Transforming the desperation energy in your marketing into authentic confidence

What’s more important than trying to get more clients?

Getting great clients who love your workMaintaining your sense of integrity
…yet neither are accomplished when you use marketing strategies that feel “off” to you.

Although some people will buy when we resort to hype and manipulation, it has consequences: Our integrity is put into doubt — in our buyer’s mind, and in our own.The best clients will be pushed away.

This is marketing from desperation energy.

Unfortunately, even some “successful” busi...

Rest before you need to

I’ve been able to accomplish a lot in my business because I create even when I don’t feel like it — I work on a regular rhythm. (And I honestly don’t feel like it most of the time.)

Similarly, I’ve learned to rest myself before I’m tired… to rest on a regular rhythm, whether or not I feel like it.

Several times I’ve nearly burned out. (Maybe I did and eventually recovered.) Painful experiences — emotional lows, lack of motivation, lack of hope, physical exhaustion — something I hope to help oth...

Get unstuck by asking smaller questions

Have you ever felt stuck trying to answer big questions such as…“What is my niche?”“Who is my ideal client?”“What’s my marketing message?”“What’s my Calling in life?!”
These questions carry a finality that can overwhelm us… it’s like once you answer it, you lose your flexibility.

“The decision would affect so many little things!”

“Therefore I can’t move forward until I’ve figured it all out!”It’s no wonder that many of us procrastinate on growing our business. These big questions can keep us stuck ...

Authentic Creativity & Making Money

An audience member wrote the following to me, and maybe some of you can relate…

“I long for the ability to create without any thoughts of money…to create because I love it… to take real time off when I need it… to try new things and build in more hobby time into my life.

Everything I create is because I love it, but I tend to always have that background question: ‘Will it make me money?’

I want to get to a place where I feel I can try things and fail and be totally fine with it…”There are 2 thing...

Do Right  ➜ Feel Good (not the other way around)

Oftentimes, we let relatively minor circumstances, like being a little tired or feeling like watching videos, get in the way of keeping our commitments to ourselves, i.e. doing the right thing.

This is how people become victims of life: doing the right things only when we feel good or when conditions are perfect…Feel Good ➜ Do Right

To act purposefully, to live more into our potential, we must flip the above equation, and understand that if we act rightly, we end up feeling good.

This is about exer...

Go ahead — filter my emails into your Promotions tab…

When you sign up for an email newsletter, do they try to have you put their emails into your Primary inbox folder… rather than the Promotions or Newsletter folder that it would usually go into?

I’ve been seeing that increasingly among marketers, and I don’t like it.It’s simply not a good way for anyone to manage their inbox. We should have email newsletters go directly into a separate folder that we look at every now and then… not co-mingled with personal emails from friends, clients, or other i...

What to do if your content isn't turning into income...

If you’ve been consistent with publishing content, yet your audience isn’t buying from you, this post is for you…

A reader wrote to me:

“George, I share  your philosophy on the creation of valuable free content . I’ve been blogging daily, as well as creating videos. I would do this work regardless, and want to develop trust with my audience. However, sales have been slow. In your experience, what is the tipping point when your free content begins to translate into revenue?”First of all, I applaud...

Examples of Mini-Courses (July)

One of the best products to create — especially in these times — is online courses. (You’ll notice that many of the successful solopreneurs sell online courses!)

If you love to learn, then you have something to teach.

I facilitate a support group for creating/launching online courses, and many of the members are launching their first courses.

Check out the following examples. These are being launched by my members right now. May these inspire you to create your own!Mini-Courses for July 2020

To get more sales, market to the "lizard brain"...?

A few years ago, I stopped marketing to the reptilian brain.

My conscience could no longer tolerate it…

By “lizard brain” I mean the parts within people that are governed by fear, greed, and impatience.

See the image below that breaks down a real example… Example of Lizard-Brain Marketing
Yes, my sales cycle is a bit longer now. When people find my website randomly, they’re no longer immediately triggered or incentivized to opt-in or to buy from me. It takes them more time to get to know my values, my expertise, and my way of doin...

Should You “Charge What You’re Worth”?

Have you heard that you should “claim / stand up for your value” ?

Let’s look more deeply at this…

How much is your value?

How much are you worth?

$25/hour? $150/hour? $500/hour? $10,000/hour?

If other people charge more, are they worth more? Words matter: they shape how we see ourselves and others. Connecting our fees to our “worth” is an unhealthy comparison.

Are you worth less than someone who charges more?

Truth: You are worth infinity. You are a precious human being whose odds of being born are 1 ...
