Tour for The Eyes Die Last by @TeriLRiggs

After her daughters had the nerve to actually grow up and leave home, Teri discovered she had a passion for writing and jumped right in. It came as no surprise she chose to write mysteries and happily-ever-after’s since that’s the genres she loves to read.
Teri lives in Marietta, Georgia with her husband, one of her daughters and two dogs that seem to think they rule the world. And some days Teri thinks maybe they do.
Teri still frequently tells herself stories as she falls asleep. The only difference now is she wakes up the next morning and turns her bedtime stories into books.FacebookTwitterGoodreads

The Las Vegas Mayoral race is heating up, and the incumbent doesn’t have a prayer. Wealthy real estate speculator Nick Campenelli, who wants to legalize prostitution in Clark County, and former pastor Louis St. Louis, running on a 'clean-up-Vegas-by-getting-rid-of-the-whores' platform, are the front runners.

The killer is a man with a mission. He stalks the women before he kills them, leaving a “BEFORE” photo on their bodies, and sending an “AFTER” shot to the local news hound. Ed Hershey, an aging newscaster with just the right amount of grey in his hair, is determined to turn this story into a network gig, and his interference, along with the LVTVS legal team, are making Kennedy and Wilder look bad. Campenelli’s good looks and charm, and St. Louis’ vitriolic hatred of prostitutes are muddying the waters too, and now the killer seems to have taken a liking to Kennedy.
So the big question remains. Can she get him before he gets her?
Where to Buy: Amazon
Excerpt: Leaving the downtown area, Wilder and Kennedy drove past the now defunct Pioneer Club with the ever smiling, famous Vegas Vic sign sitting high on its perch. At one time, the forty-foot-tall neon cowboy had greeted visitors with a waving arm and a moving cigarette that blew smoke rings.
“Kenny, check out Vegas Vic. He’s winking at you.”
“What the hell are you talking about, Wilder? It’s a damn sign.”
“I’m just screwing around. You really need to lighten up some.”
Kennedy refused to respond.
“When I talked to Sparky and Lenny, they said you were still at Metro when they came in this morning.”
“And your point is?”
“You should have gone home and gotten some rest. Like a normal person.”
“I did go home. I slept and I showered. I am a normal person.” One that has a few issues, but hey, who doesn’t?
“Did you update your home murder board and spend hours studying it?”
She cringed. Her partner knew her too well. “I may have looked it over once or twice. But, I didn’t spend hours on it, not that it’s any of your business.”
“You need to have a life outside the job. Hell, even Vegas Vic has a girlfriend and he’s a damn neon sign. When’s the last time you even had a date?”
She looked out the window at the neon cowboy, then at the neon cowgirl sign on top of the Glitter Gulch topless club, and back at Wilder.
“Vegas Vicky? Give me a break, here.”
“Oh yeah, Vegas Vicky. What a neon babe.” His voice deepened, almost to a whisper. Then Wilder had the balls to wink at her. “I dig her cowgirl boots.”
“You’re sick, Wilder.”
He glanced sideways at her.
“Keep your eyes on the road.” She hadn’t meant to snap.
“What are you so sour about, Kenny?” He laughed. “You just realizing a freaking neon babe has a boyfriend and you don’t?”
She couldn’t hide the smile that tugged at her mouth and had to look away before he saw. “Wilder, this conversation is so over.”
“Look on the bright side.” She faced him again, just in time to see his wicked
smile.
“There’s a bright side?”
“Oh, yeah.” He winked at her. “At least you don’t have to worry about some other neon babe shining your guy’s bulbs.”
“Like I said, Wilder, you’re one sick puppy.”

