All The Parts Of Him – 2

Finn

Finn claws at Grover’s jeans yanking them off in seconds, holding him at arm’s length just so he can look. Grover licks his lips, both nervous and clearly wanting to reveal himself to him. Finn smiles in encouragement, stroking his fingertips over his palms then dropping his hands down by his sides.

There is a sort of shimmer in the air, and then Grover’s tentacles are unfurling out around them. They are graceful as they move, fluid and fascinating. When they settle, Finn thinks of so...

Covet

You might be the light of my life,
But your brightness blinds me, in the throes of migraine.
You might be the only path that leads true, that knows right,
But your nearness ensnares me, and my thoughts are not sane.

Please. Take a step back and give me room to breathe,
My lungs are starved of new air when you stand so close.
You have qualities that I covet, and long to thieve,
So leave me, before I bleed you into nothing more than ghost.

All The Parts Of Him – 1

Here! Have a new story in five parts!

There has always been a part of Grover that he’s had to keep hidden; several parts, actually. Until one night outside a bar where Finn is in danger, when Grover accidentally reveals all. Will Finn still love him regardless? Of course he will! In all kinds of ways…

Finn

“I’m pretty sure if this was the Monks, Annie would have dragged them out with her bare hands.”

Finn snorts laughter into Grover’s shoulder nodding in agreement, claiming a kis...

Whatever Comes First

Matthew isn’t looking for a relationship. Ask him, and he’ll say it’s because between work and studying there’s just no time. Ask his best friend, Sarah, and the story is a little different and involves a failed relationship that left him raw.

Enter Joel, a childhood friend of Sarah’s recently back in the area. He’s not looking for love, either, but he’s not averse to the idea of a little fun. Uncomplicated and on the same page: what could possibly go wrong?

Arrest

The first arrest was made on a sleep Sunday morning when half the street were still recovering from their Saturday nights. Bundled into a police van with a coat covering their heads.

The usual whispers started. Muslim. Brainwashed. Immigrant.

The second arrest meant the press couldn’t call them a lone wolf. And the third, the assumption these terrorists insane. Just regular people who decided their views were the only ones worth following. That only they were right.

Tables were turned ...

You Know It’s Time

You know it’s time to give up on him
When you accept he won’t love you back.
When the only hand he reaches for is hers,
And all you feel is all you lack.

You know it’s time to give up on him
When her name’s never far from his voice.
When you know, despite how things could have been,
You will never be his choice.

You know it’s time to give up on him
When the hurt dulls to background pain.
Knowing that he’ll spend his life with her,
Means you’ll have to do the same.

A New Poetry Collection

Hello! Hope the world isn’t too chaotic for you!

Here’s an introduction to a new poetry collection I’m doing:

Finding our place to belong doesn’t come easy for all of us. There are all sorts of reasons for that; geographical, familial, personal, and so many others. Sometimes we can think we’ve found that place only to realise a few years later that it was just a temporary refuge. Other times it feels like everyone else around us has found their place, but we’re still out there trudging the...

Cafe

Roger blinked when saw it; a bright orange tentacle darting out from behind the counter saving his plate from crashing to the ground. Roger rubbed his eyes, convinced it was little sleep, too much coffee, and his penchant for overthinking. The only person serving was Pschemek, who had now worked in the cafe for more than two months. Roger still couldn’t pronounce his name, or work up the courage to ask him for coffee—elsewhere, as in the form of a date—but this new development? This changed ...

Skin

You keep me held together
Even when I fall apart.
Synapse, sinew, hypothalamus and heart,
Caressed, contained, concealed.
You are like shield
That I am determined to rust,
Contaminating you with things that turn you to dust
And sores,
Scratching, flaking, fading,
Then lavishing with cream and attention to restore
To full health.
I do not mean to delve
Into such murky waters that blister, taint and stain.
If I can learn to love you,
Maybe, I can be whole once again.
