[SHORT STORY] – Ragnar the Wretched
Ashdautus Gruumsh vrasubatlat uk, Ragnar muttered into his half-empty mug, for no reason other than that the words felt at home on top of the pleasant fire of the black grog burning its way down his throat.
If only those words still rang true.
For half a second, he nearly gave into the feral urge to slam the mug down and throw the entire damn table at the two halfling pixies who hadnt stopped eying him since hed walked into this flower-blooded tavern what had it been, six drinks ago?
He hadnt...

[SHORT STORY] – Life Shopping Incorporated

LIFE SHOPPING INCORPORATED
A Short Story by Luke Mitchell
The thing about Life Shopping, mboy, says Jensen Wellsworth, clapping a meaty hand to his young charges shoulder and all but dragging him down the pristine hallway, is that it keeps you from sliding straight into the shit.
Jensen feels the young fellows wondrous stare and stifles a smile. No one ever expects their Shopping Mentor to be hip enough to cut loose with a swear. Frankly, no one ever expects Jensen to be...

First Look – The Eighth Excalibur
The post title says it all, my friends. Your first look at the new Excalibur Knights series is here!
I might have to post something from a little later in the story at some point to give you a taste of all the gratuitous alien invasion action to come, but for now, I hope you enjoy meeting the galaxy’s soon-to-be newest Excalibur Knight, Nathaniel Arturi.
Let’s get to it!
Chapter 1 – Man’s Best Friend“Come on, boy.”
Panting, Nate Arturi reached past the rust-red rain gutter and took hold of t...

I was bored.
That's the truth, Book Fan…
I was bored out of my effing mind—which seemed to have a kind of irony to it, seeing as I was studying brains at the time…
Allow me to explain.
The year was 2014, and I was floating through the first year of my neuroengineering PhD program. “Floating” being the key word there.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the science. I always will. Put me in a room with a professor ready to speculate about brain-machine interfaces, sensory processing, digital consciousness, and so f...

First Look – Children of Enochia
Hi there, friends!
I hope you enjoy this early first look at the third (and final) Enochian War book, Children of Enochia.
The book hits the shelves on May 28th, and I cannot WAIT to share the full story with you!
In the meantime, if you wanna save a few bucks, be sure to grab it on pre-order for $3.99 before I bump it up to $5.99 at launch.
(SIDE NOTE: For those of you who've already pre-ordered at full price, I'm sorry about the price flip-flop. I'll probably generally be following this new...

My 3 favorite kinds of stories (and 1 embarrassing confession)
We all have our reasons for reading, right?
It could be right at the baseline of "because I can."
It could be to escape reality.
Hell, it could even be "because only through refining my syntax and logic to the highest order may I one day transcend this fleshy cast of humanity and and take my place among the supreme robot overlords."
Whatever works for you, book fan. It's all good.
Point is, we're typically looking for something in particular when we pick up a book.
Unless you've already ascende...

Shadows of Divinity – first FOUR chapters, and preliminary cover art
Let’s not play games. I’ve got some chapters for you, and boy am I excited to share ’em!
NOTE: These chapters are unedited. There WILL be typos. Mistakes. Possibly even a missing sentence or two somewhere. Don’t worry, I’ll try to make sure this is all handled by the final draft!
OTHER NOTE: Seeing as we’re all ravenous fans of my work here (… right? Riiiight?), I thought you might enjoy joining the team and weighing in on the early cover artwork to help me decide which direction to...

Divinity – First Chapter Sampler
Hey there, book fans!
We all know I like to ramble (and am maybe even a bit pathologically incapable of NOT doing so)…
But holy scud buckets, am I excited to finally share a bit of this story with you!
So, without adieu, let’s get to it!
SHADOWS OF DIVINITY Chapter 1 – Apostate’s FollyFor ours is not to ask, but to serve.
That’s what they’d always told us, at least. Which is why I didn’t ask when I once again found myself hunkered down behind a slug-riddled skimmer, gritting...
