#BookBlast Resolutions by @TeriLRiggs

Teri Riggs was destined to be a writer.  As a small girl she didn’t read bedtime stories, she made up her own.  Who needed Little Red Riding Hood or The Three Little Pigs when there were so many great tales bouncing around in her head?  When she grew up and became a mother to three little girls, she continued the tradition of making up bedtime stories.  On the occasions she chose to tell conventional fairytales, Teri usually gave them a bit of tweaking here and there or added a new ending.  Her girls loved it.

After her daughters had the nerve to actually grow up and leave home, Teri discovered she had a passion for writing and jumped right in.  It came as no surprise she chose to write mysteries and happily-ever-after’s since that’s the genres she loves to read.

Teri lives in Marietta, Georgia with her husband, one of her daughters and two dogs that seem to think they rule the world.  And some days Teri thinks maybe they do.

Teri still frequently tells herself stories as she falls asleep.  The only difference now is she wakes up the next morning and turns her bedtime stories into books.

Blurb:DEA agent Eve Taylor has had her fill of alpha males. When Resolutions’ operative and former lover, Dillon “Mac” McKenna, threatened her hard-earned independence, she ran. On a mission to gather evidence against a Colombian drug-lord, Eve discovers the drug-lord is helping terrorists plan an attack on American soil. Before she can escape with the vital information, she’s captured and comes face to face with her mortality…

As a teen, Mac watched his family fall apart after his mother died doing dangerous U.N. work. The possibility of losing Eve to a mission ignited an overwhelming need to protect her. When he forced her to choose him or her job, she walked away. Two years later, it seems all his nightmares have come true and he’s tasked with rescuing her from a Colombian prison. Mac has never stopped loving Eve, but does he dare risk his heart when he’s so terrified of losing…

On the run, Mac and Eve must learn to trust each other again in order to stay alive.
Excerpt:   Mac opened the door, but positioned his body to block Rex from entering.
“You get five minutes, Brewer. Then I want you out.”
“You’ve got no right to issue orders, McKenna. Step aside.”
Towering above Rex, Mac didn’t budge.
“Come on, McKenna, don’t be an ass.”
Before he showed Rex exactly how much of an ass he could be, Cade stepped between them.
“Hey, partner, he’s gonna see Eve eventually. Move and let him in. The sooner he sees her, the sooner he’s on his way back home, and out of our hair.”
Mac looked at Eve. A full grimace replaced her half-smirk. Her eyes were all but pleading with his. Damn. He let Rex in.
“Don’t forget, Brewer, five minutes.” Mac tapped the face of his watch. “Starting now.”
Cade silently left the room. Mac stepped to a corner, stood with his feet firmly planted, and crossed his arms.
Rex moved to Eve’s bed and looked over his shoulder at Mac, suspicion etching his features. “How about some privacy here?”
“No fucking way, Brewer. You’re wasting your five minutes…nope, make that four minutes, thirty-two seconds.”
   “Mac, please.”
Unable to refuse her, he gave in. “I’m right outside the door if you need me.”
He zeroed in on Rex. “I’m watching the clock.” For good measure, he added, “And you.”
Mac stomped from the room, deliberately leaving the door open. Cade, standing in the hall, grinned and shook his head.
“That little show of manliness make you feel better?”
   “Fuckin’ right.”

She currently lives with her husband and children in Calgary.

Jodi will award signed print copies of all three books in the Thin Veil series to one randomly selected winner.

a Rafflecopter giveaway
THROUGH THE DOOR (Book #1)

It’s been seven years since the love of Cedar McLeod’s life left with no forwarding address. All she has left of him are heart-wrenching memories of happier times and a beautiful six-year-old daughter, Eden. Then, one day, Eden opens her bedroom door and unwittingly creates a portal that leads to anywhere she imagines.
But they’re not the only ones who know of Eden’s gift, and soon the child mysteriously vanishes.
Desperate for answers, Cedar digs into the past and finds herself thrust into a magical world of Celtic myths, fantastical creatures, and bloody rivalries. Teaming up with the unlikeliest of allies, Cedar must bridge the gap between two worlds and hold tight to the love in her heart…or lose everything to an ancient evil.
The first in the Thin Veil series, Through the Door is a pulse-pounding adventure that takes readers across the globe and deep into the hidden realms of Celtic lore.
Excerpt:

