March is here!

Summer is over and COVID-19 is multiplying

A new month has arrived and with it the unsure nature of the global world with the rapid spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has families worried. Do we stock up on shelf life foods? Maybe…but can you physically afford the costs of extra food in your shopping trolley.
As for I…I have my shopping home delivered. Being out in the country, it is more economical for me that way. Basically it saves the running costs of my car. Plus it allows me more time to write and design. With certain items, as in fresh food, I find some weeks I have to order two instead of one. As far too many times, certain items are not always available each week – out of stock or if one weeks shop happens to be bigger than normal, then I might be able to stretch everything out and skip a week for ordering. But in doing this now and far too many people have started to panic shop – many items are beginning to run out. Lucky for us here in Australia, our toilet paper is made here, so if people back off from over purchasing, then the shops will be able to have a steady supply of toilet paper for everyone.
Apart from that, please remember to wash your hands thoroughly, sneeze or cough into your arm/elbow. If you feel as if you are coming down sick, keep away from other people and stay at home. Have yourself tested. It is better to be safe than make other’s sick. Some of those people have a higher chance of not surviving. Please keep that in mind.

Now back to writing news!

It is not long now until the ARRA — A Romantic Rendezvous, a book-signing event in Melbourne on 14th March, alongside authors like Darynda Jones, Susan Donovan, Tracey Pedersen, Anne Gracie, Michelle Sommers, Keri Arthur just to name a few.
Tickets are available at the door, so come on down to the Mantra Bell City, in Preston and come and see me and remember to wash your hands.

My ticket winner is delighted to win her ticket and cannot wait to attend the event. Congratulations Savannah.
Thank you to everyone who entered.

I am still busy writing and editing Kept in the dark of Lies and Deceit. And also, What You Know. I also have other books which want to make it out into the world and become known… (Please let me finish my other books first!)

How is this – as a wonderful review for my latest release – It’s You, from an Amazon reader!
I am so humble and overwhelmed with it. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
This is also why it is important to leave a review where you purchase books, to assist other readers make a decision in which books to purchase.

An Engaging, Fast Paced, First Person Paranormal – Harris and Harrison Fans check it out!
Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2020
“I’m a fan of the paranormal genre and there are several authors whose works I await with baited breath – or with paw and fang depending upon the phase of the moon. But my favorite authors can only produce so many books a year which sends me out looking for new talent and new voices. Tompsett is a new voice who takes a first person approach to the paranormal. This is not an easy approach to any story that has an ensemble cast and requires a level of skill that most authors cannot sustain. Which is why Tompsett’s work reminds me of Kim Harrison, a very accomplished first person paranormal author. I found Harrison (Dead Witch Walking) when I had tapped out all of my previous favorites. Having tapped out Harrison this series was a perfect pickup for me. Tompsett’s paranormal landscape is at once different, but familiar. The familiar are some of the generally accepted rules of paranormals and complex relationships. What is different is the way the universe is cast. What makes this a good choice for Harrison and even Harris fans is that it has the immediacy of the characters with language, context, and dialogue that takes you out of your world and into theirs. Having found the series at book 4 I was still drawn straight into the narrative – picture catching episode 6 of True Blood and totally getting it – which makes this series and this author a go to for paranormal fans.”

Oh, look at the time – It is cuppa time!
Have a good one, everybody and keep safe.

End of January is fast approaching

Hello everyone,

Can you believe it… The 30th January is here already!

I have had a few set backs, but I am taking steps forward to be back on track. All I can say, if you notice any form of pain in your body, do not palm it off and have the “I’ll be right” attitude. Life is far too short to compromise your health.

At the moment I am busy working on different clients ebook and now, also print book digital files. Even though I stay back and linger in the shadows, I nearly feel like a parent (feeling proud), once I see the completed product, knowing I assisted with the publishing birth of their book baby.

And then there is my own book babies. I only realised I had not updated my own book baby digital file. One of my ebooks, I have had to pull out the digital files and update them with the sneek peek (excerpt) of my latest book published.

With the end of the first month of the year nearly over, what have you planned for February?

Remember – always take the time to make a doctors appointment and have a full bloodwork done and your blood pressure. You should do this once a year. Have your body checked for moles and dark spots.
What might have been a little spot one day, might actually be a dangerous growth. It pays to be safe than sorry.

If you have not done so yet, make sure to grab the latest book and read to your contentment, with a cool glass of something yummy by your side.
Even one of my books, you might enjoy the journey of dark ones, shifters, witches and vampires, oh my.

