Headline News

Current headline news would have everyone believe that COVID-19 will decimate the population of planet earth. At this point in time, however, raw data does not support this claim, and data has come under close scrutiny since evidence has become public concerning the classification of deaths being due to COVIS-19 without proper testing. In some cases, COVID-19 has been stated as the cause of death contrary to the obvious such as heart attacks, COPD, etc.

Many news outlets are criticizing the opening of business, with precautions, even the same outlets cried foul when the stay at home orders was directed at citizens. Hypocrisy? Yes!

There is no doubt that COVID-19 rivals the severity of the flu, however, current reports cannot be factually compared since the flu is not a reportable infection in some states. What we know for sure is COVID-19 does not compare to the flu in the number of cases or deaths at this time, and most of the COVID-19 numbers are projected stats. Therefore, why the panic?

Frankly, the news media and many politicians conspired to create this atmosphere in order to increase the public’s dependency upon government agencies for rescue. The end result was counterproductive since it showed all the flaws in the government’s ability to meet all of these needs. Our current administration played catchup extremely well considering that previous pandemics were virtually ignored and China, the source of the virus, withheld information with the aid of the WHO.

This is a perfect example of playing politics with the health of the populace. Attaching other funding measures to a bill authorizing funds for the COVID-19 emergency is one such instance. Such bills should be stand-alone proposals ensuring that no obstruction can occur.

Speaking as a pharmacist with forty-two years of experience, there is no doubt in my mind that the entire COVID-19 panic is manufactured with the sole intent of destroying a presidency because impeachment did not work.

Disagree if you will, but it is a hard cold fact easily seen in the records being revealed as a result of the DOJ’s investigations.

Short Memories

The Lamb and the Lion Ministries posted and article entitled, “DOES GOD STILL SPEAK THROUGH SIGNS OF NATURE?” It addresses the increasing number of natural and man-made catastrophes plaguing the world today. It includes statistics to prove the frequency of calamities is indeed escalating. It even makes reference to the ‘global climate change’ movement, formally the ‘global warming hoax, that seems to be a mainstay of one particular political party.

It will be well worth your time to read the article, but the short of it plainly indicates that God continues to call us to repentance through the events that are happening. The Wuhan virus, also known as COVID-19, has given a clear indication how an untoward event in a foreign nation can effect the entire world economy and put a tremendous upon certain portions of the U.S. health care system. It also demonstrates how the offending nation can take advantage of the event to make tremendous profits by hoarding and profiteering on the health care equipment required by the countries in need.

Many citizens are determined to survive by hoarding and thus denying others simple household goods and participating in melees in order to acquire these commodities. Panic and selfishness are the order of the day.

COVID-19 is only one calamity, what about the floods, tornados, hurricanes, and earthquakes? Jesus said that the signs in the end times would be like “birth pangs” (Matthew 24:8), meaning they will increase in frequency and intensity. And that is what has been happening. Each day brings us closer to the return of Jesus Christ, but first the Rapture must occur. Those saved by faith in Jesus Christ around the world, will disappear in “twinkling of an eye.”

If the world repents and worships God, will that postpone the Apocalypse? God postponed the destruction of Nineveh when the inhabitants of the city listened to Jonah and repented of their sins. However, it is certain that God has His time-table in mind and it will occur when He decides.

It seems to be a consistent theme that communities that suffer a devistating event are able to forget just how horribly they ached afterward and return to their former way of life. It is apparent in cities and towns that survive hurricanes or earthquakes because home sales return to normal within a year or two.

Don’t live in the pain a suffering, but you shouldn’t forget the event either. Use the memory to encourage your dependance upon God for strength and direction.

Mean Spirited

As every one has seen, numerous people have made threats to infect other people with the COVID-19 virus while shopping and on social media. A young lady has been arrested and charged with making a terrorist threat and another was knocked to the ground by a department manager after he apparently spit on some produce. That was a lesson learned the hard way for the alleged spitter.

What is it that makes an individual consider this to be acceptable behavior or funny? The standard answer given is “I was just joking.” Some joke. Many people wondered if they had come in contact with the young lady and certainly some folks threw out produce they purchased just to be on the safe side. Again, why?

The reason is darker than a bad joke, the real reason is a darkness of one’s spirit. These ‘jokers’ get pleasure inducing fear in others and others just enjoy violating social norms such licking ice cream and returning it to the store freezer or spitting into bottles of soft drinks and placing them back on the shelf. Sadly, human nature has degraded to the level where some find pleasure and satisfaction from acts such as these.

There is only one solution, return to a moral, Godly world view and how each person fits into society. The U.S. Supreme Court kicked God out of schools and the public arena long ago. It’s time to return Him to the throne to which He is entitled.

Turning the Corner

For the first time since China first reported the Corona virus outbreak, way too late I might add, we had some really encouraging news this morning. New York is reporting fewer admissions than discharges and several drugs are being investigated and used to fight this insidious disease. Efforts are in high gear to develop a vaccine for any possible future outbreaks.

This self quarantine has been especially hard on a lot of individuals, even some suicides, but most folks are making it day by day maintaining their sense of humor and especially with prayer and their faith in the goodness of God.

