Monthly Reading Roundup
A new month and it’s time for to recap my reading progress aka my status in the 2019 Goodreads Reading Challenge.
This is where I am currently.
If you read last month’s post, I was a bit ahead. But I did slip up a bit this month.
This is what I finished this month:
The first book was on parenting- I love reading about great techniques that work!
The other book that I completed was on career success :

What am I reading this month?[image error]
I hope to progress a little better this month and get back to staying ahead of my reading goals like last month! Fingers crossed.
But of course, I am happy that I managed to stay on track despite a busier schedule than last month (enrolled in a programming course). Also, considering that we are close to the half way mark in 2019; I am happy to observe that I am on target and not lagging behind.
While I shall do a comparison of the 2019 participants in July, here are what the overall stats look like for the reading community on Goodreads.

So, where are you on your goals? Are you one of those 3884 participants who have already met their goal? If so, share your favorite techniques in the comments below. If like me, you’re just plodding along, share your chief distractions and reading tips in the comments below.
Until next week, Happy Reading!

Bollywood Inspired Food
This is a photo post on a recent restaurant visit. We went to an Indian place that had great reviews as their vegetarian menu seemed quite appetizing.
The place was interesting with a menu that was inspired by Indian movies and stars. The walls are adorned with sketches of south Indian movie actors and the dishes are named after movies, actresses and actors.
But it was the dishes and the visually appealing serving that caught our eye.
Our two appetizers and the first main course to arrive themselves were delicious to look and to devour.

From top to bottom, in order were
fried Indian papad and pita chips with mint-chilli and tamarind-date dips,
cauliflower pieces fried in chickpea flour and seasoned in coriander and chilli sauce,
Vegetable kotthu paratha which (a distilled down explanation) consists of flour, a medley of vegetable and seasoning.
The other main courses we ordered were all right but nothing to write home about. Of course, the place is famous more for its non- vegetarian dishes, so we knew what we were getting into.
But overall with the melodious music in the background, the chirpy and happy ambience of the place we enjoyed a lovely evening.
What do you look for while eating out? Convenience, taste, novelty, ambience, experience or all of the above. Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Aladdin Movie and Jasmine LEGO Set
Last weekend, the kiddo watched the movie Aladdin with her adoring grandparents and doting aunt and uncle. So, naturally the event was not complete without a special gift to commemorate the event- Jasmine LEGO set.
Now I love LEGO sets it is a big part of my life. I can often be seen playing with my angel and her friends for hours at end. So, it was to be expected that I loved this set as well. Here are some of the things we did with this set.
This was the actual set that arrived. While it looks easy, getting the kiddo to search and assemble it all by herself was no mean feat. For me or the little darling.

About Me 2018
Howdy Everyone! Welcome to the new look of this blog!
With changing seasons and freshness, I figured tidying up this blog was due. So, I’ve changes the layout a bit, condensed the Categories to be broader but more precise. The content of course still is the same- books, travel, life experiences and more.
Accordingly, my About Me page changed a bit as well. But, like the previous years, am including here what I had last year for those who want to follow or recap my writing journey.
This is my space to write about everyday adventures, travels and opinions on a host of everyday topics! This blog serves as a record of my musings and growth as I try to tackle life as a curious thirty year old, mom and published writer!
As a helpful heads-up, dominant on this blog are:
Lists : since I love lists of all kinds! My favorite one on books and reading can be found here . Book reviews : Every year, I add my Reading Goals on GoodReads, and add my own take-aways on this blog under ‘Book Reviews’ category. It’s a great way of recording the insights one finds useful. Example here . Crafts and activities : As a SAHM, I am always trying to engage and educate my little one in fun ways. I try to share with others for inspiration and help. My last big creative project with T (our preschooler) was making a Peppa family dollhouse with empty cereal boxes and already owned Lego, Shopkins and Playdoh. Travel : I like going out and visiting places. Travel with our daughter means exploring the world with a child like curiosity. Read about them under Travel category like this one . Philosophical ramblings : Read tagline again! My favorite one last year was on reasons to visit Museums .
Blogging has been a great channel for me to gain new perspectives, find inspiration, learn many lessons, and capture my thoughts. (and yes, inflict my many opinions too!)
What do you think of this writing? Do you like the cleaner look and feel of this blog? Let me know in the comments below.

Monthly Reading Roundup: April
This month I am excited to share my progress on the 2019 Goodreads Reading Challenge. I have somehow managed to stay on track with my reading all these months; but this month I actually am ahead of target.
I will admit that the reason for my improvement because of two primary reasons:
– I had a head start on a few books that I finished this month.
– I read an illustrated book. The genres do matter when it comes to numbers.
Here’s a short rundown of books I finished:
Someday is not a Day of the Week by Sam Horn
The Gift of Failure by Jessica Lahey
Sarah Scribbles- Adulthood is a Myth by Sarah Andersen
What am I reading this month?
To Love Honor and Vacuum
How to be Better At Almost Anything
As evident from what I am reading, I still need to add a book to stay on my winning sprint.
I do have some recommendations but am always looking for more.
So share your great reads , especially in the genres of Career Development, Parenting, Leadership and Humor.

Book Review- Sarah Scribbles
As part of my 2019 Goodreads Challenge, I have been trying to read newer books, authors and genres. So, I was excited when I stumbled upon the illustrations by Sarah Andersen.

Titled ‘Adulthood is a Myth’ , the book is part of the Sarah Scribbles series.
The actual book can be found here.
As soon as I saw the strip below, I was hooked.

And of course, the dressing room dilemma and tribulations of trying on new clothes was so hilarious yet on point.
And I simply loved the perils of plunging into purses…

I rated it 5stars because the illustrations are accurate and simply wonderful.
For those who are uninitiated with this work, do read the comments on the book’s Goodreads page here. They are as amazing as the book itself.
If you have other illustrated recommendations, please share in the comments below.
