Twice Bitten

The latest book in the Argeneau series, Twice Bitten, will be released on March 27th. This story is about Elspeth who we met way back in the first book, A Quick Bite, and she’s having a heck of a time with her life mate. Suffice it to say there are just some times when a gal wishes she could control her life mate, and there are some mortals who can give an immortal a run for their money. ;-)
Here's the link to the Twice Bitten webpage.

The twenty-seventh Argeneau book is being released on the twenty-seventh of March. Nifty coincidence, huh?

Though she doesn't recall it, Elspeth met her life mate years ago and then lost him. Now lightning is about to strike again, throwing them together once more. She's going to get a second chance at happiness. All she has to do is escape the familial chains holding her back.

To celebrate this upcoming release we've decided to run another awesome contest called the Lightning Strikes Twice contest! All you have to do is tell us about a time where a happy coincidence or lightning struck twice in your life and you'll be entered into the draw for a chance to win the grand prize of a MaBelle 18K White Gold Solitaire Diamond Curved Lightning Pendant worth $620 USD.
Contest details can be found here...

Good luck and happy reading!

Surrender To The Highlander upcoming release...

Book #5 of my Highlander’s series, Surrender To The Highlander, is just about here! This one’s about Edith and the fourth eldest Buchanan brother, Niels Buchanan. As I promised on my Facebook page this week, here’s a little sneak peek…

Saidh asks her brothers to drop by and check on her friend Edith who she hasn’t heard from in a while. Last she heard Edith was sick and she’s getting worried. As promised, Niels, Geordie, Rory and Alick stop by but they’re denied entrance in to the Drummond castle…

“Bloody hell! Open the damned gate and let us see Lady Edith, ye whoremonger, or we’ll set it alight and smash it down ourselves.”
Alick’s threat made Niels shake his head, because threats were all they were. Setting fire to the Drummond gates and smashing them down was the last thing they were going to do. Hell, with just the four of them there, he wasn’t sure they even could. Though it would be fun trying, he acknowledged.
Still, they weren’t here to start a war with the Drummonds. Their only task was to check on their sister’s friend and report back to Saidh on how she fared. Unfortunately, nothing short of their actually seeing the lass was likely to keep Saidh from insisting on trying to ride out here to see her for herself. And he suspected even that wouldn’t be enough. Once they’d agreed to come, she’d insisted on accompanying them. Only Rory’s warning that the journey might harm her unborn babes had kept her at home. Well, that and Greer’s threat to tie her to their bed and keep her there under guard until the babes were born did she even try mounting a horse.
Niels shook his head again at the thought. Babes, as in plural. As in his sister was bearing more than one babe. Rory suspected it was twins. Alick and Geordie were sure it was going to be more and were betting on the size of the litter. Alick was guessing three, Geordie four. Niels thought they were both mad. Women did not have litters of three and four. Twins alone were a rarity. Three or four . . . well . . . he’d heard old wives’ tales about some woman way back when, or from a distant land, having three bairns in one birth, but he was sure an old wives’ tale was all it was. Still . . . Saidh was huge enough to be carrying three or four.
Raising his gaze to the men on the gate tower, he shouted out calmly, “We just wish to see yer lady. Our sister, her friend Lady Saidh MacDonnell, is concerned for yer lady’s welfare. If ye do no’ wish to open the gate, then jest have yer lady come to the gate and let us see her so that we can tell our sister she is well and healthy.”
The men on the wall all glanced at each other, and then one said, “I thought it was Lady Edith ye were interested in, no’ our lady?”
“Aye.” Niels frowned. “Is Edith no’ lady here? I understood her mother was dead and she was lady here now.”
“She was,” the man called back, “But Brodie, the youngest son, married and his wife, Lady Victoria is now lady here. And the laird ordered that the gate no’ be opened to anyone until they return.”
Niels’s eyebrows rose at the news. He hadn’t heard of the marriage, and was a bit surprised that the youngest son’s bride would be allowed to step in and replace the daughter of the house as lady. Perhaps had the eldest brother and heir married, his wife as future Lady of Drummond would have stepped in, but the wife of the youngest son?
Still, that wasn’t his issue to deal with here so he merely set that information aside to consider later, and said, “Well, ’tis Lady Edith we are interested in. Saidh has sent three messengers and received no response. She asked us to come and see her to be sure she is well.” He paused a beat and then added, “She felt sure that, Scottish hospitality being what it is, ye’d no’ turn away noblemen as ye have mere messengers.”
The men above them began to argue back and forth. It seemed someone up there felt they should be allowed entrance. Others obviously didn’t agree and he waited patiently as the argument continued. After a moment, however, he repeated, “We need not enter to please our sister. If ye would jest have Lady Edith come to the gate to assure us she is well we could be on our way.”
“She can no’,” the earlier speaker said and then admitted grimly, “She is too weak to make her way to the gate.”
“She’s still ill then?” Rory asked next to him, concern in his voice.
“Verra.” The man sounded weary. “She’s hanging on by a thread and lasted longer than her father and the two older brothers, but she’s no’ long fer this world. A shame too, she’s provin’ herself a fighter. Would have made a good clan leader.”
Niels’s eyes widened at the news that Ronald Drummond and his two elder sons were dead, but supposed it explained how the youngest son’s wife could now act as lady of the castle.
Rory shifted restlessly in the saddle next to him, and Niels glanced over as he pointed out, “Saidh’ll no’ be happy if we leave with no more news than that the woman still ails.”
Nodding, Niels raised his head to call out, “We’ll no’ be leaving here until the lass is either dead or back on her feet. Our sister would accept no less.”
“We’ll tell ye when she dies then,” the voice called back.
Rory muttered under his breath.
Ignoring him, Niels said, “Or ye could let us in. Me brother here is the finest healer in Scotland. He may yet be able to save Lady Edith.”
Silence reigned for a moment and then another hissed argument took place above.
Niels tried to wait patiently, but really, this wasn’t done. He’d barely had the thought when Alick muttered angrily behind him, “This is a farce. A Scot does no’ leave allies standing at the gate like beggars and refuse them entrance.”
“No’ if they want to keep them as allies,” Geordie agreed in a growl.
“Geordie and Alick are right, Niels. This is beyond the pale,” Rory said grimly. “I could be in there right now helping the lass, if they would but—”
Niels raised his hand to silence him and bellowed, “Quit yer bickering up there and use yer heads! Me brother can help her. Do ye care so little fer yer kin? What will yer laird, her brother, think when I tell him ye let her die? And I’ll be sure to tell him too. Now open the damned gates ye lackwitted oafs, or I’ll climb this wall meself, slit yer throats and open it mes—”
Niels paused midthreat as the gate began to rise. Eyebrows lifting, he murmured, “Hmm. Looks like they’re opening the gate.”
“I can no’ imagine why,” Rory muttered, rolling his eyes.
“Must be me natural charm,” Niels said with a shrug, urging his horse forward before the men on the wall could change their minds and lower the gate again.
“Oh aye, for certain. The Buchanan charm wins out every time,” Geordie agreed, following him onto the bridge.
“Brothers,” Rory reprimanded, urging his mount between theirs, “if this is the kind of charm you display on a regular basis on your journeys, ’tis no wonder I’m always having to patch ye up on yer return.”
“Nay, charm’s nothing to do with that,” Niels assured him. “Pity is the reason we return with wounds.”
“Pity?” Rory asked with bewilderment.
“Aye, well we have to let our adversaries get at least a lick or two in, else they’d be demoralized at being bested so roundly,” Niels said reasonably.