#Blast Four-Leaf Clover by Charmaine Ross

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Charmaine will be awarding a copy of the book to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.
A sexy, sugar-laden David vs Goliath story about a local bakery, a national chain, and what really matters.
Clover Loveday has worked hard to get her café Four-Leaf Clover up and running, her ticket out of an increasingly alarming financial situation and her dream come true. When she literally falls off her ladder into the arms of national bakery chain Upper Crust owner, sexy-as-sin Liam Sinclair, who owns the new bakery being built just across the road, she decides that no matter how nauseated she is about the idea, it is best keep your enemy close, rather than leave things to fate.
Liam has never put too much thought into the competition when he opens a new outlet, other than taking their customers and strengthening the Upper Crust brand. But here in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, Clover Loveday’s cafe is a little too close for comfort, and Clover Loveday a little too good-looking. So Liam asks his PA to put together a Fact Sheet about his new competition. He has a business to run, a father to please, and hundreds of people to keep in jobs. Surely information can keep an unwanted strong sexual pull at bay…
A sexy, caffeinated, satisfying story about unexpected temptations, forgiveness, and putting love before money.
Enjoy an excerpt:
She could barely recognise the sound that escaped her mouth as hers. It was a sound from the back of her throat. Breathy and gravelly and potently full of wanton desire. But this was what she felt. This was what she wanted. Sensation raced through her body and pooled between her thighs.
She relaxed her legs, unable to retain any strength in them. The slow build of passion now quickly firing to a feverish need that demanded to be eased. A tremor of hunger raced through her as his hand rested on her thigh.
His fingers slipped beneath her hem, rising ever so slowly up her leg. She relaxed her legs, opening them enough for him, inviting him to touch her, appease her. Her body trembled, never having felt so alive as it did now.
His hand brushed her intimacy. She cried out, jerking at his first wonderful touch. The pad of his thumb traced the curve of her body and soon she was panting, skin heated with perspiration, heady with a blinding need, her underwear now a too-thick barrier.
His mouth left her breast. She cracked open hazy eyes to see him above her, watching her with savage hunger in his eyes. ‘I want you.’ His voice was rough and low and set her insides tumbling.
She sat, fingers working at his shirt. Her fingers trembled too much to undo the last buttons, so she slipped them inside the material, his heated skin scorching hers. Her fingers found his shoulders, caressing, probing, laving attention to the dips and undulations of skin above rock solid muscle.
He lifted his shirt over his head, throwing it to the floor and her fingers went immediately back to their ministrations. She saw his jaw clenching and unclenching and she wondered at the control it took for him to sit there and let her explore.
Her fingers slipped beneath the waist of his pants, his erection clearly evident, pushing against the material. His eyes closed and he tipped his head back as she slid her fingers over his groin, rubbing the tip of his penis through the material. She undid his belt, then the top button at the waist. His hand clenched around her wrist, and she looked up at him, their gazes locked.
There was a sheen of perspiration on his face, his features strained and serious, but she was drawn to the fierce burning in their depths. ‘I won’t go on until I know you want me too.’
‘Yes. Go on! God, I want you to go on.’

#BookBlast Kiss Me by Moonlight by Michele Zurlo @MZurloAuthor

1. At any given time do you work on only one story at a time and maybe plot out the next one or are there many ideas racing around your head?
Michele: Stories are always racing around in my head. Sometimes it’s hard to finish one project because the other one is tapping me on the shoulder saying, “Wouldn’t it be cool if?” and “I don’t know what my name is yet, but my tenant is really hot.” If it gets too bad, I have to take a break and jot down ideas or a general outline. Sometimes I don’t put down enough details, and then when I go back to look at my notes, I have no idea what I’ve written. Some stories pop up again and again, so I tend to choose those projects next.
2. Is there a genre you haven't written in but would like to? Or wish you could write in?
Michele: I’ve never limited myself in anything. It cuts out too many possibilities and makes you miss out on stuff. I love contemporary, BDSM, new adult, and paranormal, and so I’ve written in every one of those genres. I haven’t tried science fiction, but I’m not sure I want to. Whenever I’ve tried to brainstorm stories in that genre, they haven’t ended up keeping my attention. I’ll leave it to other writers, as I do love reading science fiction.
3. Do you add an element of romantic suspense in your stories?
Michele: My Doms of the FBI series is romantic suspense. Re/Bound and Re/Paired feature dominant FBI agents embroiled in cases where life and love is on the line. Kiss Me By Moonlight isn’t suspenseful—unless you’re going to wonder how Lacey’s next lie is going to derail her life.
4. Say you have unlimited funds: What kind of writing office/cottage would you create for yourself?
Michele: It would need to be somewhere peaceful, green, and warm. I’d want water and a private beach nearby. The actual cottage wouldn’t have to be large because the weather would always be wonderful and the insects would observe an invisible boundary between them and me. I’d need a kitchen that makes meals on demand. It would be voice-controlled and self-cleaning. The bathroom would need to be one of those high-budget deals where it has everything you never knew you needed in a bathroom, like a lounge and white, billowing curtains. It should open up to an infinity pool that overlooks the beach. It would be beautifully landscaped with awesome patio furniture so I could write outside. And brownies would clean everything. I would never mention them to anybody, because then they’d stop.
5. If you could turn your novel into a TV show, which novel or series would you do? Where would it be set? Network TV (ABC, NBC, CBS), Cable (AMC, BBC, Lifetime) or Premium Cable (HBO, Showtime, Starz)?
Michele: The Kiss Me Series would make an awesome series. It has love, friendship, and great musical numbers. I wouldn’t care which station picked it up, though if they were on BBC, then the actors would all have cool accents. But then the setting would no longer be in Michigan. I’d be willing to entertain certain changes, especially if we could have guest appearances by anyone who has ever been in Doctor Who. (Are you reading this, Alex Kingston? You’d be perfect for Lacey’s mom.)
6. Finally, tell us about your latest release!
Hey there. It’s Lacey again. Falling in love and landing Dylan hasn’t been the panacea I thought it would be. For starters, he moved into my apartment without asking, and he continues to have no respect for my need to have things in sets of six. Pile that on top of my emotional upheaval after losing my stepfather, and you have a recipe for disaster no amount of German chocolate cake can cure.
Yes, Lacey Hallem’s life remains fraught with challenge, but you know she’s a fighter. Forming a talent management agency with her best friends has been the best career move she’s ever made—even if it’s the only thing currently working according to plan. Lacey’s OCD is getting the better of her, and this time her hands aren’t the only casualty. When her lies ruin her relationships with both Kiss Me Goodnight and Dylan, she’s forced to confront her demons in ways she’s never had to before. As she once again faces her past, can she learn once and for all to let love and friendship through the barriers she’s built?
Both harrowing and hilarious, this conclusion to the tale of Lacey and Dylan will leave you laughing, crying, and fanning yourself—sometimes all at once. Michele Zurlo triumphs again in this moving story about life’s quirks and what we all have to do to get by.
Where to Buy: AmazonExcerpt:

