So Silver Bright ARC Contest: The Great Fairy Hunt
Still wanting to win an Advance Review Copy of SO SILVER BRIGHT? Here's your next chance! Grab a camera, and go on a Great Fairy Hunt!
The Rules:
You have to obtain photographic proof of the existence of fairies. Now, it might look like that fairy is false (a doll, a charm, a music box) but WE know that's just their wiley magic at work. Look in all the usual places: in a garden, in a tree, in a pie... Perhaps you might need to set a fairy trap with cupcakes as bait. With patience and cunning, you should be able to snap a picture of Peaseblossom or her friends!
Once you have your photo:
Post it on your blog, your Facebook page, or your Twitter stream (bonus entries in the random drawing for doing all three!) with a link to this contest and the Théâtre Illuminata website. Email me ( lisa at lisamantchev dot com ) with the subject header THE GREAT FAIRY HUNT and include link(s) to your photographic evidence. Deadline is midnight, Wednesday, June 8th.Contest open worldwide, but please note if you are an international entry in your email.Winners will be chosen by a panel of photomythological experts by Friday, June 10thOriginal material only. Please do not yoink a picture off the internet and claim it as your own or the fairies will hunt you down and poke you with pokey things. But perhaps you are unsucessful in your hunt for a fairy. YOU CAN STILL WIN AN ARC. If you post the details of this contest and link back to it on your blog, Facebook, or Twitter account, you will also be entered into the random drawing. Same email address and subject header as above, and please include links to the places you've posted. :)

SSB Blurb Contest Winners!
We received a huge batch of really great entries... I narrowed it down to six, and
sunilsebastian
(web guru, sidekick, weekend ninja) picked his top three favorites.
The winners, without further ado:
Mantchev's tale of theatrics and magic plunges the reader further into her enchanting world as we see the culmination of all the adventures had, loves lost and pies eaten in this third and final volume. Peaseblossom's conflicted love triangle with her marzipan suitor and a torte she happened by one day brings the reader face to face with their own demons, while Mustardseed's hopeless search to find his long lost brother strips away the conventions of the nuclear family. Moth and Cobweb put their differences aside to team up once more (to what will undoubtedly be great fan rejoicing) and finally solve the ongoing mystery of the Stage Manager's brutal murder by stuffed shirt. Also, Bertie does stuff. --Amanda Rush
From the scenes of Bertie unleashing a barrage of bullets eliminating an army of zombies in a post-apocalyptic wasteland; to her declaring whom she truly loves while creating an enormous mess concocting a myriad of sweets for the fairies, Mantchev really bakes up a sweet conclusion to her series that will keep readers turning the pages. --Stephen Rodge
Facing such frightening obstacles as vegan cupcakes, a local band of bloodsucking predators with a penchant for glitter, and the mystery-shrouded persona TinyDoom!, Bertie and her friends embark on a journey that will leave readers with a sense of satisfaction and a longing for delicious baked goods. History enthusiasts will appreciate Mantchev's nod to the Boston Tea Party in a terrifying scene entailing everyone's favorite fearsome foursome of fairies and a torrent of caffeinated beverages, but it is her ingenious, tragic conclusion featuring traditional Alpine yodeling that is the crowning glory of the novel. --Chloe Palka
If you didn't win, never fear, we shall be running another ARC contest SOON. :)
And an extra round of applause to Amanda, who will be receiving an ARC copy of
beth_bernobich 's awesome YA debut, FOX & PHOENIX! :)

Advance Review Copies: Info and Blurb Contest!
SO SILVER BRIGHT arcs have arrived at the Feiwel & Friends offices. Word is that a very limited number have been printed, so:
If you are a blogger with a dedicated site, please email me (lisa at lisamantchev dot com) with your mailing information. Please include links/URLs to your reviews of Eyes Like Stars and Perchance To Dream. All information will then be forwarded to my PR folks.
If you are a theater series enthusiast, here are your instructions for the very first ARC contest: I WANT FAKE BLURBS. Silly blurbs. Ridiculous blurbs. Funny blurbs. The wittier the better. Allow
sunilsebastian
, sidekick and ninja, demonstrate:
"Bertie's adventures take on a much more serious tone in this conclusion to the Theatre Illuminata Trilogy. The explosive climax seems torn out of a vintage Schwarzeneggar movie though the choreography of the gunplay is almost suggestive of John Woo's films. It's an odd transition from fantasy to firearms, but Mantchev calls down the rain."
and
"The fairies' death scene is grand and operatic, and the onslaught of near-obliteration moments whittling down the four brings a strange gravitas to the light-hearted sprites. Peaseblossom's final moments are gripping. "
If I pick your blurb for use on the Theater Website, you get an ARC of So Silver Bright for your very own. Feel free to post your blurbs in the comments, but ONLY blurbs emailed (lisa at lisamantchev dot com) will be considered official entries. Deadline is midnight, Sunday, April 10th.
And the cherry on the contest sundae: The BEST of the BEST blurbs will also receive an uber-shiny ARC of
beth_bernobich
's fabulous YA-debut novel FOX & PHOENIX, due out in September!

A note from the Management:
This is an official announcement to say I have withdrawn my short story "The Bridge" and my support from the Wicked Pretty Things anthology. This was not a decision that was fun or easy to make, but it was the right one.
All love stories need to be told.
[[Edit: In case you missed the lead-up, the editor of this anthology requested (of an another author, Jessica Verday) that a male/male romantic relationship be rewritten as male/female. Official statements by the author, editor, and publishing house have all been posted on Jessica's blog.]]

My Best Intentions
I woke up with a belly full of fire, ready to conquer the world, the house, the garden, AND the work-in-progress, not necessarily in that order. But by the time I got everyone out the door and dealt with Cranky Teething Doom alternating with the Endless Laundry Pile for two and a half hours, my mood is now more clean ALL the things? than ever.
But I shall persevere! I shall triumph!
Looking ahead to time management and recognizing my own limitations, yesterday I also threw the towel in (FOREVER) on anything but the most perfunctory container gardening, and we began ripping out the front fenced section, filling in the flower beds around the house with repurposed patio rock. Seriously, what kind of self-respecting tree-loving earth elemental rips out a garden to make More Driveway?
Don't you judge me. All I ever managed to cultivate was weeds and exasperation. The world doesn't need more of those.
Now, to plant little story seedlings in my brain instead, and feed them with ginger molasses cookies and water them with fresh shots of espresso!
(Seriously, make me feel better and tell me what you feel guilty for NOT doing to make time for the writing. Enablers, unite!)

Hello, Boys
Working on a short piece, thinking about bad boys this morning... needing to fix a mental picture of New Character in my head sent me looking for pics...
and so, just for the pretty, have the Dream Cast for the Theater Boyz:
Nate, played by the scruffiest version of Ben Barnes I could find:

And Ariel played by a shirtless Harry Shum Jr:

OM NOM NOM *cougar meow*
