How to Really Prevent Zoombombing
Last week I was zoombombed: about 15 minutes into my public zoom meeting, a coordinated group of trolls suddenly entered and screen-shared gross pornographic images, and wrote chats that were very hateful and racist. Some of them even re-named themselves before writing their hateful chats… impersonating the innocent participants!
I couldn’t remove the trolls fast enough — there were too many of them.

After trying to figure out who were the trolls (since they had ...

Why I don’t aspire to be your guru
I write often about the importance of building our ideal audience. To create a community of people who are our true fans, who love our work and presence.
However, that doesn’t mean we should aspire to be their guru…
Here’s what I see as the difference between having a true-fan audience, and being a guru:In some ancient traditions, a guru is a revered spiritual guide. Some gurus command near-total devotion of their students. I respect the freedom to practice religion however one wishes.
In building...

First Steps to Starting a Solopreneur Service-Based Business
When starting a business, many people think that one of the first tasks is to build a website.
The more experienced I get in helping new businesses get traction, the more my perspective on this has shifted — I now believe that a website is useless for most new businesses… possibly even harmful.
If you are working to become a coach, consultant, mentor, healer, or other type of solopreneur service-based business, I recommend that you don’t build a website yet...(The exception is for business/market...

Action Plan to Grow An Authentic Solopreneur Business

But what about actual actions and ongoing habits?
This post provides 4 questions to guide you. Let’s start with the most important. It’s not “what’s your niche?” or “have you set up your email list?”
When advising a new client who is starting their solopreneur service business, I don’t recommend creating a website right away, nor clarifying a niche yet.
I recommend that y...

Examples of Mini-Courses
One of the best products you can create — especially in these times — is online courses. Millions of people love taking classes online.
And if you love to learn (which you do since you’re reading this post!) then you, too, have something to teach. You have the potential to create and launch your own online courses.
I facilitate a support group for creating/launching online courses, and many of the members are just launching their first course.
Check out the following examples of simple mini-cours...

There are 2 Ways to Manage Time
Deadline Method — Work by project deadlines: Meet the closest deadlines. Work all night if you have to, or postpone/cancel other commitments or projects as needed to meet the most urgent and important deadlines.
Scheduling Method — Schedule recurring chunks of time to work on various projects. Stick to those time slots. The projects simply get done whenever they get done. Or, if there’s a due date for something, you’ll learn to work faster within those time blocks.

Calmly Productive

Think of a master in martial arts … they aren’t fretting, tense, worried, or stressed out. They have a relaxed focus, a calm strength, a powerful composure.
Their face might appear emotionless, yet their body expresses a wide range of motion, able to accomplish a great deal with both precision and flexibility.
Inside, they are experiencing clarity, confidence, and a calm joy.

3 Motivational Ideas to Get Consistent with Content
See if you can relate:
“When I am delivering a webinar, workshop or talking with clients, I show up with warmth, presence and the intelligence, even wisdom, that the situation requires… but when I am creating new content on my own — blog posts, videos, or even a course — it’s as if I don’t know anything anymore. What shall I do next? What can I say? Will they like it? …and other doubts appear.”
An audience member sent this question to me, but I bet many of you can relate to this.
I too have had t...