“Shh, it’s okay,” Cedar said, rubbing Eden’s back. Tears were pricking at her own eyes, but she tried to hold them back. “Your father was a really good person.”
“But why isn’t he here?” Eden sniffed.
Cedar took a deep breath to steady her voice. “I don’t know, to be honest. I wish I did. He went away before he knew I was pregnant. He didn’t leave because of you, Eden. That’s really important for you to understand. When you came along, I tried to find him. But I couldn’t. I’m sorry.”
Eden pulled away, her face twisted. “It’s not fair!” Cedar tried to hug her again, but Eden yanked herself free and stormed down the hall. Cedar stood and watched her disappear around the corner. She’d give her a few minutes of alone time, and then go talk to her again. She listened for the inevitable slamming of Eden’s door. It didn’t come. Instead, Eden’s screams died off as suddenly as if she had run out of air. The apartment fell silent, a sharp contrast to the storm of six-year-old anger that had been raging only moments before.
“Eden?” Cedar called out. Nothing. “Eden?” she tried again, starting to walk down the hall.
“Mummy? Mummy!” came Eden’s voice.
Cedar quickly rounded the corner and saw Eden standing in the hallway outside her bedroom, staring open-mouthed through the gaping doorway. There was some sort of light reflecting on her face. It glimmered and shifted and created strange shapes and lines on her skin, casting her in an otherworldly glow. A slight breeze was lifting the edges of her sundress, brushing it against her legs. A small trail of fine sand crept through the doorway and was starting to collect around her feet.
“What is it, Eden?” Cedar asked as she moved to stand beside her daughter. Then her jaw dropped. “What the…?”
The two of them stood in shocked silence, looking into the room. The air in the open
doorway was sparkling with a thousand points of light, like the surface of a pond catching the mid-afternoon sun. They could still see what was on the other side, but through a film. In this case, the film glittered and moved. Even more remarkable than the way the air had changed in the doorway was what was on the other side.

INTO THE FIRE (Book #2)

Cedar McLeod would like nothing more than to return to Tír na nÓg, help rebuild the mythical kingdom, and start a new life for herself and her daughter, Eden. But peace isn’t what Cedar finds after being reunited with her little girl.
Nuala—who kidnapped and terrorized Eden in her previous bid for power—has returned and is making a persuasive claim for the vacant throne. The devastation such a ruler would bring upon both the kingdom and the human world is unthinkable. With no one else to stake a convincing counter-claim, Cedar steps forward...but first she must prove her worth beyond a doubt.
Her opportunity comes when she is charged with finding an ancient treasure, the Stone of Destiny, and returning it to its rightful home. It is a quest that will lead her to question her beliefs, and push her loyalties to their limits. If she succeeds, Cedar could grant her new world and her new family a chance to flourish again. If not...destruction may be the only path ahead.
Into the Fire, the second book in the Thin Veil series, is a captivating blend of Celtic myth, mystery, and adventure that delves deeper into the ancient world first explored in Through the Door.
AMONG THE UNSEEN (Book #3)
Life just keeps getting more complicated for Cedar McLeod. As the recently crowned queen of Tír na nÓg, she’s trying to understand her magical new kingdom, even as she misses her life back on Earth. It doesn’t help that a dear friend has just betrayed her—a betrayal that almost cost Cedar and her family their lives. And things aren’t easy at home, either, as Cedar’s seven-year-old daughter, Eden, lost and lonely in Tír na nÓg despite her special powers, has become painfully distant.
Cedar vows to do whatever it takes to protect her family once and for all, and starts rounding up those who plotted against her. But then a new disaster breaks out: a mysterious sickness is plaguing the Unseen, Ireland’s magical creatures, including those Cedar knows and loves. With enemies still on the loose and not knowing whom she can trust, Cedar must race against time to reverse an ancient curse, in a journey that will take her from Tír na nÓg to Earth…and beyond.
Brimming with page-turning adventure, Among the Unseen—the exciting conclusion to Jodi McIsaac’s Thin Veil trilogy—weaves an enchanting, captivating spell.

#BookBlast On Her Watch by Rie Warren @RieWrites

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Rie will be awarding a Kindle format ebook of In His Command, In His Sights, and On Her Watch plus a Don't Tell series swag bag to a randomly drawn winner via the Rafflecopter at the end of this post during the tour (swag bag is US ONLY). Remember, the more stops you visit and comment, the better your chances to win.

