Six on Saturday – 12/3/22 Autumn Dreaming

Well we have finally reached autumn, I do like summer, but the cooler months are kinder to my garden and the flowers in there. As soon as the temperatures decrease the evaporation rate goes down and the plants can finally benefit from the water I am giving them, rather than just survive with it. The colour starts to return en-mass in the autumn months, and I breathe a sigh of relief that the plants have survived the hot dry summer. I dare say they do too! The fairies can get out of survival mode!

I have been having some fun with some new window baskets for the house entrance deck (in country houses the back is the front, so while my front door and entrance is grander, the back entrance has to be dolled up too, as guests seldom visit our front door!) I found the cute fairy decorations in my local post office and had to buy them being a fairy communicator! I have been admiring the Mosaic of peeling bark pattern on my SA Gum trees on our driveway. The bark on these trees is so smooth, they are great trees to hug and have a calm serene feeling about them. Plus I have a little eucalyptus forest on my farm and the smell of the trees en-mass, when walking there has a lovely calming fragrance of eucalyptus oil. Now is the time of year when my pizzas are fully using ingredients from my vegetable garden – This Pizza has 8 ingredients from my garden today: tomatoes, capsicum, sweetcorn, zucchini, basil, chives, oregano and thyme It is a little too hot for campanulas here but instead we get to enjoy the pretty bell shaped fairy flowers of these Eremophilas or emu bushes, this one is called “Pink Pantha” and has been surprisingly been flowering all year long. It turns into a dense bush 2 metres tall and wide. Another favourite in my Mediterranean climate garden is this Centaurea cineraria or Dusty Miller it mainly flowers in late spring but if watered has sporadic flowers throughout the year. I love the spiritual mauve colour mixed with the dusty silver leaves! It takes easily by slips put straight in the ground in winter, and I use this plant liberally in my country garden. Yay, the pelargoniums are starting to flower properly (and not be sunburnt wonders!) now the weather has cooled a little. I have quite a collection of pelargoniums in my garden, but they will only grow in areas protected by the shade of trees or the house, because they would not like the winter frosts of the more exposed areas of my garden.

I hope you enjoyed the early autumn stroll through my garden!

Succulent Drives Car!

Succulent Drives Car! I spied this Succulent that had wound it’s flower stalk around the steering wheel of this car pot, steadiying himself in the pot and looking as though he is driving the car! I spoke to the plant and he said “Of course it was deliberate! We wanted to see you laugh! ” 👍🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️💞

Six on Saturday 26/2/22 – A Stroll Around My Vegetable Garden

I enjoy my quiet still time in the summer evenings watering and cheering on the latest vegetable stars in my vegetable garden this year. They have grown quite fast in the heat of our summer sun, here in South Australia. Some varieties are the first time I have grow that exact one like the Golden Nugget variety of pumpkin. All organically grown.

All the plants I talk to from time, to time to see how they are going and to see what is new with them. The fairies always furnish me with an answer to my questions.

My favourite varieties this year are the cute miniature pumpkin varieties I have grown, the generous and profuse watermelons and the oxheart variety of tomatoes that are so sweet this year.

As pretty as any flower plant, the flowers on these zucchinis shine in the sun. The fabulous capsicums The sweetcorn is always a treat, not quite as spectacular as other years, but we have lots of them! The Eucalyptus Platypus (love that name!) tree fell over in a big windstorm a few months ago. I am keeping it there as a windbreak until the other trees grow. These lovely watermelons are the best I have even grown and seem to grow overnight! I enjoy mounding my potatoes as the free range bantams, enjoy undoing the mounds, looking for juicy insects. Because I planted them late, I chose miniature pumpkin varieties the year, as they are quicker to mature. This is a patch of Golden Nugget Pumpkins growing under a lemon tree.

I hope you enjoyed my Six on Saturday collection, my contribution to this meme.

The Whole Universe Conspires to Look After You, You Just Need to Learn it’s Language

You are being loved and cared for by God/the Universe every step of the way. It responds and loves to give to you everything you focus on and think about at length. It is so generous it will even bring to you things that you imagine. When you understand how you communicate with it and how it communicates with you by signs and coincidences, you start to dance with the universe with love and with joy. <3*¨`*•✿¸.• •✿

Six on Saturday – Some of My Favourite Irises

Here are six of my favourite bearded irises that have flowered in my garden this year. Bearded Irises are particularly hardy in our South Australian Mediterranean climate and flower reliably, with little fuss but lots of fanfare!

Eagle’s Flight a fabulous purple concoction, growing with some Salvia grahamii, salvias. Excuse Me Darling – Fabulous name and think this might just be my favourite of all the bearded irises I grow. Lemon Custard – This was a new delight that flowered in my garden this year, and it seemed like it brought the sun with it! Foolish Dreamer – Purple and Yellow combination, what’s not to love? Sweet Musette – A fabulous and famous iris and justifiably so, such a nice pink. Who’s Your Daddy! – I must confess I like these irises just as much for their apt and humorous names as I do for their exquisite beauty and poise!

I hope you enjoyed my Six on Saturday collection, my first contribution to this meme ever!

Great First Review for my new Book ‘Conversations With My Vegetable Garden’

Great First Review for my new book ‘Conversations With My Vegetable Garden’ by the lovely Jan Mawdesley from Blue Wolf Reviews –

For those of us who love our gardens chatting to your plants is not all that unusual, but it took Sarah Rajkotwala spending the time to document many of her conversations with her garden, sharing the wisdom that is to be discovered if only we choose to listen, to bring this skill to our attention.

Her third book Conversations with my Vegetable Garden is based on the world that is to be discovered in her rather large vegetable garden on her property in rural South Australia. Having initially begun gardening in the traditional manner she soon discovered that when areas where left alone they developed some very surprising results, all to the positive.

As she had spent time talking with and documenting other sections of her garden it seemed logical to once again tune into what the garden fairies were trying to impart. Once again her chief fairies’ adviser Gentica came to assist and share her eternal wisdom.

Pages are filled with information offered as to the best way to get the fullest benefit out of your planting, which vegetables are best grown for their energetic qualities, some serious information as to the effect of people on the planet and how change can be encouraged for long term benefit.

The information shared via the ‘vegie patch’ is very practical and makes complete sense, but it is reassuring to know. Along with the innate spiritual wisdom that is offered, are also some very good tips on growing vegetables, what to allow to go to seed and what to encourage for best results in your gardening.

Sarah talks about her garden as the month’s flow throughout the year, her success and failures and some of the very interesting results she has achieved by listening to and working with her fairies’ advisers, which for any gardener will prove to be irresistibly well worth trying in their own garden.

The final section is dedicated to a list of common garden vegetables, their key features, energetic qualities, companion plants/planting and nutritional qualities, along with what particular plant they dislike being grown near.

Enjoy learning much from Conversations with my Vegetable Garden and then reap the rewards with vegetables that are happy, healthy and a real pleasure to enjoy.

Sunset and Ascension

We all went out and enjoyed the subdued and comforting hues of last night’s sunset. 🌄 Ex-tropical cyclone clouds make great sunsets, and unusual humidity for our usual dry South Australian summer. Although these days with the weather as we as a planet ascend spiritually, we need to expect the unexpected as far as the weather goes. As we ascend to a higher level of love, we take the planet with us.

Expect storms that bring more water with it, as water is a sacred cleansing element and will pave the way for more love to be possible for all, clearing off the energy of hatred, wars and toil. Imagine areas with extreme weather and storms as calm and safe.