I glanced at him, surprised he’d ask for me to lie. “I’m sorry?”
“That’s not going to cut it.”
“I’m not sorry I said it. I’m sorry I hurt your feelings, but you know how I feel about that song.” I turned into the parking lot and found the space designated for my apartment.
“You called me a manwhore, Lacey.” His entire life, he’d slept with two women, one of whom had been his late wife. “That’s not the image we’re trying to project. We want fans to focus on our music, not our imagined bedroom antics.”
I got out of the car. This was another “discussion” Dylan wanted to have. You know what I’m spoiling for? An all-out fight. A lot of pent-up frustration and anger mixed with residual hurt and grief inside me, and that much emotion is going to demand an outlet if I don’t provide one.
On the plus side, the fact that I want to argue, scream, and yell boded well for the conditions of my hands. Perhaps that’s why Dylan listed those options earlier. He knew what I’d wanted before I did. I kind of resent him for that. People you were mad at aren’t supposed to be right or accommodating. Dylan managed to be both. Manwhore.

Michele will be awarding a choice of signed paperback copy of Wanting Wilder, Mina’s Heart, Kiss Me Goodnight, or Kiss Me By Moonlight, and a $25 Amazon gift card to one randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. (US ONLY) a Rafflecopter giveaway

A win-win negotiation?
Truman "Tru" Jelinek's life is pretty much off the rails. With his professional hockey career on thin ice, and his personal life falling apart, he's ready to implement some serious changes. Helping Jenny Martin—the only girl he's ever loved—make her dreams a reality is a good place to start.
There's just one problem: Jenny doesn't want his help. She barely wants to speak to him. But Tru is prepared to negotiate a deal that even Jenny can't refuse. As trading favors turns into sharing passion, he has to face the truth that when it comes to Jenny, the game is far from over.

