Happy New Years... And other Stuff

It's 2018 peoples! Happy New years! Yes I know this is a little late but I will beg some pardon here, I was out in the middle of the bush with no signal enjoying some me time with my #AuthorBestie Toni Cox, her family and my family. It was a great retreat but I am ready to be back in the hustle and bustle of the big city and to dive right back into writing. Okay, I dove right back in yesterday and pumped out over 13k words for Kallista. This beauty is coming out soon! And I have a feeling it's going to be thoroughly enjoyed (I can dream can't I?)With a New Year there comes all the old hat of resolutions and promises and the like but generally the only thing I like new in the year is BOOKS! And maaaannnnnn there are some sweet sexy little darlings coming out this year! Some authors that you should definitely keep an eye out for is Ashleigh Giannoccaro; Yolanda Olson, Toni Cox, K Webster and Sarah Key! If you have kids there are a bunch of great kiddies authors releasing this year as well including: Jann Weeratunga; Cora Groenewald, Robbie Cheadle, Soraya Hendricks and Subrendi Naidoo! As for me? Well there is a LOT happening in my 2018! I have at least four books I want to release before Mid Year including Kallista; The Culling; The Watched and Watcher. I am super excited for these and can't wait to get them out to you. Don't forget that I have Movie Monday's starting again! You can join my facebook group Sian's Little Nightmares and every Monday at 12:00 est (Or 19:00 in South Africa) I am online and ready for your questions and sharing what's happening in the writing world, some tips and advice and just general talk :) I also will be dropping occasional giveaways in Movie Mondays so try not to miss them if you like books and gift cards! The books won't necessary be written by me :) Well that's all for now! Tomorrow is the first day of Day Jobness and I can't wait to get back! I miss that office and those faces and miss being able to have a nice routine :) Provided I don't have to work late tomorrow night will be my first Movie Monday but keep an eye on the group for more details.Don't forget to lock the door.Sian B. Hold on! Hold on! November's almost over?

There is a lot to be said about the year passing by quickly, because it has passed by quickly. It is the 21st of November which means there is nine days left of November and 40 days left of the year. Where did the time go? And what a busy year it has been for me! I published not one but TWO books this year in my first year as an Indie Author! It was so excited! It was so nerve wrecking. It was so much hard work. But I feel so accomplished right now! I wanted to publish just one book, just one, before December and here I am sitting, getting ready to work on Kallista, my third book. Unfortunately I doubt I would have it ready before December - that would be pushing it - but I still feel like HEY! This is something to be seriously proud of.Aside from working diligently on Kallista, I have had a rather busy week. I have been designing Logos, promotional material, working on some other top secret stuff and socializing. I don't think people believe authors do socialize. Look, I generally don't - I won't lie - but that's because I REALLY like napping, but this was a weekend of socializing and I did it in style. I had to dress up as a superhero and it rocked! So, just to keep you up to date - Below is the teaser for the First Chapter of Kallista! I'll be posting my Blog EVER Tuesday so you will receive a teaser EVERY Tuesday! DO NOT MISS THE BLOG FANS! If you want to chat to me drop me a line on my contact page or stalk me on social media! Remember - Always lock the door.

Getting to know me, getting to know all about me......

Okay maybe I won't spill everything in my first blog post but let's be fair, I'm always open to answer any questions anyone has about me. If you've stumbled across this site by chance or because you follow me on Facebook and because you read my work then welcome! If you stumbled across this site because you're a friend or family member... Please don't scroll any further! I might say something you can use to tease me with later! So me! I am me! I am Sian B. Claven - writer, blogger and all around dreamer. I have spent the better part of my life with my head in the clouds or my nose in a book, and I quite like it that way. Well I did, until I decided that I might have a story or two to tell as well. Okay I have like six so far, two published, and four I'm working on, but hey, share share share I say.I always wanted to be a fantasy writer. I love fantasy more than anything in the world. Fantasy has saved my life. So naturally when I discovered that I might be okay at this writing thing, fantasy is what I wanted to create. Worlds that no one had dreamed of, people beyond your wildest imagination and an adventure that we would take us six books and maybe a few stand alones to explain...Imagine my surprise then when on completing my first book I realised I had accidentally written a paranormal thriller / horror. Maybe not the darkest of horror, more like a grey blue horror but a spooky, eerie story nonetheless. Well where did that come from? And who gave my characters permission to do that?Reading through that book I have to admit, I'm a little impressed with myself. Who knew that years of psychological torture by my siblings would result in me being able to conjure up things that go bump in the night? Okay okay, it wasn't EXACTLY psychological torture. They just forced me to watch REALLY scary horror movies when I was REALLY little.I had to kind of sit back and take stock. Fantasy was my game, it was my life, but I realise it wasn't always. Growing up with my sister, you had to love reading, because that's all she ever did, and there was no greater feeling the laying on the bed next to her reading a book while she read. Of course, having the sister I had, the selection of books were mainly Stephen King and Dean Koontz among some other scary writers. Thinking about it now, I wasn't ALWAYS a fantasy kind of girl, in fact I consumed more horror than fantasy in my life. I always leaned towards the twists and turns that made your heart beat out of your chest and your blood run cold.Sure when I got older, I changed my favourite genre to Fantasy because I discovered more about myself. But having such a strong horror foundation in those formative years has really shaped me as a writer. And I am very glad it did.So this is just a little snippet about me. In-between blogs I'll be posting random ramblings like this one about how I think I got to be the writer I am. Thanks for choosing to read this and remember - always lock the door!
