Waiting on a Baby

Waiting on a book to arrive from the publisher is a bit like waiting on a baby to arrive. There's anticipation, wondering if one will know how to take care of the incoming details, how to make this thing grow, and how it's going to change one's life. As I'm a bit older and wiser, for this first delivery, I take, what I hope, is a less frenetic attitude. I worked hard to get here, and I want to enjoy the ride. There will be a different type of hard work to come, keeping this book on a reader's radar, but like all babies, there's a learning curve. Thank God, for that.

Bye, Bye Books

Today was the first book event for my newest novel, Comfort Foods, and it was a doozy. I paired up with one of my favorite local shops--Barron's--who was hosting their annual Christmas Showcase and benenfitted from a lot of shoppers who were so happy to have a reason to leave their homes and venture into retail again.

Comfort Foods tells the story of a social media blogger who flames out spectacularly and lands in Comfort, Texas. As she sorts out what remains of her life, she gets involved with friends and their projects, and in turn, meets an Austin, TX chef who is on the verge of professional ruin. But, when they get in the kitchen together magic happens.

Thankfully so many shoppers left Barron's today with books in their bags and something sweet to read on those crisp autumn nights. Can't wait to hear what they think of Lacy and Rudy's story. If you'd like to get in on the new novel, you can find it on Amazon either in paperback or e-Book. I promise, it's calorie free.

Book Tour for Comfort Foods

This is going to be a fun week! Tomorrow, Lone Star Literary Bloggers are taking my new novel, Comfort Foods, on a book tour around the state and revealing their reviews and features about the book to their subscribers and other bookish folks. It's always nervy waiting on the verdict of reviewers with a history of reading some really excellent books, and wondering how mine will compare. This contemporary, sweet, second chances story is full of unforgettable characters, fast-paced dialogue, social media upheavals that twist the plot, and tons of virtual calories. I'll have the posts shared to my Kimberly Fish, author page on Face Book and the reviews will go up soon afterwards.

I'm offering a FREE book GIVEAWAY on this book tour including a signed copy of my novel, Comfort Foods, and a gift copy of Ina Garten's newest cookbook, Modern Comfort Foods--doesn't that sound like a delicious pairing? You can enter the giveaway through any of the review posts that will go up daily at Lone Star Literary and my FB page through January 21st.