The year is 2071 and all hell has broken loose. As the government tries to control the territories that were once the United States, an armed rebellion erupts . . .

AWOL from her military post, Lieutenant Liz Grant will do anything for the rebels she now calls friends. Her latest mission: return to the Beta Corps army and obtain classified information that could turn the battle in the revolutionaries’ favor. There’s only one problem: Commander Linc Cutler.

Strong, coldly handsome, and always in control, Linc is perplexed by the beautiful soldier brought in for questioning. He doesn’t know if he believes her explanation for why she went missing. He only knows his intense sexual desire for her cannot be denied.

Now enjoy an excerpt:

The troopers backed away from me, out of the office, closing the door behind them. I watched Linc, releasing a smile. His guards had left me fully armed and operational with my two babes, chrome Desert Eagle 44 mag dates from hell, holstered on my hips. Seeing him unarmed—hands pressed behind his back--made me think he might be as foolhardy as the Freelanders, but I doubted it.

I didn’t have to doubt for long.

Sharp jaw, full lips, and his arrogant nose showed in profile when he calmly mentioned, “If you even think about going for your sidearms, you’ll be dead before you make a move, Lieutenant Grant.”

My gurgled laugh hurt my bruised ribs. “I might be willing to test that theory.”

Movements fast and liquid, he came at me and cornered me under one of the cameras. Hands braced on either side of me, Linc’s breath brushed across my temple. “You’re in no position to test me, Liz.”

Hot restraint rolled off him. Not a single muscle moved from the breadth of his chest held a scant space from my breasts to his rugged shoulders straining the seams of his shirt.

My gaze flashed to his, the burning blue brightness unraveling my protective shell. No man had ever affected me like this. My short fingernails tapped the holstered Eagles in warning. A warning that had no effect on Linc as his breath dragged deeper, filling out his chest until it came flush to mine.

A Yankee transplant via the UK and other wild journeys, Rie happily landed in Charleston, South Carolina, with her English artisan husband and their two small daughters--one an aspiring diva, the other a future punk rocker. After earning her degree in Fine Arts, Rie promptly gave up paintbrushes and canvas for paper and pen (because she decided being a writer was equally as good an idea as being an artist, of course it was). That was fifteen years ago, her writing career started! With a manuscript of super epic proportions! Safely stored under a lace doily in a filing cabinet. Possibly in England . . .

Since then she's done this and that, here and there, usually in the nonprofit arena, until she returned to her dream of being a writer. Even though Rie basks in the glorious southern sunshine as often as she can, she's mostly a nocturnal creature adjourning to her writer's atelier (spare bedroom) in search of her next devious plot twist or delicious passionate tryst.

No matter what genre or gender pairing she's writing, she combines a sexy southern edge with humor and heart--and a taste of darkness.

#Interview with Shawna C. Jones for Twist of Fate

Shawna C. Jones lives in the US, when she's not traveling the world. She lives with her husband, and "inner demon" quite peacefully now. She is continuing her mission of helping others, and encouraging young people to travel and follow their dreams.Website
Facebook
1. At any given time do you work on only one story at a time and maybe plot out the next one or are there many ideas racing around your head? I write long hand first, and as I’m writing other ideas may creep in. I make a note of it, but continue with the story I’m on. I rewrite long hand and make revisions. By the time I get to the computer to type it out, it flows fairly well. But that doesn’t mean I won’t make minor changes. Sometimes another word sounds better, or I feel it needs to be rewritten.
2. Is there a genre you haven't written in but would like to? Or wish you could write in? Murder mysteries. I love them. Perhaps I could have had John (in the book) mysteriously killed off. But wait! I don’t think I would have looked for the killer too closely. Bad example.      3. Do you add an element of romantic suspense in your stories? I only add romance, if there is one. Since my book was based on my life with romance there, it became a part of the story.
4. Say you have unlimited funds: What kind of writing office/cottage would you create for yourself? My office would look like a crystal clear pyramid placed on a cliff overlooking nature. There would be lots of pillows, but also cushioned benches to lounge on. I would have my notebook and write while looking at the outdoors. And if writer’s block showed up, I would place a pillow or chair underneath the apex of the pyramid, and meditate until I received some insight or answers.
5. If you could turn your novel into a TV show, which novel or series would you do? Where would it be set? Network TV (ABC, NBC, CBS), Cable (AMC, BBC, Lifetime) or Premium Cable (HBO, Showtime, Starz)? “Twist of Fate” would easily translate to a movie. Since I’m not a fan of commercials, a premium cable would be the ideal setting. I like all of them, especially HBO and Showtime.
6. Finally, tell us about your latest release! The book “Twist of Fate” is about my travels in Europe, and it’s about a starseed’s journey. A person’s search for their Real Home. A place of belonging.  And there were parts of Europe where that fit that sense of belonging as well, but nothing compares to a starseed’s home. In fact I dedicated my book to starseeds.
The book details the journey I went on, but condensed ones, thanks to my editor. I fictionalized the character’s looks, nationalities, and names for legal reasons. I changed my childhood location.
There are many themes in the book such as: psychic predictions, fate, karma, soul mates, past lives/reincarnation, and starseeds.  I feel I have to come up with my own genre such as soul intimacy with cosmic knowledge. Perhaps I need to have a contest for this new genre, right?
Thank you for the interviewing me. Any time, Shawna!

