Our God Plans Ahead- Lessons from the life of Jonah
[image error]
When I read the book of Jonah one phrase always catches my attention. Four times we read the words ‘God prepared’ or the ‘Lord had prepared.” This tells me that God always plans ahead or better yet, because he already sees tomorrow he knows what we need before we do. Nothing ever catches him off guard or by surprise. He never says, “Didn’t see that one coming.” He never worries or frets about a situation. He always has all things under his control. The things that happen in our lives are no...

Deleted Scene- Whither Shall I Go?
I thought you all might enjoy reading some of the deleted scenes from my debut novel, Whither Shall I Go?. This first one was the original prologue– the day Ellie was born. In the near future, I plan to post more of these deleted scenes, all of them revolving around Ellie’s adventures in Cades Cove before the tragedy. Enjoy!
The bitter cold and thick snow blanketed the mountain, and icicles hung like jagged teeth from the edge of the roof. Trees, bent under the weight of the heavy snow, a...

Book Review- Love’s Unfading Light
By: Naomi Rawlings
Book One in the Eagle Harbor series
Tressa Danell is finished with men—from the wastrel who left her a widow, to the smelly trapper who keeps proposing, to the banker who wants to repossess her bakery. Every hour is spent working to pay off her late husband’s debt and keep a roof over her son’s head, though it’s doubtful she can do both for very long. But one thing’s certain—she’ll never be beholden to a man again.
Tired of living in a sm...

Movie Monday- Movie reviews
Holyman Undercover
An Amish man comes to Hollywood to be a missionary and gets cast as Satan on a nighttime soap opera.
My Thoughts:
We were so disappointed by this movie. We’ve enjoyed other films with David A. R. White, so we expected this one to be the same pure quality.
This was not a clean film. Nor is it family-friendly.
I’ve watched PG-13 secular films with less sexual innuendos- both heterosexual and homosexual. I know what they were trying to express, but they went way overboard.

This week, 8 years ago, my husband and I went through one of the greatest trials of our lives. We were considering a move to Colorado and so, Daniel and I had gone on a survey trip to find a good church and put a contract on a house. We left our 22 month old daughter in the hands of trusted babysitters. They did a great job. When we returned from our trip, two days later, our little one woke up with a fever and flu symptoms. I took her to see her pediatrician and he said he looked like a sum...

Throwback Thursday
In honor of throwback Thursday, I’m sharing some poems I wrote way back when. I believe it was in my late childhood years or early teens. Don’t laugh… too hard!
I’m sure I was older than in this picture. But I thought it was so cute. The Noisy Geese[image error]
Hear the noisy geese go by,
As they fly up in the sky.
Listen as they honk so loud,
Then they disappear in the cloud.
Sounds
Drip, drop goes the rain.
Chew, chew says the train.
Bow, wow barks the dog.
Then you hear that croaking frog.
A Frien...

Guest Post on the Faith in Writing Blog
Read my guest post on the Faith in Writing Blog– Have you lost your song?
Please welcome Gina Holder to Faith in Writing. She has written a post for our Musical Wednesdays feature.
On any given Sunday morning in any given church, there’s one thing that stands out above anything else. Many in the congregation are not singing. They don’t even hold a hymnal and pretend to sing. They stand there like stoic beings with their arms crossed and not a word of praise passes over...
