The only thing that gives me any comfort at this points are my dreams in which the South is nuked or destroyed in a massive fire. Not real but I hold onto that warmth after I wake up for as long as I can.

Just a quick fuck you to all the condescending dipshits who told me I should read “Hillbilly Elegy” a few years back because of “where I’m from.” I browsed that book enough to know that that guy was evil and history has proven to be my judge.
Want to know “what’s in the mind of rural voters”? Well, they are pissed for the same reason the rest of us are: no money, no chance for advancement or upward mobility, no chance to buy a house or property. The only difference between us and them is they are so remote and way less educated so it is much easier for the ruling class to make them afraid of or hate something.
That’s it. No more need to buy 29 dollar hardcovers or watch stupid CNN segments set in shitty hick diners to learn about the thinking of backwoods voters. I have explained it. You’re fucking welcome.

I grew up in the South and as near as I can tell the whole point of that hateful place was to “keep people in their place.” The whole fabric of the place worked to try and kill anything unique or special about anyone. Keep the status quo. The status quo in question being that white men of a certain economic class were always comfortable and never challenged. If others were in poverty, or pain, or having to deny who they actually were, well, that was their burden to work out. The South is a poison and its toxicity is what has sickened and darkened this country since 2000. No progress and no freedom. Only anger and hate. The only joys I take out of getting older is the lack of investment in others’ opinions, what odd bits of wisdom it affords me , and getting to watch these Boomer Fascist finally starting to die. I am tired and I hate this country. I can only imagine how women feel.