Just a reminder that during the course of the Virtual Book Tour, Twist of Fate will be available for only $0.99.
Shawna will be awarding the winner's choice of:
1) a $50.00 Amazon Gift certificate. 2) a half hour psychic reading of your choice of readers. (up to $60.00) 3) a $50.00 Starbucks gift card.

Blurb
Shawna grew up with a secret that she couldn't share with anyone. She thought of it as her "inner demon" and it shaped her life. When she became an adult, it sent her on a quest to try to find her Real Home. In Paris, she fell in love with a fellow traveler who changed her life, for better or worse. Their relationship was full of discovery and of lessons learned.

How could she come to terms with her "inner demon"? Can we change our fate or karma? Does love really conquer all?
This book is based on a true story of an independent woman's search for her true self and the meaning of life, and how she found answers in unexpected places

Excerpt:

I meditated in my Paris apartment the day before leaving for London.
Hurricane John had picked me up and tossed me around high in the air, and then pounded me on the sand. Like my aunt’s tea cup, I broke into pieces and lay at the bottom of the ocean. I wished sharks would eat me, but none came. But there was a gentle manatee that floated by and pushed all of my pieces together with her nose. Slowly, I became whole again. I found a shield and an arrow lying on the ocean floor, and quickly picked them up. I climbed on top of the manatee, and she easily carried me to the surface. I walked out of the water with my treasures and lay in the warm sun letting it heal my wounds. I closed my eyes for a time.
When I opened them an eagle was hovering above me, staring at me. I realized its message of freedom and strength, and soaring to new heights. I would be happy with or without John. I really did not need him. I never did. A connection to the divine was at hand and I needed to prepare. Change would be coming, and I welcomed it with open arms.
London. Home again. I felt like I could breathe once more. My new life had begun and I waited for the stirrings of new growth to move me onward and upward. No more going backwards ever again, I swore to myself.
I moved in with Trina. We became friends when I worked in London. A successful lawyer with room to spare for a lost American gal. But not for long, I hoped.

Review #Longmire season 2

Season 2 picks up right where season 1 left off. I enjoyed that right off, because it meant that the cliffs from the first season hadn't been ignored, stretched to fit the break, or neatly tied up off screen. Also, the subplots from the first season grew, they're more elaborate and intriguing.

Characters now intermingle that from season 1, I didn't expect to intermingle and with quite interesting results! It's hard to write this without any spoilers, but let me say this: For me, season 2 was even better than season 1. The stories were tighter and since I was already familiar with the characters, everything had a deeper, more intriguing twist.

There's just so much going on, and while season 2 had 13 instead of 10 episodes, I really wanted it to keep going. But on the other hand, I enjoyed the shortened season because it didn't have those filler episodes, all the episodes were cohesive to the entire season and characters' arc.

Make sure you don't miss an episode, it all overlaps to create a compelling show that really is can't miss!

Longmire is based on a series of contemporary western mysteries by Craig Johnson. Season 3 starts this past Monday, June 3, at 10p.m. EST on A and E.

Review #Longmire season 1

Longmire is not your average crime of the week drama. There's nothing average about it! It doesn't take place in a big city, but in the off the beaten track (fictional) Wyoming county, Absaroka (pronounced ab-suh-ro-ka).