Excerpt: A familiar tickle between his shoulder blades alerted Tru to who his brother was smiling at. Though he knew it was a mistake, Tru couldn’t resist turning around.
Jenny.
His heart jerked in his chest, as it always did when he saw her. As it had since the first time he saw her, back in first grade.
Her smile, bright for his brother, faded when she noticed Tru. Her expression became cool and distant before she turned away pointedly.
Tru’s gaze lingered, despite his best intentions. She must have come straight from work; she wore a blue suit that matched her eyes. The above-the-knee skirt and coordinating blue spiked heels showed off her long, shapely legs.
His stomach twisted when a man approached Jenny and hugged her, before pulling out a chair for her. There was something familiar about the guy. Tru’s tension eased when he realized it was her boss, Harry Sturridge. Though Tru was annoyed with himself for caring who Jenny ate dinner with, he couldn’t help being relieved it wasn’t a teammate. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with that tonight.
Sturridge said something to make Jenny laugh. The husky sound seemed to reach out and caress Tru through the bustle and noise of the restaurant.
Shifting to ease the sudden tightness in his groin, he forced himself to look away and focus on his meal, slicing into his rib eye.
Surprised when Ike didn’t make his usual crack about the antagonism between him and Jenny, Tru looked up. Ike was staring at the television, where, based on the logo on the screen behind the commentators, a studio panel was discussing the Ice Cats.
“What’s up, bro?”
“I’m not sure.” Ike pulled his cell out of his pocket, tapped the screen and frowned.
Tru knew instantly it wasn’t good news.
Ike didn’t keep him in suspense. “The Scartellis just fired Phillip Hannah. They’ll announce a new general manager in the next few days.”
Tru’s appetite vanished. That was a bigger organizational shake-up than anyone had anticipated. “Max’s days must be numbered, too. A new GM always wants to bring in his own coach. That means changes throughout the roster—maybe even a total rebuild—and the easiest guys to get rid of are the unrestricted free agents.”
Tru pushed back his chair angrily. “That puts my neck firmly on the block.”
“Cool your jets. The team needs experienced players, even in rebuild mode.”
“They have plenty of veterans—you, Jake, Scotty Matthews, Ralinkov, Juergen. Hell, even guys like J.B., Mad Dog and Blake have Cup experience. I’m expendable.”
Ike couldn’t deny that. “The Cats won’t let you go for nothing. They’ll want something in return. On the upside, lots of decent teams need a skilled defenseman.”
“Great. Except I don’t want to move. I don’t want to start over with a new team, in a new town, with a new freaking system. I wanted to spend the summer making sure I was 100 percent fit for next season, not looking for somewhere to live.”
“Talk to Andy. That’s why you pay your agent the big bucks. Find out what it would take for them to re-sign you.”
“Right.” Tru stood and tossed some bills on the table. “Catch you later, bro.”
“You’re leaving good rib eye?”
“Yeah. But you won’t let it go to waste.”
Tru wound his way between the tables, heading toward the door. What a great year; first his love life, then the season and now his career going down the toilet.
Almost too late, he realized he couldn’t avoid passing Jenny’s table. He tried not to catch her eye. Unfortunately, as he walked behind her boss’s chair, their gazes clashed.
His pulse jumped. Heat seared through him.
For an instant, Tru thought he saw an answering fire in her turquoise depths, but it was extinguished immediately and replaced with ice. She averted her eyes abruptly and smiled softly at her dinner companion.
The sting of the virtual slap was as sharp as if her palm had connected with his cheek.
Tru continued without breaking his stride. Her laugh scraped his raw nerves like a whetstone on a steel skate blade.
Jenny’s reaction toward him was the one thing he could rely on right now. Wasn’t that a sorry state of affairs? He pulled out his cell and called his agent, desperately hoping there was something Andy could do to keep him with the Cats. Unfortunately, Tru’s gut told him the chances of a miracle save had just skated out of town with his GM.
Anna will award a $15 Amazon GC to one randomly drawn winner via Rafflecopter, as well as 3 signed copies of A Perfect Trade, 3 exclusive A Perfect Trade notebooks and 4 exclusive A Perfect Trade key rings to other randomly drawn winners (international giveaway).

Review @HouseofCards season 1

I didn't see the British version, only the Kevin Spacy version, but I was blown away in the first 3 minutes. Francis "Frank" Underwood is a master political manipulator, the Democratic Majority Whip. Actually he's a master manipulator. Period.
We begin with the election of a new president, very clearly with Frank's help; Frank even helped the President's Chief of Staff get appointed. Frank expects to be appointed Secretary of State as his reward for all his help to the new president. The president has other plans. At the ninth hour, before Frank believes his appointment is to be announced, Frank learns the president needs him in congress and won't be extending the Secretary of State chair appointment to him.
This is important to the rest of the season and into season 2. Actually, these are the events that drive the entirety of House of Cards. Frank wants revenge for being slighted. He doesn't take kindly to broken promises. But when Frank gets even, it's a blood sport.
House of Cards is a smart, tight, gripping political thriller that takes you on a ride with twists and turns you'd never expect. Just when you think all is lost, Frank Underwood, or as the cufflinks that are gifted to him by a trusted Secret Service agent show, FU pulls not just a rabbit, but an elephant out of his hat.
5 stars. Definitely.

