Heather Boyd's Miss Merton's Last Hope #historicalromance

TourBanner_MissMertonsLastHope_600  MISS MERTON'S LAST HOPE by Heather BoydBook Three, Miss Mayhem SeriesRelease Date: October 13, 2015Genre: Regency Historical RomanceLength: 40,000 words novellaHeat Rating: Sizzling

MMLH_DC200 Over the years, Melanie Merton has used every trick and ruse to repel overeager gentlemen callers without ever revealing the real reason she won’t say yes to an offer of marriage. When neighbor Walter George jumps to her defense against slurs cast by suitor number twelve, he also pries into her past—uncovering the circumstances around a tragic loss in her childhood and her aversion to being touched by anyone. But even protective Walter must be kept at a distance for his own good, because despite a growing attraction between them, Melanie must deny him too.
Unlike other men his age in Brighton, Walter George hadn’t considered Melanie Merton for a wife because he was convinced he’d never have a chance to impress his haughty neighbor. But that was before he understood her better, before he uncovered why she kept friends and suitors alike at bay. The right husband could restore the woman he sees into some semblance of the fun-loving child of his memory, but would Walter stand a chance or become just another unlucky suitor?

Read an Excerpt
Melanie Merton hated her life. She hated the clothes she wore. The house she lived in that was no longer hers to manage. The smiles she had to bestow upon her brother’s friends while overlooking their scowls. Even without the responsibilities she’d always enjoyed, and the hours on her own, she never had a moment’s peace. She just wanted a quiet morning, and that never seemed to happen lately unless she confined herself to her bedchamber.
Today, she was entertaining Mr. Linus Radley until his sister, Julia, her new sister-in-law, came down that morning. The forms of proper behavior that had been drilled into her head since she was a young girl made it impossible for her to say what was really on her mind, even when she wanted to. She was too polite to ask Mr. Radley to go away until a more reasonable hour of the day, and had ordered tea and cake to fill the endless minutes until Julia relieved her of this duty.
“It looks to be a lovely day for a stroll,” Mr. Radley said suddenly. “Might I entice you to venture out with me to look upon the sea? With your maid, of course.”
Melanie sighed with what she hoped sounded like regret and not irritation. She would not go out walking with Linus Radley, with or without a suitable chaperone. She had seen enough of him in the past weeks not to want anything more to do with him than she absolutely had to. He was a bully. “Unfortunately, I am otherwise engaged today.”
“Oh?”
Dear God, the man wants particulars.

Excerpt:
“Wait—”
“Marianne, what are you doing here?” Sylvia Wilshire stood in the middle of the hallway. Tall and slender, she offered a radiant smile and brushed a wayward hand through her dark auburn hair. As beautiful as ever, Marianne couldn’t help but marvel at how her friend had changed in the last two years. She’d lost over a hundred pounds and had married Vince Wilshire. He also happened to be like both of their deceased husbands, an executive for Knox.
Sylvia strolled forward with the grace of a model, her green-eyed gaze full of curiosity. “I just drop by to talk to Vince for a minute.”
The man in question walked through the doorway of another office. He winked at Marianne and slid an arm around Sylvia’s shoulder. “It looks like these two beauties are keeping us from our conference call.”
“Damn,” Knox groaned and checked his watch. “We better get in there before Foster has a cow because we’re late.”
Marianne stepped aside to give him room to walk around her.
He paused next to her and glared. “I’ll call you later, and we’ll work out a time for us to get together.”
Tempted to disagree with his plan, she proposed instead, “As long as it doesn’t interfere with my other social plans.”
He groaned and dropped a kiss on her cheek. “Someday I’m going to be the first and last thing you see every day. Then your activity calendar won’t matter.”
She lifted her hand ready to point out he shouldn’t say things like that to her in front of their friends. “Knox—”
Vince tugged on Knox’s arm and interrupted, “Come on, buddy before you get yourself in more trouble than you can get out of.”