Not only does Longmire give us a glimpse of small town life that could almost hark back to the 1800s, except with cell phones and except for Walt Longmire who refuses to use one, but it also shows us that if you live in a remote town in Wyoming or the heart of Manhattan, bad guys are everywhere.

Longmire offers interesting and unique characters far from the ordinary fare. Longmire himself is a leathery old-town sheriff set in his ways, but he has incredible depth, insight, and compassion with his work. Flawed and very human, he is.

Two of his deputies, Branch and Vic, are opposites but bring their own unique perspectives to the show. Vic is a transplanted Philadelphia cop who does not want to be in Wyoming, but the gas company her husband works for transferred him. Branch is the rich local boy turned sheriff's deputy still looking for his own path.

Season 1 is full of mysteries and what I loved most about this is other than the mystery-of-the-week, there's an ongoing one involving Walt's dead wife. Walt's best friend, Henry Standing Bear, has his own secrets about the wife's death, but since season 1 is only 10 episodes, not much is revealed.

I loved that about Longmire, because they didn't drag out this mystery, but the clues kept me coming back for more. Other than the deputies, the secondary cast is outstanding. Everyone has their own quirks, their own lives, their own flaws. It makes for a very believable world and very believable stories.

I highly recommend Longmire season 1.

Longmire is based on a series of contemporary western mysteries by Craig Johnson. Season 3 starts Monday June 3 at 10p.m. EST on A&E.

#Interview with Suzanne Sweeny and her series The Running Series

Suzanne Sweeney is a graduate of Georgian Court University where she studied Elementary Education and Sociology. For some time now, she has been sharing her love of literature with the young minds who sit before her in class each and every day. After years of teaching the art of writing, Suzanne has finally taken her own advice and put pen to paper in order to produce her debut novel, Running Back to You. She writes what she lives, residing in the community she loves, Point Pleasant, with her family who provide a constant source of inspiration and support.

Blog Facebook GoodReads
At any given time do you work on only one story at a time and maybe plot out the next one or are there many ideas racing around your head? All of the above.  I try to focus on one story at a time, but sometimes ideas just "pop" in completely uninvited.  When that happens, I have to immediately stop what I'm doing and write it down.  I have pages and pages of typed notes that I refer to constantly.  When one book is done, I copy all the unused ideas and start a new list for my next project.  Right now, I have a list of names for my next series, a potential title, and I know how and where the two main characters will meet.  Is there a genre you haven't written in but would like to? Or wish you could write in? I'm completely envious of the authors who create alternate worlds in dystopian fiction and sci-fi.  I love to read books like the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Divergent by Veronica Roth, and the Premonition Books by Amy Bartol.  I also enjoy books that are rooted in science fact, like Michael Crichton.  Whenever I read one of his books, I walk away feeling like I learned something.  Recently, I discovered a series of books by Michael Scott about Nicholas Flamel, which is science fiction, alternate reality, and historical fiction all rolled into one -OMG!  If I could write a book that transfers the reader to another place and time, change all the rules of nature, and keep them entertained, I'd be a very proud author, indeed!Do you add an element of romantic suspense in your stories?YES!  That's the genre I'm most comfortable writing.  Each of the books in The Running Series (Running Back to You, Running Home to You, and soon-to-be released Running Away With You) have an element of suspense that (hopefully) keeps the reader guessing right up until the end.Say you have unlimited funds: What kind of writing office/cottage would you create for yourself? Great question - I've never thought about that before now.  Money has ALWAYS    been an issue for me.  I worked for a short while in someone's home office receiving phone calls from teachers and finding them substitute teachers.  The office was on a river and my day would start at 4:30 in the morning, so I would get to watch the sunrise on the water.  It was relaxing and thrilling at the same time.  Winter, summer, and fall, all had different views and unique beauties to enjoy and marvel.  If money really were not an object, I would recreate that, but move it from a river view, to an ocean front view.  There would be a large screen TV, built in stereo with an iPod dock, and a margarita or Pina Colada machine. If you could turn your novel into a TV show, which novel or series would you do? Where would it be set? Network TV (ABC, NBC, CBS), Cable (AMC, BBC, Lifetime) or Premium Cable (HBO, Showtime, Starz)? The Running Series books would make great movies for Premium Cable, so I guess I'd have to start with HBO.  There are some NC-17 moments woven into the plot, so that would eliminate network and cable TV.  However, those scenes are carefully written and could easily be tamed down to PG or PG-13, which would open up conversations with channels like Lifetime.  Finally, tell us about your latest release!Running Back to You is my debut novel.  It's my first foray into the world of writing.  I've taken bits and pieces of my life, my friends, my family, and my community and added some fantasy to come up with a story rich with romance, humor, and suspense.  I hope the readers enjoy reading the books as much as I've enjoyed writing them.  I'm currently writing the third and final book in the series, and I'm a little sad to see my friends go.  They've been a major part of my life for quite some time now.  Maybe they will have to make appearances in my next books!