Interview with @AngelasWriter for Final Mend
Today's guest is Angela Smith!
Who or what was the inspiration for the hero and heroine in your book?I don’t really recall an actual inspiration for these characters, although certain traits of theirs or events in the story were inspired by certain family, people I know, or news events.
Besides your main characters, do you secretly have a soft spot for another character?I have a soft spot for Amy, the child in this story.
What is your favorite quote from the book?Oh my, that’s a hard question. I think I’d have to choose something Jake says if only because I feel it was the beginning of Winona’s reemergence out of her grief and into her true character. He said: “Apparently they don’t think you should be. They both said if I wanted to find Amy, you were my best bet.”
What's your weirdest writing habit?I don’t really have writing habits that I consider weird. I can write in any form or any place with or without music, with or without light or doors. I don’t have to have things a certain way and the house can be clean or dirty. I just try to make a habit of getting pen to paper every day.
How often do you cry while writing?I’ve never cried while writing, although finishing the trailer of this particular book almost brought tears to my eyes.
What's your favorite comfort read?I turn to scripture for comfort when I need it, because there’s so much action, adventure, and romance involved!
What is the one thing in your book you wouldn’t have given up no matter how much money someone paid you?Amy. It wouldn’t have been the same without Amy.
Did you write yourself into any corners?I find myself writing myself into corners often! The joy of a panster!
What kind of research did you do for this book?Whew, not sure I’d remember all the research I did for this book. I did so much research I often had to look back over and double check my research. This story was actually written a couple of years before it was published, but I researched triathlons, private investigations, traveling the areas they traveled and many more. I love research and can get caught up in that and never write the book if I allow myself.
Any advice for aspiring authors?Write what you love, what speaks to you, and what you enjoy reading. Don’t ever give up and don’t waste your time on projects better spent writing (how clean can your house get, anyway? Oh, the books I could have written if I hadn’t been wasting my time and being too tired from my full-time job or just being too scared and down on myself!) Remember that doubt goes with the territory, so don’t let it win. And mostly … read … a lot!
About the BookA recovering alcoholic, Jake Inman has found a new, healthier addiction: training for his successful triathlon career. But when his manager is murdered and beloved goddaughter kidnapped, another obsession takes hold: doing whatever it takes to find Brandon’s killer and keep Amy safe. Jake turns to a private investigator for help in solving the case, and though he finds temptation in her whiskey-colored eyes, he knows he must resist his attraction, or risk losing his heart. After a devastating case, Winona Wall has turned her back on her skills as a private investigator, preferring a quiet life as a part-time bartender. That is, until Jake storms into the bar, demanding her help in tracking his missing godchild. Unable to resist Jake’s charm, she reluctantly agrees. But even after Amy is found unharmed, Jake insists Amy’s mother was more involved with her kidnapping than the police suspect. When the situation takes a turn for the worse, Winona must trust her instincts in order to save them all - and avoid falling in love.Where to Buy: Amazon Goodreads Book Trailer
About the Author

Ever since then, she hasn't stopped reading or writing. A certified paralegal, work gives her perfect fodder for her romantic suspense stories. When not caring for her small farm or spending time with her husband of two decades, she enjoys creating, reading, and dreaming of the places she’ll visit one day.

Now enjoy an excerpt:
John Takahashi, also called Ice in the more deadly corners of the world, watched from the shadows as the woman slid into her Nissan Altima. He wanted to be certain she safely reached her car.
His hands tightened on the steering wheel.
A burly fellow strolled by Lena’s car and continued to the next lane without glancing her way. John’s hold eased up. If the man had attempted to attack her, bloody fat limbs would be scattered across the parking lot within seconds. He’d never allow anyone to harm her. Hell, if the man only spoke to her, John was unsure of his reaction. He’d never felt this way before. Possessiveness wasn’t his usual response. He only knew she belonged to him.
From the first moment he saw her five weeks ago, intently watching him from the coffee shop, he’d decided to meet her. Her contradicting shyness and boldness amused him. The two times he’d allowed her to see him watching her, she’d looked away, blushing. He liked that. From the way she walked and held herself, he suspected she was a woman used to taking orders from a man. After being with so many women with that certain need, he had a sixth sense about such matters.
His contacts reported that her husband had died three years earlier. She wasn’t a flirt and hadn’t dated during that period. She dressed stylishly but modestly. Her hours were spent working in her house and in the flower beds surrounding her home. Occasionally, she had lunch with friends and attended charity functions, but nothing more.
Of course, their time in the coffee shop had been a test. If she’d been too timid or too bold, their time together would have ended without a dinner invitation. He wanted a woman willing to take commands but strong enough to demand what she needed in return.

Carla Swafford is a lithe twenty-nine year old with long auburn hair and sparkling dark eyes who loves dancing with her gypsy friends. Geez! Can you tell I love writing fiction? Now for the real stuff: I'm married to my high school sweetheart and live in Alabama. I swear my stories are more exciting.
