so intense. At least to write. I knew it would be pretty gut-wrenching from a storytelling point of view, but it was the same to write it, for sure.
I just went and added a bit to my notes. A scene I hadn’t envisioned until just now, but one that’s absolutely necessary. Drake being a good leader.
Anyway. It’s ti...

Day 4,293: Bespoke
Watching a Grand Designs right now about a family (a dad) building their own house with no money and it’s taking ages…and I remember this house. I believe it doesn’t get done in time for the first episode so they come back to it later…and I might be conflating it with a different house, but I’m pretty sure it’s not even finished in that later episode and all the children have grown up and moved away. We’ll see. Almost done with it.
That happens sometimes. It happened, more or less, with my fa...