There are still fear mongers out there crying gloom and doom and pointing the finger at our current administration and President trying to use this fearful event as a political weapon to garner more power. Don’t let them accomplish their goals. The liberal political groups are quick to blame and threaten destruction, but don’t offer up any alternative ideas for solving the problem. Some have intentionally blocked efforts to save our economy in order to achieve some political goal.

Other groups are passing judgement on Christian organization’s efforts to provide aid and comfort to the sick and dying. Where are the aid efforts that are provided by these accusatory groups. Take your time. That’s right, there aren’t any!

Not all efforts to treat the disease have been successful and the death toll is high, however, the death toll for the flu is even greater for the same time period. Let’s get this in perspective. It’s not the disease itself that has created so much havoc, it is the fear of the disease and the intransigence of the Chinese government in providing truthful statistics and information about the virus genome. That was a huge obstacle in our having a well reasoned response, politically, medically, and socially.

In conclusion, we are “flattening the curve” as so many spokes people are fond of saying, but now is not the time to ignore all of the safe practices we have used in public to control the spread of the Chinese Corona virus. Keep up the good work, think before you act, and only get out for the necessities.

God bless and keep our President and our medical workers as they continue the fight.

Plague or Warning?

Riding out the Wuhan Corona Virus pandemic is somewhat like riding out a hurricane. Inspire of the danger it is BORING! Staying at home is the pits, however, it protects and others that might be exposed if we happen to be carriers of the disease. So be of good cheer, your are helping by your lack of activity.

There are a couple of thoughts I would like to share, the first of which is the lack of information about the recovery rate of infected persons. We’ve all seen the infection numbers and the numbers of deceased for Corona, but why aren’t we shown more information concerning the actual numbers of people who recover from the disease. Perhaps the news outlets don’t consider that number to be sensational enough. It reminds me of the “Yellow Dog Press” we learned about in our history classes in high school. That was a long time ago for me. Be that as it may, during the administration of Teddy Rosevelt the press only printed the sensational and outrageous stories that scared people. I believe we have returned to that time with our current media outlets.

Also, social media is posting a story about a Harvard professor, a specialist in bacteriology and virology, who was paid by the Chinese to set up a research lab in Wuhan. Reportedly, he was paid large amounts of money and had two Chinese nationals working as his lab assistants. I haven’t seen any of this from recognized news services so the story’s veracity is open to debate. I will say this, during forty-two years as a pharmacist I have seen a lot of adulterated and miracle cure drugs come from China. (Does anyone remember ‘black pearls’ during the late 1970’s?) My opinion of Chinese products is highly suspicious, to say the least.

I believe one of the bleakest things I’ve seen is the hoarding by so many people. Jesus addressed this very thing:

2 Timothy 3 New International Version (NIV)

3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

That action is certainly being a lover of self. Does that mean we are in the last days, well we are certainly approaching them at the very least.

God warned the Jews to return to Him by using plagues, corruption and conquering armies to get their attention and I believe that is what He is doing to the entire earth. Wealth and fame haven’t help protect any of us. Just look around at the number of rich and famous people that have been infected and some have died. Warnings like this fall upon the righteous and unrighteous alike. Being a believer in Jesus Christ will not keep me from being infected or possibly becoming a death statistic, but if so I know Jesus has me covered for my eternal future.” To live is Christ, to die is gain,” as the apostle Paul wrote.

Don’t get caught up in the conspiracy theories, turn back to the maker and creator of all things, Jesus Christ, and ask Him to take care of your here and now as well as your eternal future.

Romans 10:9-13 NIV

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[e] 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

I just don’t know how much more simple it can be said.

God Bless and Keep You All.

Apocalypse Now?

The past couple of weeks, I have been reading some very timely Bible devotionals that pertain to the prophesied Tribulation. Looking at the prophets Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel and John of the Book of Revelation it is easy to see obvious comparisons to our current situation with the Corona Virus.

First, the virus came out of China to the east of Jerusalem and it is having the effect of a ‘plague’ on a world-wide scale. There is a lot of debate about the deadliness of Covid-19, but currently it is much less dangerous than influenza that has caused nearly 20,000 deaths this season. That being said, the number of deaths from Corona is a tragedy.

Second, there are wars and rumors of wars. The headlines are full of stories about terrorist attacks, again most coming from the east, and Iran along with North Korea constantly threatening retaliation for imagined insults and threats. This past week, China has accused the United States of releasing Covid-19 in thier homeland, but the threats of retaliation are vague at best.

Third, the United Nations and the European Union have expressed openly or by innuendo that they must be given authority over world affairs in order to solve all of the world’s problems.

Lastly, liberal politicians in all levels of government want to destroy the United States from the inside by literally kicking God out of this great nation. If you have doubts about this last statement, let me remind you that ‘separation of church and state’ is the foundation of the liberal argument that God cannot be mentioned in any public forum. Young speakers a high school and college graduations are threatened with loss of honors and a diploma if the mention God or Jesus in any form or fashion. Court cases have been filed and upheld by liberal judges stripping the Ten Commandments and In God We Trust from public and government buildings. Other cases are filed to force Christian groups to take down crosses from personal and public land because someone was offended.