Planting the Seeds of Love by @NNP_W_Light #romance #MFRWauthor

Title: Planting the Seeds of Love: A Novella
Author: N. N. Light
Genre: Contemporary Romance, New Adult, New Adult Romance
Release Date: September 15, 2015
Tagline: Torn between two men, Sally must follow her heart and decide if love will lead her to the city or the countryside.
Blurb:
Torn between two men, Sally must follow her heart and decide if love will lead her to the city or the countryside.
Twenty-Two year old Sally Rayton returns to the family farm she deserted four years ago to bury her grandfather. Her plan: to settle her grandfather's estate and return to her life in the city with her boyfriend, Trevor Mattson.
Her childhood friend, Jack Smith, has other ideas.
Jack convinces Sally to transform the farm into a brewery and fulfill her grandfather's dream while keeping the Rayton Farm in the family. Sally works side-by-side with Jack while Trevor is hundreds of miles away in the city. The more time she spends with Jack, the stronger her feelings are for him.
When Trevor shows up to propose to Sally right before Christmas and finds her in Jack's embrace, she must make the biggest choice of her life: true love.
Excerpt:
"Jack, thank you so much for the lift into town," a woman replied behind Sally. "Let's grab some lunch before we shop."
Sally froze. She stared at Linda who shook her head. What was Jack doing with a woman in town?
"Here, let me take your coat, Emma," Jack said.
Emma? mouthed Sally to Linda.
"She's the daughter of Lonnie and Mary Beth." Linda gave Emma the look-over and scoffed, "She can't be a day over sixteen."
"What do I do?" Sally panicked. Normally she didn't care what Jack did or who he went off with. Curiosity got the better of her and she turned around.
Emma stood five foot three with curly blonde hair and innocent green eyes. Her figure was slim with curves in all the right places. Sally narrowed her eyes as Emma stood on tiptoe to kiss Jack on the cheek.
Fuming, Sally turned around. Linda chuckled.
"What?"
"You better tone down your jealousy, darlin'. You're shooting darts everywhere."
Sally gritted her teeth.
"I'm not jealous. If Jack wants school girls kissing him, what do I care?" She took a deep drink of her coffee, draining the cup. She slammed it down.
"Simmer down, here they come," whispered Linda. She waved to Jack while Sally swore under her breath.
"Well, fancy meeting you two here," Jack drawled.
Without looking up Sally retorted, "I told you I was coming into town today."
Linda kicked Sally's leg under the table. Sally plastered a smile across her face, greeting Jack and Emma.
"Yes, what a coincidence." Sally noticed Emma looping her arm in Jack's and snuggling closer.
"I was on my way into town to pick up those parts we ordered for the tractor when I ran into Emma walking by herself in the snow." Jack smiled. Emma squeezed his arm.
"He pulled over and offered me a lift into town. Isn't he a gentleman?" cooed Emma. Jack patted her hand.
Sally's chest constricted at the sight of the two of them acting all couple-y. She stared into his twinkling eyes. Oh God, is he laughing at me? Emma can't have him. He's mine. Wait what?
"So," Linda broke the strained silence. "I have to go powder my nose. Emma, would you care to join me?"
"What's that?" Emma looked confused.
Linda laughed. "It's the bathroom, dear sweet child." She stood up, untangled Emma from Jack and guided Emma away from the table.
Jack sat down.
"What's with you today?" he asked.
"Nothing." Sally cleared her throat.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Really!" A few diners turned to stare. Sally flushed with embarrassment. She didn't mean to talk so loud. She looked everywhere except in Jack's direction.
Jack observed Sally as she fidgeted, first with her coffee cup then with the silverware. His gaze unnerved her and she practically jumped out of her chair when he placed a hand over hers. Electricity flew up her arm while warmth filled her core. Butterflies raced around her stomach, only she didn't feel sick; she pulsed with life, like never before.
"Sally...look at me."
Sally shook her head.
"You'll only laugh at me."
Jack's thumb caressed her hand gently, causing her breath to hitch.
"You know I'd never laugh at you. Laugh with you, definitely, but never at you."
Sally lifted her gaze to meet Jack's loving eyes. He slid his fingers between hers, never breaking eye contact. Sparks flew between them. He moistened his lips with a flick of his tongue. Her gaze dropped to his lips.
"Please tell me. I'm begging you," he whispered.
Unable to think clearly through the fog of desire, Sally tilted her head to one side. Her skin vibrated with heat while her nerve-endings jumped at the slightest caress.
"Tell you what?" she whispered. Her throat dry, her breathing shallow, she wet her lips with her tongue. She was under a spell and everything fell away except for Jack's passionate eyes.
"Tell me what my wasted heart needs to hear." His eyes flashed. "Tell me Emma made you jealous."
Sally started to nod but Emma interrupted.
"What are you guys talking about in hushed tones? Crops and stuff?"
Jack groaned. He dropped Sally's hand as if it burned him, causing the water glasses to jostle.

