Australian writer Stuart Barnes was born and grew up in Hobart and is now based in Rockhampton. His first book, Glasshouses (UQP, 2016), won the 2015 Arts Queensland Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize for an unpublished manuscript, was commended for the 2016 FAW Anne Elder Award for best first book of poetry and shortlisted for the 2017 ASAL Dame Mary Gilmore Award for best first book of poetry. From 2014–2015 Stuart was poetry editor of Verity La, from 2013–2017 poetry editor of Tincture Journal. From 2017–2019 he was a program advisor for Queensland Poetry Festival.

Australian Poetry Anthology

Thanks to Sara Saleh and Melinda Smith for including my poem ‘The morning fog (A Golden Shovel after Kate Bush)’ in Australian Poetry Anthology Volume 8 alongside poems by K Reed-Gilbert, Matt Hetherington, Shane Strange, Thom Sullivan, Cassandra Atherton, Rose Hunter, Rae White, Eunice Andrada, Penelope Layland, Jarad Bruinstroop, Anisa Nandaula, Tricia Dearborn and Alex Skovron et al.
