Audiobook & Print-on-Demand

Alright, I don’t remember what I told people off-hand about the audiobook production, but I think I need to speak about it. I signed the contract to get the audiobook produced, but that was before I got the editor who went through Ancient Ruins for me. I screwed up by not thinking things through, and only told the audiobook producer about the editing after I’d already sent it off. Fortunately it was before they started production, but it still was really dumb of me to do. I got the producer t...

Writing Teasers

I asked if people wanted to read a couple of sample chapters from other titles I’ve worked on but not finished, and since at least three people said yes, I’ve put them up. I must say that these are first-draft versions, so things may change in each of the two!

Also, had a momentary heart attack when I thought I’d somehow lost over 50 pages of the second story. That was a bad experience.

March 5th Update

Spells of Old currently sits at just over 87,000 words, before I begin writing today. I hope to hit 91,000 today, but we’ll see how much the muse cooperates after my day of rest.

Also, I updated the file for Ancient Ruins with a fully edited version, but it appears that the changes weren’t enough to cause Amazon to push new versions out to everyone who has purchased copies before this. That annoys me, but there’s nothing I can do about it. If anyone wants to see it, everything I’ve seen says...

Ancient Ruins Update

So, Ancient Ruins has been edited. I went through to check the changes, and have uploaded a new copy of it to Kindle. Hopefully they approve it. I also went out today and got a few pictures of me taken so that I could actually have an author page. I’m a bit pale for me since I’m an indoor nightowl, but it should be up on my page.

Taking a Rest Day

Pretty much what I said in the title. I’ve been working hard on Spells of Old for a while now, and I’m taking a day for rest and relaxation. I’ll get back to it tomorrow, but I’m still keeping an eye on things here if people feel like asking questions.

Update & More Books I Like

First off, I found a good editor who’s within my current budget that I like. They are currently editing Ancient Ruins for me, and I should have it back today or tomorrow. I’m seeing this as a test-run for Spells of Old, and if it goes well, this will dramatically speed up when I can release Spells of Old! It also is in preparation of getting Ancient Ruins set up for Print On Demand, so hopefully that, and a fully updated copy for Kindle, will be ready within the week.

Other people began chimi...

Authors and Series I Like

So, as I read a lot, I figure I may as well share what some of my favorite series are, as well as some of my favorite authors. These are being listed in the order that they come to mind, not in the order of which I like the most.

David Weber: Primarily consisting of science fiction, David Weber creates elegantly crafted worlds that are amazingly complex and realistic. I love his earlier work, especially the rewritten novel In Fury Born, but as I’ve aged, I’ve found him to be growing a little...

Promoting Others

I have an acquaintance I met on a writing site, Mara Amberly. She’s a fellow writer, and gave me a lot of good advice and time when I was first figuring out what the heck I was doing. While my book exploded, one of hers, Fire and Gold has been moseying along with less visibility, so I thought I’d take a bit to at least give her some visibility as thanks for what she helped me with.

Now, I want to make something clear. Mara has a very, very different style of writing than I have. Her books are...

Fuzzy Distractions

So, last year my wife and I adopted a cat. His name is Baloo. No, we did not name him…that was the fault of the people that had him before us. Poor guy had been taken to the shelter and was desperately looking for a family. I love him to pieces, but he can be an incredible distraction.

The other day I heard a ‘murr’ (he can’t meow, the cat’s stuck on vibrate) from behind me, but I was writing. Then a paw batted at the back of my head, and I turned to see…this.

Frustration and Motivation

So, today Total War: Warhammer released their Bretonnia expansion. Of all the factions released to date, the lore of Bretonnia is the most palatable to me, though the wood elves are close. This leads me to my frustration.

I am weak-willed in many ways. If I start playing the campaign, I won’t want to stop until I finish. Even if that means starting over and over and over again. All other projects, especially writing, will suffer. But I really, really want to play it as well. Thus I’ve come to...