Blurb:
When a jaded sheriff is drawn to an exasperating woman in trouble, anything can happen
Laurel Thomas has always experienced life from the outside looking in. She likes the warm welcome she's received in Tidal Falls and wants to make a home in this friendly little town, far away from her egocentric family. But then her uncle arrives and she learns the past has a way of catching up to her.
Jack Garrett is satisfied with his uncomplicated life. He has a good job as the sheriff of his hometown, a nice home, and a beautiful teenage daughter. So why is he struggling against his attraction for the disorganized new hire at the department, Laurel Thomas? She threatens everything he's worked so hard to avoid—like falling in love.
Can two people with enough emotional baggage to sink a ship find a way to give each other a chance, or is this match doomed to drown?

Excerpt:

Jack hesitated with his hand fisted to knock on Laurel’s pumpkin-colored door. His aunt had this thing about brightly painted doors being good luck, or some such hogwash. The murmur of a voice from within told him Laurel had company. Male company. He tapped the file in his other hand against his thigh and glared a hole through the door.
“Guess it can wait ’til morning,” he grumbled, turning to step gingerly down the snow-covered stairs. Whoever-the-asshat-was, he could have at least shoveled them off for her. Just as he reached the sidewalk an angry shout coming from inside the house startled him. Jack grabbed for his service revolver and jumped for the door. He missed the stairs entirely and dropped the file, allowing it to fall unheeded into the snowbank. The papers from within tobogganed down the slope.
He rammed a fist against the wood. “Sheriff’s department, open the door.” His heart thundered in his chest and there was a ringing in his ears. Was he having a frigging heart attack for crying out loud? He’d never reacted like this before, not even when he’d chased after a murderer a few months ago. But the thought of someone hurting…
“Laur…el,” he shouted, panic clawing the back of his throat. Jack tried the knob but it was locked. He took a step back, angled himself sideways, and prepared to slam his shoulder into the wood. He started forward, slipping a little on the icy deck boards. Good thing, because it slowed him down just enough to narrowly avoid ploughing Laurel over when she pulled the door open.
“Hello?”
When she saw him barrelling toward her with a gun in hand her beautiful eyes took over her face. “Yee…ahh,” she cried, tumbling backward and smacking her head against the now swinging door.
Fuuuck.
Jack tried backpedalling, but the slippery footing beneath his cowboy boots—dumb choice of footwear—had him sailing right into her already off-balanced body.
“Laurel, holy shit.” His hand reached out to grip her shoulder, conscious of the soft womanly feel of her plastered against his rapidly hardening body. Great. “I’m sorry, honey. Are you okay?”

