Fairy Tip 🧚‍♂️ – Wet Down Your Whole Garden With A Hose In The Evening, Turning Every Plant Into An Insect Birdbath. 🐝🦋

The fairies gave me this great tip. If there are too many insects drowning in your birdbaths on a hot day, wet down the whole garden with a hose in the evening, turning every plant into an insect-birdbath Also rocks in the birdbaths help.

Six On Saturday – Something To Trumpet About! 14🌸12🌸24 🎅

After the flower frenzy that is spring in my garden the garden settles into a comfortable phase of spring recovery! The quantity of flowers goes down significantly, particularly in a dry year.

However, in December I can always rely in my potted lilies to bring a splash of colour, fragrance and joy to my garden. First is the Asiatic lilies, that bring their spectacular coloured blooms. This week is the turn of the trumpet Lilies, a big favourite of mine! They are magnificently fragrant with their heady Heavenly scent pervading the side of the house where they are situated. Each lily a little more fragrant and exciting than the last. The native bees sleep inside their blooms to drink in their nectar.

Most of mine are OT or Oriental Trumpet Lilies that are tough like the Trumpet Lilies but have the added colour amd charm of the Orientals. The have great heat tolerance and seem to thrive in the pots. The don’t need staking and are impervious to the wind! Unlike my blue Gladioli that bent in two again this year! Oh the joy!

The lovely fragrant and long flowering Trumphinator which I obtained from a shop here called Cheap As Chips a few years ago! It flowerd for 8 weeks last year!This beauty is called Alpha Star is supremely fragrant and has doubled in size since last year and is becoming a real favourite! This I obtained from a specialist lily supplier and has the fragrance of Cinnamon and Spice. Just right for Christmas! This one called Silk Road was short last year but has reached its full 1.8 metres this year, much to my delight!Pretty Pink Asiatic lily amongst the picotee petunias that I like to grow for Christmas! This was a double packet of Lilium longiflorum that I obtained from a local garden centre but it had one mistaken pink lily in there! I don’t mind, two for the price of one! Showing the full height that my Silk Road lily has reached this year! Towering over the other trumpet Lilies.
