Sensational Salvias – Six on Saturday 23/4/22
I have quite few salvia varieties in my South Australian garden. They seem to suit out temperate climate and still survive after drought conditions. Here are some I have in my garden at the moment and are real toughies! They are surprising beautiful, and some you really need to get up close to fully appreciate their delicate looking lipped blooms. The varieties I have in my garden mostly come originally from countries such as South Africa and Mexico with a similar Mediterranean climate to mine. As You can see they come in every colour under the rainbow.
Salvia Mexicanus fairy what is the energy of salvias?
“Salvias have the energetic signature of survival in tough times, they have strength and resilience that enables them to survive both heat and flood conditions. They are the real survivors of the flower world.”

Salvia Bee Happy
Salvia chamaedryoides hard to spell but easy to grow and supremely drought hardy!
Appropriately named Salvia ‘Hot Lips with funny lipstick markings on the blooms.
The statuesque Salvia Canariensis – This beauty is about 1.5 metres tall and can survive in my garden on no additional water!
Salvia ‘Christine Yeo’ is a very nice shade of purple and is another one that can survive on no water!

Reliable Autumn Bloomers – Six on Saturday
As autumn moves steadily on the rains still have not set in, so I am watering daily the plants that require it. It is nice to spend time out in the mornings now as they are starting to cool and I can spend all day out on the garden in the now milder weather. I am making as many cuttings as I can of my favourite plants. A lot of my garden is plants that I have either talking cuttings of or grown by division. Filling in the gaps with the reliable plants that suit out climate with little fuss.
I am editing and writing my new book about wild gardening with the fairies. So it is nice to go outside every now and then and commune with the plants I am communicating with.

The Little Deck Window Baskets continue to charm, and are starting to fill out nicely.
Arising up magically out of the ground come autumn, the Blood Lillies always create a spectacle.
Tall flowering cosmos provides much needed autumn height and colour. Their happy flowers emit the energy of joy, says their fairy, when I asked it.
More petunias and lobelias, what’s not to enjoy?
Salvia ‘Waverley’ doing it’s thing.
The Velvety purple blooms of Salvia leucantha, Mexcian sage. Drought hardy and very tough in our Meditteranean climate. A lovely contrast with its lovely grey leaves.
