The Final Countdown – Retribution sample chapters, and a first listen of the Red Gambit audiobook

It's done.

Much like Frodo, I've carried my burden all the way to the brim of Mount Doom and cast it into the fire.

Except by "burden," I really just mean "fun, action-packed book." (We're talking about Retribution here, by the way.)

And I didn't really cast it into the fire. I just uploaded it to Amazon.

And I actually kinda had fun along the way.

Okay. So it was a bad metaphor.

Point is, the book is pretty much ready to roll. Bigger point is...

You can check out the first two chapters...

A first look at Retribution

Let's not dilly dally with the words and the things, friends.

Retribution is coming, after all. Which means I need to get my butt back to finishing it.

To that end, I'll emphatically point out that this is hardcore rough draft material. We're talking 40 grit sandpaper, folks. As rough as it gets.

Now, I don't think it's actually that bad (my drafts normally aren't), I just wanted to throw out the disclaimer BECAUSE I'M SCARED, GUYS!

Now let's take a look at this here story biscuit.

Red Gambit is FREE! And Hell to Pay isn’t far off, either.

I know I say things like, “The title says it all, folks!” all the time.

But seriously, book fans. I think it’s almost true today.

No reason to dilly-dally what with the words and the frenetic rambling.

For those of you who haven’t yet had the (hopeful) pleasure of reading it,

Red Gambit is FREE today!

Okay, technically, it’s free until Tuesday (Nov 21st… 2017 for anyone perusing my archives years in the future), but if you’re interested, you should just grab it now. Because, let’s be hones...

Retribution is coming

The scoop

Holy guacamole, guys, do I have lots of exciting stuff to tell you about Retribution, including (oops) that the fourth book of The Harvesters Series officially has a title. And a cover. And an unofficial soundtrack/theme song.

But more on that last one later.

For now…

Meet Book Four of The Harvesters Series – Retribution

“AGH!!” I can only imagine you’re ululating right now.

To which I say, firstly, yes—ululating is indeed a word.

And secondly, yes, that’s a mother f*cking space dr...

Bargain books never looked so good.

Hey, look! I’m alive!

It’s been a while, and I suppose I could prance and prattle and pedantically perfuse this page with my pleasant pontifications prior to plonking down the point of this post.

But, instead, how about I just nail some sweet alliteration and get to the point?

Point time it is, then . . . (*nailed it*)

Let’s not mince words here (or any more of them, at least). I’ve got some books to sell ya, and, this week only, you can pick ’em up for less than 2 measly dollars.

That’s righ...

Free Books for Free (and other less catchy updates)

Hello, friends! I come bearing joyous news. And some status update stuff too, but that can wait. Joyous news first.Free stuff (for FREE)I'll be honest, I've gone a bit giveaway crazy. In an effort to attract new readers, I've been trying multiple new things to see what works. But that part doesn't matter to you. What does matter is that you can win lots of sweet paperbacks and other prizes just by signing up for either (or both) of these contests.  You could enter to win o...

The Curious Case of the Non-blogging Blogger

Hi. Hey. Howdy.

Luke here. If you're reading this, you probably either know me or have read one of my books. If, on the other hand, you're one of the three people who read the first two blog posts on this site and kept eagerly coming back for more . . . Oh boy, are you probably pissed.

Yes, it's been a while. Nigh three or for months, I do believe (and could easily confirm if I was wont to do such things at the moment). I had intentions, nay, dreams—nay, delusions—to keep this blog u...

5 Storytelling Lessons Learned from Netflix’s ARQ

In my quest to become the greatest storyteller in the world (or at least in this basement), I've been spending a lot of time studying books, movies, and shows of all shapes and trying to learn me some lessons about what makes stories tick. Recently, I decided it might be of use (both to myself and to the three people reading this) to organize my thoughts and periodically write down the best chestnuts I've consciously picked up from my studies. Whether you're a storyteller yourself or someon...

The Helpers

A few weeks ago, I was at Camp Cranium (which is an awesome summer camp for children who've suffered brain injuries, strokes, and other neurological complications; you can check it out here if you have any interest in learning more or volunteering next year).

During the week, in light of the mass shooting in Orlando, our camp director said something that caught my attention. It was a quote from good ol' Mr. Rogers. To loosely paraphrase, the gist was something like: "When there is some kind...