INTERVIEW:
What inspired your latest book?
I’ve wanted to write a holiday romance for some time now and with the Christmas season fast approaching within my series, Wounded Hearts, it seemed like a perfect fit.
What is your typical day like?
First things, first; Coffee J
Then I usually open my blog, check for comments that need answering, do the SM trail, and end with my emails. That takes up most of my day, then it’s family time. Around nine or ten at night the house gets quiet and I can work on my newest project, a paranormal romance. I do that until midnight or so, go to bed, read a couple of chapters, and start the whole process over the next day. I know, exciting hey?
How much time do you spend promoting your books?  What works best for you?
Probably not as much as I should be, it’s hard to promote without making people tune you out. You need to be inventive. Meme’s are great and easy to set up; I use Canva.com for mine. Paying for ads can help, just don’t let it eat up all of your budget; a couple that I’ve found good are Choosey Bookworm and The Ereader Cafe
Other than that I think it’s key to make friends with likeminded writers. There’s nothing better than having a large group of supporters guarding your back.
How has your experience with self-publishing been?
I’m happy I decided to go the self-publishing route. It’s enabled me to be my own boss. That being said, there’s no one else to blame if I don’t succeed. There’s a lot of work involved in becoming an indie author. And that’s afterwriting the best novel the world’s ever seen. You need to be willing to take on all aspects of the business, because that is what being self-pubbed is; a business. From cover design, to formatting and uploading, to book-keeping and promoting. Writing is a full-time job.
Do you have critique partners?
Yes, I do. Critique partners are crucial to the writing process. They are your beta readers, editors, critics, and biggest supporters all rolled up into one neat package. I belong to a fantastic group called Lethal Ladies, which is a part of RWA’s Kiss of Death chapter-specializing in the romantic suspense genre. I also belong to a group of four wonderful ladies from my local group, Vancouver Island Romance Writers, who I cherish for their kindness and generosity.
Give us an elevator pitch for your book.

What genres are you drawn to as a reader?
I generally look to romantic suspense novels for my reading pleasure. I like the tension and the fight to overcome evil that is the mark of a good suspense book. The hero/heroine have to fight tremendous odds to get their happy ever after. It makes the reader gain empathy and keeps those pages turning J

If you would like to win an e-copy edition of The Sheriff Meets His Match, tell me your favorite go-to author and why you like them so much. I’ll draw a name out of the hat Sept 30.
Thank you for having me as a guest today, Tina, and remember—it’s all about the romance J

Excerpt

Léon’s eyes darkened, shimmering wide and midnight black. The moon bathed his face, highlighting the planes and angles, and leaving his mouth a firm, carved line. He leaned towards me, reaching out a hand to settle my cardigan more securely around my shoulders. His fingers brushed my neck, and I shivered.
‘You’re not used to the evening air,’ he said, his voice a murmur. ‘Perhaps we should go back inside. Daria would never forgive me if you caught a chill.’
‘No,’ I said in a firm whisper. ‘If I go back inside that room again, it will kill me. Please, Léon.’
He nodded. ‘Very well. Just a little while longer.’
And so we sat there in silence, the two of us, and this escape into the night, sitting side by side with Léon, listening to the faint heartbeat of the city and the murmur of the sea – this brief escape was one of the happiest moments of my entire life.
I brought my knees up and rested my hands on top of them, leaning back against the stone wall of the balcony. I don’t know how long we sat there. Neither of us felt the need to speak. Occasionally Léon shifted position, stretching his legs out in front of him. I heard his steady breathing, and the flap of a bird’s wings overhead, and time seemed to stand still. Perhaps I even began to drift into sleep. I had the impression we were riding in the basket of a balloon in the night sky, far above the world, away from all tension and stress. For the first time since I’d arrived in Montverrier, my mind was completely relaxed.
And then a new noise drifted upwards from the city. A staccato splutter, repeated three or four times. Léon shot bolt upright.
‘Oh, fireworks,’ I said. ‘How lovely. Such a shame we can’t stand and watch – ’
He hauled me to my feet in a flash, pressing his hand on my back so that I remained crouching. ‘Get inside.’
There was the distant whir of an engine approaching. Léon bundled me over the sill of the balcony and pushed me into the sitting-room, closing the thick plate door after him. Then he dragged me by the hand and forced me down on one of the sofas, with its back to the windows. I could see nothing except the silk cushions.
‘Stay there.’ His eyes were wide and fixed on the sky outside.
The engine’s rumble grew louder, and I recognised the clatter of a helicopter’s blades. My heart began to race, thumping in hard, tiny beats against my rib-cage.

