Day 3,342: Puzzin It Up
It’s laaaate so I’m making this entry a quick one tonight, but Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, and Happy Holidays to all the rest.
I got up early and took care of the animals—NUGGET LET ME PET HER THIS MORNING—then we went and hung out with the Kings for the rest of the morning till around 1pm. Came home. Had an EPIC nap. And then we walked the pups and went over to the Clements’ house to eat dinner and hang out. We ended up finishing a 1000 piece Die Hard mondo puzzle. Excellent w...

Day 3,341: Christmas Eve
I remember Christmas Eve…must have been 2014, I think? I finished the first draft of my first novel. Might have been the day before, but either way, we were up in the Bay Area (San Francisco) visiting family. We’d just gotten married a couple months earlier. I was reading and writing up SciFi classics that I’d always wanted to read but hadn’t gotten around to.
I want to bring that back, by the way, in 2023: read more books. Not all of them classics, maybe. Need some room for other stuff, both...

Day 3,340: Almost
It’s almost Christmas.
I got some shopping done this afternoon. A few hours I have to make up for work because of it, but it was worth it to not be out there trying to do it tomorrow.
Holidays crept up on me like for real tho. It’s literally Christmas in two days. WTF?! The holidays usually creep up on me, or at least they have because we haven’t traveled the past couple years, but this year for REAL it’s like I blinked and here we are. I wonder how much of it was not going to the writers ...

Day 3,339: Doo Doo
A very productive day! Work was solid. I didn’t get quiiiiite as much done as I wanted to, but close enough. I can make up the gap tomorrow or over the break very easily.
Got my haircut! Whew. Just in time for Christmas. Feels soooo gooood.
Hung out with Panda in the evening and watched an episode of Grand Designs that we haven’t seen yet. Goddamn love that show. For reals, I want to buy the entire series, all seasons, starting all the way back in 2001, I think. Watch them all. That’s the ...
Luke Daniels Signs On To Glory Audiobooks
Luke Daniels, one of the preeminent audiobook narrators in the SciFi space with credits including Marko Kloos’ blockbuster Terms of Enlistment series and classics suck as Phillip K. Dick, has signed on to narrate the Glory audiobooks, which are forthcoming from Podium Publishing.
That second bit is also news, I suppose! 😛 Craig approached Podium at the most recent 20Books Vegas trade show and conference, and they jumped at the chance to pick the series up and produce the audiobooks.
To say...

Day 3,338: Lightening The Load
It’s starting. I’m starting to feel less burned out. Less overwhelmed. Finishing up all the shit that’s built up on my plate over the last year or so is finally, finally starting to get wrestled under control. And I feel SO MUCH BETTER for it.
Liz and I, for example, just had a little impromptu date night. We went over to the Farmer’s Market and got hot chocolate from Willams-Sonoma—if you don’t know about their hot chocolate, holy shit get on that—and then decided to eat there since neither ...

Day 3,337: A Step Up
Giving myself credit just for a moment, here: I’ve come a long way.
The Glory series is doing well. I’m about to write my fourth novel—the fourth of dozens to come. My coworkers are happy with the work I do, and I’m happy with the same. I’m sitting in my bedroom right now in the house that I own along with my wife. Coco is by my side, who just had back surgery that we were able to pay for out of pocket. And, while I’m still not back to 100% from whatever the fuck this bug is that I caught two...

Day 3,336: Narrator
Got word today that a rather big-name narrator is able and willing to do the Glory audiobooks that Podium is handling for us. Who your narrator is matters quite a bit in the audiobook world, so it’s really exciting news.
Glory is the little series that could. We have two books out—just two—with a third in the works—and we cleared five figures just this month in revenue. Granted, much of that is the advances Podium paid out for the upcoming audiobooks, but still; it’s revenue off this series w...

Day 3,335: The Girl Who Plays With Fire
Coco had an interesting little episode today. We were in the bedroom taking a nap and she was out in the living where she likes to hang out, and suddenly we heard her struggling on the hardwood to move around. Liz went out to check on her, and she was laying on the floor. Then, Liz noticed some wet spots on the floor, and a spot over elsewhere by the patio door that looked like throw-up maybe, and Coco started reverse sneezing and kind of collapsed.
Scary.
But…then she was fine. And she’s ...

Day 3,334: Let’s See…
Back in bed! The main bed. I’d spent the last week+ holed up in the second bedroom because I was sick. That’s our hack for not getting each other sick: sleep in separate beds. Mask up when we hang out in the common space. Works pretty damn well, guys. Liz didn’t get what I had. Good to be back. I love our bed. Second bed is nice, don’t get me wrong, but there’s nothing like the main bed.
So…Coco has been barking up a storm lately around bed time. Pretty sure she’s going to do it tonight, even...