How many of you are attempting to create your own manuscript? Are you having trouble piecing it together? Maybe debating if your should go ahead or not. If you do not try, how are you going to know?

Many years ago, now. I wanted to publish my own fiction book. So I managed to do a little research and learnt to publish my own book, my own print and also ebook. If you want something bad enough, you can do it. It is just a matter of taking the steps to make it happen.

Now, I write, create my own book covers and also not just for myself but other people – clients also, I create their digital files for their print and ebooks. So from learning to create my own book, I have learnt new skills and progressed to areas I would never have travelled to.

Writing has become a release on life. A way to escape. A way to express yourself. A way for your imagination to create a world and characters, only your can see, until your are ready to release them to the world.

Give writing a try, you never know where it might lead you.

Enjoy what is left of January and make sure to celebrate Australia Day, with friends and family.

Happy New Year!

Hello and Happy New Year, to everyone.

A new year has started, and I am back and slowly working on my two WIP’s with another two books wanting to be written also.

With Australia under threat with all these different bushfires, far too much of the country is burning. People and animals are dying, house and businesses are destroyed. So far not a great way to begin a new decade.

If you can help – here are two different websites to look over and leave a donation:-
https://www.vic.gov.au/bushfireappeal
https://www.communityenterprisefoundation.com.au/make-a-donation/bushfire-disaster-appeal/

Every little bit helps.

With the smoke haze blanketing over the country, please keep safe. Stay inside if your have any type of breathing issues. Being an asthmatic my lungs are feeling the tight squeeze of the excess smoke in the air.

Please keep safe.

Now back to working on my WIP.

Big hugs to you all.

Author spotlight: M L Tompsett – Author

My interview with Australian Romance Readers Association

3 JANUARY 2020by arrawebmaster

For ARR2020 in March we will be featuring more than 90 romance authors across five cities. If you live in (or near) Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth or Adelaide, come along and meet local authors, as well as our international guests—Darynda Jones and Susan Donovan.

Today we are spotlighting ML Tompsett. She will be attending ARR2020 in Melbourne.

How old were you when you first started writing romance?

About sixteen. My English teacher was proud I actually put my mind to something other than school work.

Who was the first romance author to catch your interest?

It was far too long ago now. But it was a Mills & Boon paperback.

Have you written genres other than romance (or are you thinking about it)?

My books cross over into the paranormal fantasy genre. So they also contain witches, shifters (both wolf and cat), vampires, Dark Ones and real people. One of next years’ books contains a little historical times element.

Choose one of your books to turn into a movie—who would you cast in the lead roles?

This is hard, I love all my book babies. I have two series at the moment so either one. Hmmm. A younger Kate Beckinsale to play Alexia, from Sex, Lies and Family Secrets series. And a younger Jessica Biel to play Misty, from Kept in the Dark of Love and Lust.

What is the hardest part of creating a story?

Even though I create fantasy, you still need to have some element of real life. So the reader can imagine the story or real time, in a real place.

What is your favourite place to write?

Either in the writing cave—my office overlooking the bay—or in my recliner with my feet up.

Have any of your characters been inspired by real-life people?

Not sure, but a song was behind the creation of The Guy Next Door, which led into the rest of the series.

What was the last romance you read and loved (and why did you love it)?

Hmmm. I have been lucky enough to be reading advance reader copies of books that have not been released yet. All I can say is, make sure to download, or purchase, books from …

Tell us about your latest release in 100 words or less

It’s You. From being predestined to be Queen of Darshia then betrothed to a prince in another Dark One kingdom Alley’s life has been turned upside down. With a small child to care for and a betrothed arriving for her engagement party, all seems lost—until a handsome ghost from her past arrives. Can a man she loved with all her heart save her? Is she destined to continue to live in a world of lies with the wrong man? The life of a princess is never easy … but Alley must survive at all costs with her daughter if she’s going to be the next Queen of Silver.

What else will you be working on in 2020?

I will be working on book five in the Sex, Lies and Family Secrets series. Hopefully completing book two—Kept in the Dark of Lies and Deceit. A new book, a stand-alone romance. And/or completed another book that blends into book three—You Never Know. This book’s main characters are mentioned in it. But this book was started before I had started You Never Know. There are a few new books on the back burner, waiting to see the light of day.

If you haven’t booked your ticket for ARR2020 yet, you can buy one HERE.

Make sure to come along and meet all the different talented attending authors.
