Five "beta" readers wanted for new book!

UPDATE:  I have my 5 beta readers!  That was quick–thanks, everyone!

Dear Readers:

I have an unpublished romantic comedy manuscript called STOP THE WEDDING! I wrote way back in 1998 that I'm preparing to re-release as an ebook sometime after the first of the year.  It's about 55,000 words–about the size of my Blaze novels.  The story is about a man and a woman who team together to stop their parents from getting married, but wind up falling in love themselves!  I'm looking for 5 "beta" readers who would read the manuscript and give me their feedback before it's published for the rest of the world.  So if you have a good eye, the time and the inclination to read the manuscript in the next four weeks, are familiar with my brand of humor, and you'd like to be a "beta" reader for STOP THE WEDDING!, please send an introduction paragraph to me at stephanie@stephaniebond.com.   Thank you!

P.S. This is the cover my artist Andy Brown at clicktwicedesign came up with–isn't it fantastic?

On sale TODAY: Book 3 in the SOUTHERN ROADS trilogy!

TODAY is the official release date for the third book in my SOUTHERN ROADS trilogy, Baby, Don't Go! In book 3, eldest brother Marcus Armstrong is focused on meeting the grant deadline for retaining ownership of the resurrected town of Sweetness for the townspeople…the last thing he needs is a bothersome woman in the form of a waitress in the town diner whose firebug tendencies tax the patience of the Fire Chief–Marcus! But the waitress isn't exactly who she seems…

I hope you enjoy this third installment of the series!

A special book release for Veterans Day…and MY hero.

On sale TODAY, Friday November 11, (Veterans Day!) is the SEAL of My Dreams anthology.  This book is a collaborative effort spearheaded by my writing friends Christie Ridgway and Alison Kent as a tribute to the heroism shown by the members of the SEAL 6 team in their covert mission earlier this year to take down Osama bin Laden. The idea was to donate proceeds to a charitable cause. The picture on the front of the book of a real Navy SEAL preparing for a mission appeared in a national newspaper, and interest spread like wildfire–I'm sure you can see why! Christie quickly secured the rights to the photo for our project, and a group of authors were assembled to contribute short stories, all featuring a Navy SEAL as a main character. The project started with a Tweet in May, and six months later the book is on sale!

My short story "Baby, I'm Back" is set in the town of Sweetness, Georgia, the setting for my SOUTHERN ROADS romance trilogy. It seemed like the perfect setting because the heroes in my trilogy are all military men who return to civilian life to resurrect their hometown in the Georgia mountains that was destroyed a decade ago by a tornado. Barry Ballantine, the hero in "Baby, I'm Back," was only fifteen when the tornado struck. He was trapped with many others in a basement, and when he was pulled to safety by two Army men who were home on leave, he decided on the spot to make the military his life. He loves the Navy, and he loves being a SEAL; but war is unpredictable and he now finds himself Stateside recovering from an injury. He returns to Sweetness, the only home he's ever known, to make good on a promise to a friend, and instead meets a young woman who will challenge him to get on with his life…but doing so will ultimately mean leaving her. I hope readers will find "Baby, I'm Back" to be a heartwarming story of rebirth.

Other authors contributing to the SEAL of My Dreams anthology include Jami Alden, Kylie Brant, Helen Brenna, HelenKay Dimon, Cindy Gerard, Tara Janzen, Leslie Kelly, Elle Kennedy, Alison Kent, Jo Leigh, Gennita Low, Marliss Melton, Christie Ridgway, Barbara Samuel, Roxanne St. Claire, Stephanie Tyler, Loreth Anne White, with a foreword by Robyn Carr. It's a meaty book at over 140,000 words, so readers will definitely get their money's worth! The wonderful editors and publishers of BelleBooks in Atlanta offered to edit and publish the book gratis, so 100% of all proceeds will go to The Veterans Research Corporation, a nonprofit organization for veterans medical research for all branches of the military, all wars. Thank you in advance to everyone who purchases our book—you are truly supporting the most important cause of all:  the real heroes of our world. The book is available in print ($15.95), and also for Kindle and Nook ereader devices ($9.99).

Speaking of heroes, I'd like to take a moment to recognize MY hero on this Veterans Day:  my father, Willis Bond.  Dad served in the Army (my older brother and I were both born on military bases); he did a tour in Korea and fought in the 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red 1) in the Vietnam War during the two worst years of the conflict. My dad is the most honorable man I know. I love and admire him for serving his country and raising his children (I also have a younger sister) to be patriotic, but also because he's lived his life with such nobililty. Dad is 70 now, but is still active in the community supporting veterans' causes, volunteering to perform military funerals wherever he's needed, and placing flags on the graves of Veterans for Memorial Day. I'd like to wish my dad and veterans everywhere a happy Veterans Day; thank you for your personal sacrifice for our country. God bless you all.

Happy 50th Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

Happy Golden Anniversary to my wonderful parents, Willis and Bonnie Bond, who are still in love after 50 years together! My dad is an Army Vietnam veteran, farmer, and retired oil worker.  My mother is a homemaker, caretaker, and all around angel.  My dad's eyes still follow my mom when she walks across a room.  They're just good, loving people, and I'm honored to be their daughter.  I love you, Mom and Dad!

Release Date for Book 3 in Southern Roads trilogy

Readers,

I apologize for the confusion regarding the release date of book 3 in the Southern Roads trilogy, BABY, DON'T GO.  Originally, the book was supposed to be released in August, following back to back release of books 1 and 2.  I will spare you the details, but suffice to say last fall I was seriously ill, and the treatment lasted through the winter.  My publisher offered to move the release date of book 3 to November 2011 to relieve some of the pressure of producing 3 manuscripts back to back, and I took them up on it.  I apologize for the delay, but sometimes life interferes.  (And this should answer those questions I receive occasionally asking if I actually write my own books—I do!)  I really appreciate your support of this series—I've so enjoyed writing it.  Among the other projects I have on my desk, I'm outlining a fourth book in the Southern Roads series, and a short story in an upcoming Navy SEALS project for charity ("Baby, I'm Back") will also be tied to the town of Sweetness featured in Southern Roads.

Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 29th, the release date of the 3rd book in the Southern Roads trilogy, BABY, DON'T GO!  Thank you again for your continued interest!

Best,

Stephanie

Book 2 of the SOUTHERN ROADS trilogy is available now!

The hardheaded Armstrong brothers are determined to rebuild their tornado-ravaged hometown in the Georgia mountains. They've got the means, they've got the manpower…what they need are women! So they place an ad in a Northern newspaper and wait for the ladies to arrive…

Sensible yet sexy middle brother Kendall Armstrong penned that ad himself–but there's just one woman he really wants to answer the call…

Civil engineer Amy Bradshaw–Kendall's ex-fiancee–fled Sweetness years ago, taking a precious souvenir wth her. She's back now…but only on a professional level. Really.

Little does she know that old flames always burn the hottest…

4 stars! "The second in Bond's Southern Roads trilogy features her trademark humor, smart dialogue, and steamy love scenes." –Romantic Times Book Reviews

Book 1 of the SOUTHERN ROADS trilogy is available now!

In Baby, Drive South, Porter, the youngest Armstrong, is all for importing women to help rebuild his hometown of Sweetness, Georgia.  Still, he's so blown away by the sheer numbers, he falls off the water tower when he sees the caravan driving toward town. Luckily there's a doctor among the newcomers–sweet and sexy Dr. Nikki Salinger.

And Porter has every intention of checking out her bedside manner…
