Day 4,209: Dubs
What job would I like to do for just one day?
So many! The first thing that came to mind, probably because I just watched the Warriors beat the Timberwolves, would be to, like, manage, coach, or otherwise just work for a professional sports team. When I was younger, that would have been to play for a pro sports team, but not these days. Then the next thing that came to mind, because it was my childhood dream job, would be to drive a train. Trains get to go through some of the most beautiful, ...

Day 4,208: Big Dog Energy
I was tiiired today y’all…but I got all my shit done 🙂 hell yeah.
It was a normal work day for me today, which I really, really needed. I was looking forward to it, in fact. And doubly proud of myself because Liz’s dad was in town, which can bump my focus…but it didn’t. In large part because my writing goals are so doable these days. Six pages a day. Nothing. Two hours of work, if that, sometimes. When I’m flowing, six pages can come in just over an hour.
I am wiped, though. Took a quick n...

Day 4,207: Frenz
Had a magnificent dinner tonight to celebrate Liz and her birthday with some of the people whom she loves the most. It was at the french cafe/bakery we went to a couple days ago for breakfast. Loved it. Great food. Great wine. The best company. Really really really special.
I really got down and dirty, finally, on the front yard parking spot project. I got some significant digging done. A ten-foot by twenty-foot rectangle. Gotta go down four inches, then fill that with gravel, compact it, and...

Day 4,206: Dig Dig Dig
I …need to do more outdoor work. I am too wiped, lol. Too wiped. But, I made progress on the front yard. REAL progress. Gonna do some digging tomorrow. I outlined the parking space. Got all the weeds cleared from letting those go for a bit. And it’s only going to be cool weather for tomorrow and the following day, so now is the time. The digging will be the most labor intensive part. Sigh. But I can do it!
Lin is in town. We had a really nice dinner in Beverly Hills. Watched the sprint race a...

Day 4,205: NBD
First of all, Happy Happy Birthday to the love of my life, Elizabeth Ho. I love you, Bear!
We spent the entire day together! I took off work, and we went and got delicious french pastries from a bakery in Pasadena called Oh La La (still deciding if that’s pronounced with an “oo” like the phrase we all know, or “oh” like it’s spelled). It was delicious! The kouign-amann especially (which is kind of like a caramelized-sugar version of a croissant).
Went to the Huntington after that and walke...

Day 4,204: Wai
Is there a quote I live my life by or think of often?
Several, but the first one that comes to mind is: do less more often. Shout out to Dallas Travers for teaching me that one. I don’t think she does mindset and business coaching for actors anymore, but she used to, and that one really stuck with me. It’s truly—for me—the trick to sustained creativity. Before encountering that philosophy, I didn’t really think about how I went about being productive. I did it when I felt like it, which meant...

Day 4,203: Pages!
What is my favorite holiday, and why?
Christmas. Always has been and always will be. What a magical time of year, right? Family. Baked goods. Pretty decorations. Its cold—and where I grew up: wet—so we all get cozy. There’s travel, and festivals, and parties, and we’re thinking about the year that’s gone by and spending time with our loved ones. It’s hard when we’ve lost loved ones, I know; I’ve been through that very personally…but I have found with time that it’s made me enjoy, savor the ho...

Day 4,202: World
A zero day writing-wise. I was too amped up from last night I think. The playoff game. Some news about a friend of ours. And just a long work day, you know? So…tonight, trying to take it chill, get to bed on time and whatnot.
Forgot my iPad out in my office so we’re thumbing it tonight. A solid day. Got everything else done. Was able to spend some QT with Bear. We started a new doc that looks really good about Saturation Divers and a big accident that happened. Harrowing! I think everyone is ...

Day 4,201: Peptide Cake
It was a long long day. Warriors won to go up 3-1, got up on time to write in the AM, and Netflix work was so busy I didn’t get to write in the PM, but that’s okay. Now it’s late and sleep beckons. Night night.