Fairy Fun by @AnitaPhilmar Part of a 16 Book Mega Bundle #99cents #erotic #ASMSG

Anita Philmar's Fairy Fun is part of a 16 Book Mega Bundle She wanted to share an excerpt and tell you about this incredible deal.

Blurb:
Dedrick Forester, Prince of Endole, is fast approaching the end of his fairy cycle, which means losing his ability to fly, transforming into a wood gnome, and having to choose a mate. Until then he just wants to have fun...and lots of sex.

King Rosewood of Evermore is determined to see his daughter wed, but Chloe loves the freedom of fairy flight too much to settle down as a frumpy old wood gnome. She escapes and spreads her wings to reach new heights...like air sex with a stranger.

Combine her passion with Dedrick's and sparks light up the sky. Both discover pleasure beyond their wildest fantasies. But neither is prepared for the emotional connection. Now Dedrick must convince Chloe that losing her wings doesn't mean there aren't other ways to fly?
 Excerpt:
Mel laughed and wiped a rag over the bar. “What you need is a stiff chocolate drink. It’ll help ease the pain in your crotch. And as part of the royal family, every girl in the forest would love to be your bride. They just haven’t decided exactly how to catch you.” Mel glanced at the patrons scattered throughout the bar. “Once they make up their minds, you’ll be hard pressed to satisfy them all.”
“I wish,” Dedrick weighted the options of enjoying sex against the cost of a long-term commitment. If his lust turned to love, then he could satisfy his parent’s demands. He’d marry and have a wife to fuck regularly. “But I can’t let loose right now, because I don’t want to lose my ability to fly just yet.”
“Most fairies love flying, but there are advantages to having your feet on the ground.” Mel picked up a coco-shell cup and placed it under the spout before pulling back the lever. The rich aroma of chocolate filled the area.
Wow, just a whiff and the wicked scent calmed Dedrick’s racing hormones.
After filling the shell, Mel placed the drink in front of Dedrick. “You don’t have long before you’re pass the age to fly any ways.”
“Have you ever done it while flying?” A soft female voice whispered near Dedrick’s right shoulder.
He turned.
A fairy with dark auburn hair stood a few steps away. Her sea green eyes held a teasing glint and a come-hither smile welcomed him closer. He dropped his gaze and scanned her lush body.

Don’t Stop Dreaming with Kimberly Dean’s Dream Weavers Series #freebook #paranormalromance

Today I welcome author Kimberly Dean, who’s excited to announce the release of the second book in her Dream Weavers series, Dream Walker.  To celebrate, she’s offering the first book, Dream Man, for free for a limited time on Smashwords!

Dream Weavers
Genre: Paranormal erotic romance

They are the Oneiroi, Greek daemons of dreams. As Dream Weavers, their mission is to watch over sleeping humans—for without dreams, chaos can reign. So the Oneiros brothers blend in with the waking world by day and watch over their charges by night, protecting humans from the creatures who would prey upon their sleep. But what happens when the Oneiroi have dreams of their own? And what happens when they fall in love with those they’re duty-bound to protect – or the enemies they’ve sworn to fight?

Dream Walker
Tag line:  Take a walk on the wild side!

See what happens when a Dream Weaver falls in love with a beautiful scientist plagued by sleepwalking.

