Dan Brown writing habits: starts at 4 a.m., likes gravity boots

DanBrown

While looking for info about whether Dan Brown had any interesting rejection stories (I didn’t find any), I came across this interview by Claire White about Dan Brown’s first book, Digital Fortress.

Brown said it took 18 months to write this debut title, which was published in 1998. He said the toughest part about writing it was was believing in the story even when things were going badly…“forcing myself to spend 5-8 hours a day on the manuscript even when I wasn’t positive I could make it work.

Ray Bradbury: 800 rejections before first story sale

RayBradburyRay Bradbury says he received at least 1000 rejections during his writing career, and he’s still getting rejections. Bradbury submitted more than 800 manuscripts before he made his first sale.

Since then, he has written more than five hundred published works — short stories, novels, plays, screenplays, television scripts, and verse, and was awarded the National Book Foundation’s 2000 Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, an the National Medal of Arts in 2004.

Morning Coffee

CoffeeCupFor the record, I actually am starting to drink coffee in the morning. Hubby’s fault – he bought a Tassimo. In the beginning, I drank coffee just because it was fun to use the machine. Now I drink it because I like it. Hopefully I won’t reach the point where I’ll need it. To you coffee drinkers: is one cup a day reasonable? But back to writerstuff…

I loveLOVE this blog. Its tagline: “The straight dope on publishing from publishing’s most fearsome figure—THE INTERN.” I would so read anything this
