Kevin Booth pens contemporary and LGBT-themed fiction, often about Barcelona and its history, such as his first novel, Celia’s Room. He also writes about the city’s art and architecture in the BCN Free Art guides. Writing as K. Eastkott he created a non-Eurocentric ocean fantasy world, where he explores environmentally focussed themes, Seeking the Jewel Fish. Having lived primarily in Barcelona since 1988, he combines writing with work as a translator and editor. More info: www.kevinboothart.com ...more

I challenge myself to use my non-dominant hand to write with (i.e. I'm left-handed so I use my right hand) and to turn the page so that I am writing across the lines instead of following them.

Through this process I am literally forcing myself to write "outside the box", I am freeing up my creativity and removing the pressure to write well. Generally after a few minutes of this, the juices start to flow again and I can transfer what I have on paper onto the computer. (less)