Running Home to You excerpt from Chapter 2:  Made in the Shade
When I step into the living room, I find Evan sitting on the couch with the playbook in his lap, listening to Queen’s Greatest Hits.  The music is so loud and his concentration is so deep that he doesn’t even hear me enter.  I don’t mind, really.  It gives me a chance to appreciate the beautiful man that can still make my heart skip a beat.  It’s not his perfection that appeals to me the most, it’s the small imperfections that I’ve come to know and love.  The unshaved whiskers on his face that tell me he’s been too busy to shave.  The messy, unkempt hair that suggests he hasn’t left the house since his shower.  The slightly crooked angle of his nose from being broken one too many times on the football field.  The bare feet propped up on the table tapping away, keeping beat with the music.  Those are the things about him that I adore.
A smile slowly etches itself on his face, and I know he’s acutely aware of me watching him.  When we are in the same room, even after all these months, there is still a tension that fills the air and has a profound effect on both of us.  He shuts the book and closes the distance between us in three long strides.  He sweeps me up into his arms and kisses me long and hard.  When he finally releases me, I can hardly stand straight.
“Wow!  What was that for, chief?”  I’m not complaining, of course, but I am curious.
“Guess who was at the training center today, Juliette.”  His eyes are sparkling with such joy and excitement.
“Um, let’s see.  Was it Jeff Probst asking you to be on the next season of Survivor?” I tease.
“No, but that would be pretty cool,” he admits.  “Guess again.”
“Gee, I was pretty sure about my first guess.  Could it be NASCAR calling to offer you a spot on the circuit this year?”
“No, but again, that sounds great, too.  Should I just tell you?  Because frankly, you’re not even close.”
I nod and add, “You definitely need to tell me or we could be here all day.”
“Dr. Geiselman drove all the way down to the training center to meet with the team physicians and they all agreed – I can start weight lifting immediately, a whole week early.  If everything goes well, that means I might be able to start practicing with the team soon, too.”  He can hardly contain his elation.
“Oh, sweetheart, that’s incredible.  You worked so hard, I could tell you’re doing so much better than anyone expected.”  I wrap my arms around his waist and lay my head on his chest.  Evan takes a deep breath, and I can tell a weight has been lifted from his shoulders.

DEMON OF ENVY is the fifth novella in the GODS OF LOVE series, but each story is designed as a stand-alone with the Greek gods of desire as a common theme. The series can be read in any order.

"You want me to walk through the fires of Hell to save you? Phthonos, you ask too much."

"Not to save me, Olivia. To save yourself." The dark tone of his correction shivered down her spine in a sensation that was equal parts fear and desire. She knew this was a dream; had relived the sleep-induced fiction every night this week. She needed to wake up before the bit where he started to burn, where she reached toward him and…oh God, the flames were consuming him already. It was too fast, too powerful…his beautiful face twisted in pain, the clear green eyes flashing desperation as he stretched out a clutching hand…she leaned in, connected with his fingers, and the greedy flames engulfed her too…

For the sixth time that week Liv sat bolt upright in bed, the scream still lodged in her throat and the bedcovers in a twisted mess around her legs. Sweat coated her body. Not the heady exotic scent of post-coital perspiration, either. No. This was the sharp acrid scent of sheer terror, of illness. Of something wrong at her core.

She reached for the brown hair tie on her wrist and snapped it. Once. Twice. A third time. Count to three, then snap again, over and over, the rhythm so familiar by now she didn't need to think. Gradually her heart stopped its uncomfortable thumping and her breathing began to even out. The anxiety attack was receding.

One last snap of the wrist band, the one for luck that she always had to finish with, and she was back in control once again. A swift kick with her left foot removed the sheet and she climbed wearily out of bed before turning back to straighten the tangled covers. Phthonos. Whoever the heck you are, whichever little piece of my imagination that you sprang from, you need to let me get some sleep, hon.