Immortally Yours is out!

Beth and Scotty's story, Immortally Yours, is finally out on the bookstore shelves! YAY! Seems like just yesterday I handed this story in to my editor! Beth is an awesome heroine. Although she'd been put through the ringer time and time again as a mortal, she overcame the hand she was dealt and thrived as an enforcer. And Scotty, crusty stubborn Scotsman that he is, is about to learn a lot from Beth. She’s definitely his equal and will never allow Scotty to rule over ANYTHING in her life.

So, I finished my last two books on my last two contracts; one historical and one Argeneau. Now I have some free time. Woot woot woot!! And I started on and even finished several projects in the evenings this last week. A new cushion for Teddy’s dog bed that goes in my office. A new mattress or cushion for the dog bed in the kitchen (both of which had been eaten by the dogs who just love giving me projects). I also replaced the low toilet in the downstairs bathroom for a higher one, and I’ve been refinishing and painting a table that we keep the dog dishes on in the kitchen. Nearly done that. Hmm, just realized as I wrote this that other than the toilet, all of my projects were dog related. Guess I must love the mangy mutts, lol.

I suppose I’ll have to consider new projects. Or maybe new books. I could finish the new Argeneau I have two thirds done. I was having fun with it. It has pirates. Yes, you read that right. Pirates. They are immortals and used to be proper pirates, but now sail around the Caribbean luring tourists onto their pirate ship ostensibly to sail out and feed the sharks. Of course, the mortals think the pirates are just in costume as a tourist attraction. They don’t realize there is no chum involved, the sharks they’ll be feeding are the pirates, and that they, the tourists, are the ones on the menu. Bwahahahaha. Oh, sorry. I was having fun with this one. The hero is a Notte, one of Christian’s cousins from the band. I think his name is Raffaele, but I suck at remembering names so might have it wrong. It’s not Santo or Zanipolo. Santo’s story comes after Raff. I already have a story idea and heroine for him, even started that book too. Yes, now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure it’s Raff in the pirate story. But Santo and Zani are there with him. They’re actually all there because Raff and Zani had to take Santo away on a vacation to help him get over what Dr. Nasty did to him in Immortal Unchained. Zani picked the vacation spot, and Raff is none too pleased with the hot and sunny choice he made . . . until he meets Jess. Jess is in the Caribbean as a guest of a relative’s wedding, and her cousin dragged her onto the ship of pirates who happen to be rogue immortals run by one Captain Vasco. Oh my Gawd he was so much fun! Guess I should stop there or I’ll be giving the whole story away!