Excerpt:
He’d let her fall asleep.
It was the first clear thought that ran through Shea’s mind when she opened her eyes. That and the fact that Derek was still with her. His heat pressed against her back, and his arm draped heavily across her waist. They were lying side by side on her bed, her body tucked up close against his.
Yet even as she responded in pleasure, she tensed.
Darkness was falling. They’d spent the day making love, and now the sun was setting. Night was creeping in. She stared at the oil painting that hung on the wall until her nerves began to crawl. Even the littlest thing could set her Somnambulist off—and today had been anything but normal—yet she’d let herself be lulled into sleep.
What had she been thinking?
“There you are,” a deep voice rumbled. The hand against her stomach flexed, and she was pulled more tightly against the big male form behind her.
A muscled thigh slipped between her legs, and Shea arched as a soft kiss was placed on the side of her neck. The intimate embrace had her groaning. Obviously, she hadn’t been thinking. Her brain had been shorted out, disconnected, and thrown right into the bathwater.
How could she have let her guard down like that? The freedom had been fantastic, arousing and intoxicating as fine wine, but how could she have forgotten what had been happening to her? What had happened just this morning?
Had she… Oh, God. Had she done anything in her sleep? With Derek here?
“How long have I been out?” she asked in a rush.
“Not long.”
That rumbling voice was too disconcerting, too sexy. She had to look into his eyes. Tucking the sheet up high under her arms, she rolled over to face him. When she did, her breath caught in her chest. His short hair was mussed, and dark shadows lined his jaw. The bad boy look didn’t fit his character, but it was so incredibly hot she had to press her legs together.
Unable to help herself, she let her gaze drop. She took in the well-drawn lines of his body, his muscled chest and rippling abs, but the sheet sitting low on his hips wasn’t what made her look up again. It was the relaxed look on his face. She’d never seen him so calm, so relaxed, so at ease in the moment. It made her belly warm.
Relaxed had to be good, right? If she’d gotten up and danced zombie pirouettes around the bedroom, he wouldn’t be relaxed.
Or so obviously ready to make love to her again.

Tales of the C.H.O.S.E.N by @KayelleAllen #scifi #boxset

Author:  Kayelle Allen
Book:  Tales of the Chosen Boxed Set: Wulf, Alitus, Jawk (Erotic Gay Scifi)
Release Date:  (Approx if unsure.) Sept 17, 2015

Blurb
In the secret society of the Chosen, a group of mortals who serve the immortal Sempervians, being gay or straight is no different from being brown-eyed or blue-eyed. No one notices or cares. But disloyalty among the Chosen is punishable by death, and in this trilogy, everyone's loyalty is questioned.
Covert alignments, mistrust, mistakes, and regrets pepper the playing field. Both the Chosen and the Sempervians harbor enemies and spies within their ranks -- some known and tolerated, others concealed behind layers so convoluted eternity isn't long enough to figure them out. When you factor in multiple allegiances and aliases, knowing who to trust takes on a whole new level of danger -- especially if you live forever.
When the fate of hearts rivals the fate of worlds, victory costs everything.
Includes Bonus Book: An Immortal's Guide to Tarth; A Handbook for Immortals Relocating to the Tarthian Empire.

Review:
I am in total awe of Ms. Allen's writing style as she creates a world that had me on the edge of my seat as Luc and Wulf fell in love and found them learning to trust one another. I loved the dynamics between Wulf and Luc as well as other characters that play a major part in Wulf.

Excerpt

While we are more than glad to welcome a fellow immortal into the Empire, you should be aware that the relationship between Mundanes (mortals) and ourselves is not an open one. To that end, let's dive straight into the ironclad rules.
By order of Pietas ap Lorectic, Lord of the Immortals, the Impaler, Hammer of God, Marauder, Soul Ripper, Destroyer of Worlds, Slayer of Innocents, Hound of Hell, you are ordered to set aside this book if you not immortal. Put down this book, walk away, and no one will get hurt. Should you decide to disobey this directive, that assurance is void.
With that warning in mind, you may proceed at your own risk.
