Five days, five “winners”

WWNNmmCoverI stopped in at at Nicola’s this weekend to sign the mass markets of The Witch With No Name that you guys have been buying, and I got the word on their deadline to order a signed/personalized, first-edition Drafter. They will be starting to ship on the week of August 31, and the sooner you order, the sooner it will go out.

But as for me and the Drafter ARCs. Well. I was going to wait, but I can’t wait any longer. My intent was to go ten days and then pick ten winners, but we’re at the halfway point, and I’m going to give away five of the ten Drafter ARCs to readers who have posted a picture of them and their swag on my FB and Instagram TODAY.

If you see your picture below, check your accounts for a email from me so I can get your address to send you your ARC. Everyone else, keep sending me your pics of your swag at my FB page or instagram at #kimharrison. I’ll give away the other five on the 6/22.

You can enter up to three times if you have more than one favorite, (on your honor) and you can post each entry on FB and Instagram to double your chances. I will randomly choose the last five winners of the Drafter ARCs on Monday the 22nd, noon, EST, and I’ll ask for the winners to contact me with their U.S. shipping info at that time. (So if you don’t get back to be by the 29th with your address, I’m going to give the ARC to someone else.) For full rules, check out the original post here

The first five winners are:

Do you want a Drafter ARC? I’ve got 10 begging

I got my give-away ARCS today! Ten beautiful copies I am wanting to send out to ten readers for an early taste of Peri, Jack, and Silas. Which begs the question, how?

TenARCs

So here is what I’m going to do. 10 books, 10 days. U.S. only. (I’m sorry, but it costs too much to send overseas.)

You post a picture of you and your favorite Kim Harrison swag at either:

1: My facebook page with the words, “My favorite Kim Harrison Swag”  Post right on the page. I’ve opened it up for photos, so they should show.

or

2: Post a picture of your favorite Kim Harrison swag at Instagram at #kimharrison so I know you’re entering.

I will randomly choose ten U.S. readers to receive a Drafter ARC at the end of ten days. You remember the swag, right?

Ready? Set? Go post your picture!

I know I’ve forgotten something, and I’ll be editing this post to reflect whatever that is when you guys point that something out. I’ve never tried to use Instagram to run a give-away before, so this is going to be interesting.

Things to keep in mind:

U.S. only.

Can enter only three times, using a different photo each time.

Starts today, 6/11, ends 6/21, noon, EST. I announce winners on 6/22 and ask for mailing address then.

If winners don’t respond with address by 6/29, the ARC goes to someone else.

I’m new at Instagram, so don’t ask me any questions if it’s all new to you, too. (Arrrg!!)

Knights in White Satin

Tim is my knight, handling the white satin, and if you get that, then you’re at least as old as I am. Wow, did we get SASEs last week! He’s got the first batch out, so go ahead and post you and your glass tech phone on FB or Instagram so I can see that it’s all worth the effort to make these things. I don’t think we’ve ever had this kind of response before.  [send me a SASE]

SASE3

But what has me smiling today is something we found under our front porch this morning. We’re doing some reconstruction to try to put the porch back to a photo we have of it at 1890 something, and the guys found a bunch of bottles in an old foundation where an old parlor window used to be. We’re not putting the parlor window back. It would mean taking off the porch entirely, and that’s just not going to happen. My favorite bottle is the one with the paper wrapper still on it, for Raven Liquid Stove Polish.

Tim and I have been calling our home Raven’s Ring since we took ownership, the house’s guardian being a statue of a raven with a ring in his beak. This new “gift from the house” makes me feel even more connected, and I cherish it. We keep giving to her, and she keeps giving to us.

RavenLiquidStovePolishI’m posting more photos at Instagram. You can find me there.

Signed Drafters. A new outlet!

What do 2000 signed copies look like on my dining room table? Just like this! Minus the signature, of course. That’s what I’ll be doing over the course of this and next week. I mean, I could make a marathon of it, but why be a monster about it?

DrafterTipIns

These are slated for B&N, and each of the tip-in sheets will be signed by me before they go to the printer and are bound into special copies. If you can’t get to a signing, it’s a good way to pick one up. I was over at B&N this morning, and the link to reserve one of these is live.

Drafter Tour T’s

You’ve been seeing them in pictures at BEA, and one lucky winner got one at RT. Those of you who’ve been to one of my signings know what they’re for! And now there available. The Drafter Tour T’s!

Tim and I designed them, I came up with the Opti logo on the front, and Gallery Books put together the cities on the back. (grin)

They are easier than ever to purchase this year, straight from the printer. He’s a local company, trying to compete with Cafe Press and the like, but he’s managed to keep the price down, the smaller sizes starting at $15.00, rising to $21.00 for the larger sizes. Wearing one gets you into the family photo I try to take at every stop. This year, it might be in front of The Drafter Tour bus! How cool is that?

Shipping is not included, giving you options.

International is okay.

They are unisex, but there is a sizing chart on the front page if you click it into main view.

I’m probably forgetting something . . . I’ll let you know if I remember.

