You always dream about a dreamer.

A charmer, and a heartwarmer—

Patrick Swayze in the summer

Teaching you how to dance.

You want the real deal,

But don’t you know,

Real isn’t dance lessons,

And if it is, you’re not going to

Learn all those moves in just one week.

It is going to take months and years

Of practice, practice, practice.

It’s going to hurt and it’s going to

Make your feet ache

And your heart break

And when you’ve swallowed every last drop at the bottom of the barrel

You’ll have to keep on practicing,

Because if you stop for a minute,

You’ll lose it all.

You want a real love,

Well you got to keep practicing

Your way.

You have to teach your heart that

Love is solely meant for you,

And you deserve the real deal

You have in your mind.

You have to practice the mantra “I am okay, I am worthy,”

Over and over again.

Practice and practice and practice.

You have to know that its the hardest to let go and start again,

It’s hardest to move on.

It is hardest to still stand after

All those dance lessons.

You just want to sit down and rest

For a while,

But if you do

you fear you might lose it all.

Practice patience,

And rest.

Work on your self esteem

Not your hypothetical scenarios.

It is okay to take a break as long

As you know you won’t give up on that dream of yours—

Dreaming about your dreamer,

Your real deal.

Go put your feet up,

You’re worth some rest,

And you’re worth some love.

You’re worth some songs

And you’re worth some laughs.

You’re worth all that dreaming

Boost this please!!! New LGBT book!!

jamjarsthebook:

jamjarsthebook:

I have released and will be releasing a free, online book called Jam Jars. The book is an LGBT book with mystery, action and adventure. It’s completely free and can be read on Wattpad and Archive of our Own. I’ve worked very hard on this and only hope that people will read and enjoy it, so please give the book a go yourself and spread the word. Here is the blurb:

The city of Bochardess has never been kind to Vera, but by some stroke of luck she has finally managed to get herself a friend in high places, and a job.

Vera has been assigned as Emma’s bodyguard. Vera has never been a bodyguard before. She doesn’t know what she’s protecting Emma from, she doesn’t know who Emma is and she doesn’t know why she’s so eager to help her. All she knows is the job pays well, and she doesn’t have another option.

Then Emma is attacked. Vera, fellow bodyguard Tsuru and Emma embark on a search to figure out what is going on, but it soon becomes clear that they are facing forces far greater than they could have imagined.

Toeing the line between giving up and letting her rage loose, Vera finds her situation ever more perilous as the days go by.

Can Vera, Tsuru and Emma figure out the mysteries of Bochardess before everything is lost?

Thank you for helping me spread the word and have a lovely day!

Mood’s gone down and I have no idea why,

I wrote my feelings down and I saw a fly…fly.

Tempting rain clouds come to threaten my existence,

Doesn’t bother me much

‘Cause I’ll continue on with much persistence.

You’re not me and I don’t desire to be you,

I wish you’d understand though when I say I need you.

I don’t need your advice,

I don’t need your words,

I just need you.

To be there so I can pull through.

You’ve got your problems

Yeah you’ve got your issues,

Won’t get into details 'cause I’m all out of tissues,

But maybe if we were there for each other,

I wouldn’t have been compelled to write these words or others.

Buckets of kaleidoscopes are falling down,

They’re falling down.

And I’ll walk through the rain

'Cause at least I’d feel something,

I’d feel something.

If you love someone then love them.

If you love someone then love them.

Don’t give them a smile

And make 'em feel like they’re not worthwhile.

You know I used to love to smile.

Shopping for hurricanes or what have you

Makes me depressed.

The rain is honestly the least of my problems right now.

Let’s go dancing tonight,

We could wander—coddiwomple around in the shadows of our minds—

Digging into a past that would want to be forgotten,

But displaces the present if it was so.

Choosing electives as you chose those shoes, poorly—

As you continue to dance and lift your legs but feet hurting at each turn.

You only seek love, and to please,

So you hurt on, letting your heart break as you keep on pleasing.

Your dress is flying and you’re dying—

But you have to keep on dancing because you don’t want to be a burden— don’t want to stop the music and get some ice for your foot.

The show can go on as your soul slips away.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s book and film review

I finished reading this book late last night, I remember I had tried to read it before, a couple years ago but I never got around to finishing it then. I must say I rather enjoyed the book, I think it’s probably the paper towns of the sixties. There were quite a few similarities I saw with both stories; not exact of course.

Holly Golightly does fill the manic pixie dream girl status a little bit, but I will dare to say not entirely. I think they made her more that way in the  film adaptation, but in the book she simply lived as she liked and she made mistakes and bad decisions along the way, just as anyone. Sure, the main character ends up falling in love with someone he can’t have, but the way Holly is described in the novella is as a person, not a fantasy.

The film followed pretty close the book, omitting some of the darker aspects of the story and changing the ending to one of romance instead of reality. The film tamed Holly, it made her find her way. The book did just the opposite; she never stopped exploring or trying to find that place of ‘home,’ she kept on going on her adventures and picking up sugar daddies maybe. Films often romanticize dark storylines, and in this one it gave us the ending everyone wanted, not necessarily the ending that was supposed to be. I don’t judge the film for this change, I rather enjoyed it but must say that I preferred the book more than the film. The portrayals of the actors in the film were very good, despite Capote not liking Hepburn for the roll of Holly I think she did wonderfully; she embodied the Holly we all wanted.

Classic film, classic novella, great story.

I love my love book review

What can I say about this book of poetry? I can say that I enjoyed it immensely. It was an absolute joy to read, and it was written in a very grand way, so simple but moving all the same. I read it in one sitting, and it is most definitely a book that I would look through and read again and again. The words were amazing, the setup and formatting were wonderful, Reyna Biddy is definitely a new favorite poet of mine, and I look forward to reading new material from her in the future.

Milk and Honey book review

Well I shall be quite honest in this review.

I did not really enjoy this book. I liked the setup, I liked the formatting, but the words didn’t penetrate my soul on a heavenly level, like I believe most poetic books should. The flow did not stand out to me, and I feel like it could have been worked on more. For the ones who did enjoy this book, I’m glad you did, but I fear I do not agree with all of the hype. I think it has been overhyped and I am sorry that I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I was hoping too.
