Sara writes books about love and life, and all of their messy and beautiful imperfections. Born and raised in Hawaii, she studied journalism and later earned graduate degrees in psychology and Chinese medicine. She is the USA Today bestselling author of The Lieutenant's Nurse and Island of Sweet Pies and Soldiers, with several more in the works. She blames Hawaii for her addiction to writing, and sees no end to its untapped stories. Sara lives on the Big Island with her boyfriend and a houseful of bossy animals.

I don't get writers block per se, but I do have some days were things come very slowly and seem awful. I just keep writing!(less)

Also, so many people from the mainland did not understand the local culture and how embedded the Japanese were here. Hope that answers your question!(less)

Remember, writing a novel is a long-term project, one that will take months or years to complete and you need to be fully invested. For me, the idea has usually been germinating for some time–in some cases a whole lifetime–and I’ve been daydr Read more of this blog post »