Also, I’m starting to get SASEs! Peri’s glass-technology phone won’t be going out with the shirts this year, but you can still send me a SASE to get one before a signing. (Yes, even if you’re out of the U.S.) I’ve got a great post here on how to send me one if you’ve never in the past. I swear, some of your names are starting to look familiar!

And since I’ve got you here, just a reminder that I’m also posting more casual, spontaneous content over at Instagram. I’ve only been there a couple of days, but I think it is going to work for me as a way to keep in touch because I do like my pictures!

A little love for Rachel

The mass market of THE WITCH WITH NO NAME made B&N’s top five for SF and Fantasy for May. Yay Rachel! And with the mass market out, the price has dropped for the e-book as well. Link below:

Summer is coming. I can feel it.

My yard is so green, I can hardly friggin’ stand it. I put in a good day’s work in my office yesterday before I went out into the green and gold and moved a bunch of rocks into a retaining wall. It’s one of my favorite things, believe it or not, and I’ve got stone walls all over my yard turning flat yard into interesting garden. One more afternoon, and it will be done and I can plant something.

Most of my day was with Peri, but I did spend a small chunk of it trying to figure out how I can use Instagram to my advantage.

After just a day, I can see how Instagram is a fabulous tool for someone who likes to share pictures, (me) and say a few things about it, (me again) but without an app (of which there are many and I don’t know which is best) I can’t share pictures from my work computer, just my phone. I can get around that by changing how I take and store photos, but it also doesn’t let you embed links in the caption, just hashtags, and hashtags get buried fast. Again, I can sort of get around that by sending viewers to my profile where there’s a link to my blog with the rest of the information, but it’s clearly not designed for what I’m trying to do: get information to you.

Sigh

Not enough time in my garden . . .

photo

If you are interested, here’s my Instagram account. I’ll be sharing more unique content there as time goes on because . . . frankly, my phone takes better pictures than my camera. https://instagram.com/kim_harrison_author/

The Drafter Freebies

Freebies! If you have ever been to one of my signings, you know how much fun we have with the Q&A, the bunny cam, and the freebies that are somehow both promotional and have something to do with the book.

This year was kind of tricky, and I wanted to find something that played upon the slightly futuristic lean the books were taking. The Hollows used magic to make the world stand out. This time, I wanted to use technology, and so after lots of starts and stops, I put together a mock up of Peri Reed’s glass-technology phone.

They are just too cool for words. I want a real one that works. Heck, I want Peri’s car, I want her apartment, I want to go shopping at Sim’s Mules. . . . But the phone was the only thing I could duplicate. (grin) PerisPhone And because I know that not everyone can get to a signing, I’m going to make them available again this year for a SASE.

If you’ve never sent me a SASE, I’ve got an example below. Just stick on a first class stamp, fold it up, and mail it to me at the address below:

Kim Harrison

THE DRAFTER freebie

PO Box 498

Dexter, MI, 48130

SASE Envelope and stamp may vary subject to availability, location, and personal preference. -grin- Just don’t use metallic ink. The post office can’t handle it all the time.

Also, I’m posting content over at Instagram now. Today there’s a picture of my “house jewerly”: https://instagram.com/kim_harrison_au...

BEA 2015 wrap-up

This morning I’m sitting in my office, looking out at my office, listening to the birds, planning a helacious day of action with Peri–a great mix of lethargic action . . .  Yep, that works, and such a contrast from BEA this weekend, where it was all action and no lethargy as I gave away ARCS, and a few Drafter Tour T shirts to the first 25 through the line. (I’ll have more on how to order later this month.) That’s me with the red lanyard in the center with my editor, Lauren, who some of you might have met as she ran some of the line before me and got your names on your sticky. Yep, the wig is gone, and I don’t miss it. If you’re in there and you want a high def picture, just click it to go to it.

BEAroadies2014

I do like getting to New York and living the reafirmation that I’m not alone at my desk trying to make something real from an idea in my head, a what-if that grows into something bigger by each sharing experience. But wow, it’s nice to get home.

Ahhh

Starting my weekend early

Not wanting to loose my Memorial Day weekend, I crammed four days work into two this week, meaning there’s nothing on my desk. My project bag is empty as of last night, and the puppies are at Grandma’s and Grandpa’s for the weekend. If you couldn’t guess, I’m headed out the door, aiming for New York and Books Expo America. Yay!

BEA is a closed conference, but on Saturday, they open the doors and let you in. I’ll be sticking around for a booth signing at Simon and Schuster, giving away ARCs of The Drafter, so if you are so inclined to wander among the imprints as you might wander among the shelves of your local bookstore, picking up swag and maybe a picture with one of your favorite authors or two, come on down to the Javits Center. I’ll be there Friday and Saturday.

Closed conference gallery give away/signing at 12:00 PM-12:30 PM at Autograph Area, Table 2 on Friday 29. Saturday is open to the public, and I’ve a give away/signing at the Simon & Schuster booth # 2620-262 More info at Event’s page

And yep, I finished my dragon/firelizard over the last couple of days, knitting a wing here, an arm bone there. She’s a Beauty!  (Yes, Beauty.) My best yet after a little bit of tinkering with her front arms, head, and back ridge, now knitted instead of crocheted. Still not happy with those back legs, though. . . .
