Patsy Hand, a native Oregonian and Eastern Oregon ranch owner, lives and works in Eugene as a writer and abstract artist. Although set primarily in Italy, her recently released novel, Lost Dogs of Rome, features Oregon settings in Portland, Baker City, and more. Patsy's next book, Where Have All the Horses Gone, is scheduled for release in 2019.

Patsy credits the various accomplished men and women who visited her ranch over the years for giving her an independent spirit bent on exploring a curious world. As an animal activist, political idealist, and a seeker of knowledge, Patsy travels internationally to glean ideas for her writing and her art.

I realized I had begun to demand perfection and there is no such thing in writing. Days of just noodling can produce the best lines. I guess my truth is trying to make a difference by telling a story. Life really is about story anyway, isn't it? We all carry them in our heads. I just go the next step and write them down.(less)