So, change of topic, but not much of a change . . . I’ve been toying with titles for my vampire pirates. I’m considering Ship of Rogues, Vampirates, and The S.S. Immortal. Those are a few I’ve come up with. But I suck at titles so any opinions or ideas would be appreciated. Maybe we should have a contest. If someone comes up with a better title and we use it, they get something. Yeah, I’ll talk to Terri about it. So if you have a title idea, hang onto it and wait for the contest. But any opinions on the ones I’ve listed would be appreciated in the meantime.

So, that’s all from me now. Later guys!!

Summer Bliss

The days have been flying by this summer so fast that I'm a little shocked it's already mid July! Where does the time go?

As you can hopefully see (pic I attached below) the pups have been busy helping us with our summertime activities like fishing. Although they're not very helpful, they do add some humor and a degree of difficulty to what would be an otherwise easy task... LOL.

As for what's coming up next...
My upcoming release is a reissue of one of my hysterical historicals, Bliss , out on July 25th ! It’s about two feuding neighbors who have been bending the king’s ear with complaints about each other for years. Unfortunately for them, the king has had enough of their bickering and decided they should work it out themselves...as a married couple. Uh-oh!

In my Argeneau series...
The next installment of the Argeneau series, book #26, comes out on September 26th. It's called Immortally Yours and it involves Beth Argenis and Scotty, both of which we heard about in Harper and Drina's story, The Reluctant Vampire. With so many enforcers off on assignment, Mortimer is desperate for experienced rogue hunters and Beth, having been an enforcer in Spain for the past hundred years or so, knows the job inside and out and decides to answer the call. Only Scotty, a bothersome itch Beth has never scratched, decided he should come along and help as well.

Argeneau book #27 is about Elspeth who we met way back in the first book, A Quick Bite, and she’s having a heck of a time with her life mate. Suffice it to say there are just some times when a gal wishes she could control her life mate, and there are some mortals who can give an immortal a run for their money. ;-)

In my Highlanders series...
Edith's story, Surrender to the Highlander, is book #5 in the series and will be coming out January 30th, 2018! The last of the friends of Jo, Saidh and Murine hooks up with another of the Buchanan brothers, Niels.

The 6th installment to the series features the eldest Buchanan brother, Aulay. Those Buchanan boys are something else, and fun to play with, so stay tuned for more hints and teasers about these two upcoming books.

Other news...
My latest releases, Falling for the Highlander and Immortal Unchained, both hit the NYT and the USAT Bestseller's lists so thank you my awesome readers as you're the ones that made that happen! ;-)

I hope you're enjoying your summer and have time to spend some of it having fun with those you love!

Hugs,

Immortal Unchained is OUT!

Argeneau book #25, Immortal Unchained, is now out on the bookstore shelves! Yay!

It felt like this release took forever to come out and I think the reason it because I've had parts of this story in my head for some time. It's nice to see it finally in print. ;-)

So to celebrate this release we decided to have a little fun and run a contest. And due to the popularity of the last one we decided to do another Argeneau Escape Room challenge only this time it will run for 3 weeks and each week there will be a new room to escape from!

This week's escape room challenge is called the "Basement" and it has some wild and not so wonderful things you must deal with before you can escape. This scene runs until this Wednesday @ midnight.
(Note: This is for contest purposes only and not based on a story.)

Go here to find out more...

Groundhog Day...

Happy Groundhog Day everyone!

It looks like our local groundhog, Princess Sandy from Port Stanley, didn't see her shadow this morning and according to the experts it means we should see an early spring this year.

To top it off Staten Island Chuck didn't see his shadow either and since his accuracy rate is around 80% I think we can say good riddance to old man winter!

In spite of these optimistic signs I'm still keeping my fingers and toes crossed for that early spring...we’re counting on you Chuck and Sandy!

Falling For The Highlander is out!

Murine Carmichael's story, Falling for the Highlander, is finally out on the bookstore shelves and online...yay!

This is book #4 in my Scottish Highlanders series and it concerns Murine Carmichael, another friend of Jo and Saidh's whom we met in To Marry A Scottish Laird.

Murine is in trouble. Her brother has wagered away her dowry and now he's on the brink of using her as a commodity to stave off his creditors. She has to find a way to escape him before his plans for her come to fruition. Transportation, however, is an issue because he also wagered away their horses. Murine's story starts with our heroine fleeing her half-brother's castle on the back of her pet bull Henry. And of course a bull is not the most speedy transportation option...

And before I forget...this story also involves the Buchanan brothers. ;-)
