Day 2,674: Violence

So, there’s a ticktok “meme”…or, trend, or I suppose just “ticktok” going around right now in which a person does something extreme in the realm of passive aggressiveness—like, for example, changing their Netflix streaming account from 4 screens to 1 screen so as to kick off friends or family members that are using their login—and say “I woke up today, and I chose violence.”

It’s very funny.

And I’m so glad I just explained it in written form. So sure it translates perfectly.

For All Ma...

Day 2,673: Outage

The power is out!

There was an electrical fire next door down in the sub-basement/garage of the bank. It flooded…either because it seems like there was a flood up the street from us and water got down there, or more likely just because the fire department used water hoses to put the fire out, which flooded the electrical room…but either way, they had to shut off power to our whole block.

We were practically done with our evening, anyway. Didn’t affect us at all, really, except we didn’t ge...

Day 2,672: Letting Go

I didn’t have the BEST Monday, but it was pretty damn good. It started with frustration.

I didn’t have a very good night’s sleep, a recurring theme with my Mondays of late. And pretty sure I know why: I put pressure on Mondays. I shouldn’t. But, I do. I’m working on it. Because I didn’t get a good night’s sleep, I woke up late. Not too late. I was out of bed by 8:30 and sitting down for work 45 minutes later after having fed the pups and done my first workout.

But…I didn’t write. So, I was...

Day 2,671: Here for the Treats

Another solid Sunday.

For real…I got some stuff done—the laundry, for one—but not a ton done. And that was nice. I had therapy, hung out with Bear and the pups. She had some auditions to tape, so we taped those. I took a nap. I wanted to go out and take a bike ride because it was beautiful out, but I opted instead to get some other stuff done. Glad I did.

I have a lot to do tomorrow. A list of shit to just get done that I’ve been putting off for a while. Hopefully work is a bit slow again ...

Day 2,670: Gibson

Reading tonight about William Gibson. Quite a literary career he’s had. He’s turned out what appears to be pretty good work for several decades now…but it is fascinating to me that his most revered work was his very first novel.

What an odd feeling that must be; to have peaked in the eyes of the world—for whatever that’s worth, certainly—with your first-ever novel. On the one hand, you only need to have one masterpiece. On the other…you’re never going to match the peak of your FIRST EVER nove...

Day 2,669: Blankets on the Bed

Check in.

How am I doing? How am I feeling? Where am I at?

I was exhausted in the beginning of this week. No doubt. Exhausted with work, with the project Liz and I are working on, waiting for news on a job Liz was up for…I was wiped.

This week did a lot to help that. I don’t feel exhausted right now. I feel ready to rock, actually.

I always suffer a little bit on the psyche front whenever my week isn’t structured like normal, or put another way: when I take time “off.” I need it, obv...

Day 2,668: Levels, Jerry

It late, so we make this quick.

I had a DAY. So busy. Good busy. Client work. Podcasting. Work work. Pups. Watched some fun stuff on the TV. Did I mention podcasting? And client work?

Tomorrow…gonna finish this story grid re-certification reading. That’s step one. Gotta get it. And by this time next week, I want to have a rough breakdown of all the scenes. This book is GREAT, by the way. I love it. One of the first genuinely great books I’ve read in…man, a long time. Almost as long as I ca...

Day 2,667: Yup

Moving forward.

Today was a good day. I didn’t wake up suuuper early, but I got up early enough! Did my writing, which went really quite well for being a little rusty after a week or so away. And then I did a bunch of other items on my to-do list. Whew!

Tomorrow will be a busy day. Got client work. Work-work. Story Grid re-certification stuff. AND writing.

Busy.

Day.

So looking forward to it. So very much.

And in that regard…I am knocking off for the night. Want to get my shut ...

Day 2,666: The Horizon

I did not get up on time today. I slept in. And you know what? I needed it. I needed another slow day today. It was stressful for me to take it that way today, but I’m glad I did.

Tomorrow, I am resolved. It’s back to work. Shit needs to get done. And I have a long list of that shit 😛 First and foremost on my mind is getting back to the writing. I’ve succumbed to resistance in that regard for the past couple weeks—paired with a truly hectic work schedule—but, I really do think that only means ...

Day 2,665: Wins

Persistence wins the day, my friends. More than anything, persistence wins.

It’s not everything. Definitely not. The definition of madness is doing something the same way over and over and expecting a different result. So, it is certainly more than just persistence. But, what I’m saying is that persistence matters the most. It’s what most of us fail to give something we want or need.

I try to be persistent. I don’t always succeed, but I do sometimes. Those are my breakthroughs. And oh are ...
