Should you create “irresistible” offers?
Check out the following lines. It’s from a sales page by people I like and respect, but there are some outdated, manipulative ideas:
You’ll learn secrets for sharing what you do that produce instant trust and desire in your ideal clients…
You’ll learn how to share your story so people lean in and get an “intuitive hit” that they need to work with you…
You’ll learn how to create your unique, aligned, and irresistible marketing statement!
There’s no need to go looking for who wrote t...

Make “selling” unnecessary.
Years ago, I received a simple piece of career advice:“Go where you’re respected.” — eco-entrepreneurPaul Hawken
These 4 words have defined my career since.
It applies to marketing too — aim to only sell to prospective clients who arealreadyeager to work with you. Then there’s no feeling of “selling.” There’s only connecting from the heart, helping them genuinely, and answering their questions.
Imagine never having to overcome objections… do multiple follow-ups… use compelling incentives to...

Your numbers are perfect right now.
Years ago, I launched a program I was very passionate about. I imagined 20, or 30, maybe even 50 people enrolling and participating.
Total number of sign-ups? One person. I had to cancel it, and refund the person. It was a painful experience, because my expectations didn’t match reality.
Looking back, I’m glad that the program didn’t run. The framework and tools that I teach today are far more efficacious than what I was offering back then. Good thing I didn’t expose more people to the earlier...

Your numbers are perfect right now.
Your business numbers are perfect right now.
Years ago, I launched a program I was very passionate about. I imagined 20, or 30, maybe even 50 people enrolling and participating. Exciting! Actual number of sign-ups? One person. I had to cancel it, and refund the person. It was a painful experience, because my expectations didn’t match the results. A difficult but essential life lesson: to let go of attachment to our plans when reality presents differently. Looking back, I’m actually glad t...

Why I love posting to Medium.com
Medium.com has better SEO (search engine optimization) than most websites, and certainly my own blog.
I tested these two situations for six months each:
(1) Posting my writing to my website blog first, making sure it was indexed, thenimporting into Mediuma few days later.
(2) Posting on Mediumfirst, then copying to my own blog a week later.
The second method— posting to Medium first —always wins SEO for the keywords in the article. My content...

Charm Pricing -- why I don’t recommend it

I’ve noticed that many businesses -- maybe yours -- use a pricing tactic that is manipulative, and oftentimes they don’t even know it.
Examples:
$14.95 instead of $15
$47 instead of $50
$999 instead of $1,000
Do you realize what’s going on here? The tactic is called “charm pricing” or “psychological pricing” and you probably encounter it every time you go shopping.
Few consumers realize what’s going on:It makes you think a price is smaller. For example, $947 seems...

A Conscious Life Requires Reflection Time
On a daily basis, I go from task to task, event to event, responding to the world’s demands, reacting to urgencies, emails, and deadlines. I don’t have any “thinking time”… to reflect, to reconnect to my deeper purpose & motivation.
If that describes you, then this post is for you... Schedule Self-Care First
When I schedule my calendar, self-care comes first.
Rest, renewal, reflection:
Every 1.5 - 2hours of my working...