Furthermore, certain members of Congress have stated that certain Presidential appointments should be disqualified from holding judicial or administrative positions because of their religious beliefs. All the while Islamic beliefs are protected, especially by a previous president, and if elected to office a muslim can be sworn in using the Koran. Former President Obama made one statement that unquestionably true, we can no longer claim to be a dedicated Christian nation.

Are we now in the time of the Apocalypse or the Tribulation? No! Now is not that time, but God is giving us a foretaste of things to come for the unbeliever and the lost. This is just a sampling and a warning. The nation of Israel has a history of suffering tragedy by God’s hand as a way of warning the Jews to leave their sins and repent, to return to Him before it is too late. What we are seeing today is certainly a world-wide warning to return to Him and repent. Pastor David Wilkerson pointed out in his devotional on Sept. 3, 2007:

In Isaiah’s prophecy, the city under judgment is cast into confusion. Every house is shut up, with no one coming or going. “The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in” (Isaiah 24:10).

Sounds like an appropriate description of our current situation.

This is not an opinion piece of doom and gloom, quite the contrary, it is a message of warning and of hope! A warning means we still have time to confess our sins and repent, then trust in Jesus Christ as our personal savior. The Tribulation will come, but it will be preceded by the Rapture. That means everyone who is saved by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ will be taken away to be with Him for the seven years of the Tribulation. The world as we know it cannot be saved but you can be saved.

In case no one has ever explained how you can be saved, Romans 10:9-11 tells you how and it is simple:

Romans 10:9-11 New International Version (NIV)

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

If you are sincere, you will want to confess your sins and turn to a new life avoiding those sins with help of the Holy Spirit. You will have peace and you can have confidence that no matter what happens, God has a plan to prosper you either on earth or is heaven.

“Even so, come Lord Jesus.”

Signs of the Times

This was such good posting that I wanted to share it. This experience of ‘pandemic’ is just a foretaste of the End Times.

March 15th, 2020

This week Hal Lindsey Presents looks at the Antichrist. This person has intrigued students of God’s word since the days of the prophet Daniel. You’ve heard a great deal of speculation about him. Revelation 13 gives us a look at him from God’s perspective.

This is extremely relevant right now. With the world in the throes of the COVID-19 pandemic, we see how quickly global disaster can strike. The first person to be diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus started showing symptoms on December 8. At that time, no one had ever heard of this thing. But today, the United States of America has declared a national emergency.

Pestilences are just one of the problems the Bible says will strike the world in the time leading up to Christ’s return. In their fear, people will see in the Antichrist someone who seems to have a miraculous ability to solve everyone’s problems.

Antichrist will weaponize deception. Daniel 8:25 says, “Through his cunning He shall cause deceit to prosper.”

In Matthew 24:3, the Lord’s disciples asked, “What will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Jesus then gave a discourse that would last the rest of chapter 24 and all of chapter 25. But the first words out of his mouth were, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4, NKJV).

Jesus told us that Satan is the father of lies. Revelation 13 says that Satan will give his power and authority to the Antichrist. You can see his chief characteristic from that. Antichrist will be the great deceiver. He will use the world’s emergencies to achieve power for himself like no world leader before him.

I hope you will join me for this week’s Hal Lindsey Presents. You can see it on Daystar, Sunday at 11PM Eastern Time. Or, you can watch it online anytime at http://www.hallindsey.com or http://www.hischannel.com. If you missed any episodes, you can catch up by visiting http://www.hallindsey.com/videos/.

God Bless,
Hal Lindsey

Mass Hysteria over Covid 19

I would like to say that Americans are going about their daily business in a calm manner in the face of the Corona Virus panic, but that would be wishful thinking. I’ve been in several stores to do a little shopping for necessities and what I witnessed was appalling.

People with shopping baskets piled as high as their heads with multiple units of toilet paper, cases of water, 8 to 10 loaves of bread, etc. One woman told me she had a jar of peanut butter literally grabbed from her hand by a male shopper. Since then, the parking lots are almost full everyday and people are lined up outside the grocery stores hours before the store opens.

My daughter works for HEB Grocery and she saw checkout lines stretching all the way to the back of the store blocking off the receiving area, and every checkout lane was open as well as self check. One woman with a stacked basket tried to go through the 10 items or less lane and was turned away to a regular checkout. People are even going to the pharmacy checkout wanting to pay at their registers. It seems the all many people can think about is themselves.

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, with self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God– having a form of godliness but denying its power. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)NIV

I am of the firm opinion that we are experiencing a precursor of the End Times prophesied in the Bible. Call me a religious nut or a Bible thumper. That’s alright, I take no offense at either. All I can say is I worked in retail pharmacy for 42 years and witnessed several panic episodes concerning flu immunizations and predicted shortages of certain medications. I have never seen such mass hysteria spread across every aspect of society and the world as I’ve seen of late.

If you want a sense of peace, turn to God. Turn to Jesus Christ. Jesus promised, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid (John 14:27 NIV).

I stake my life on that promise. I stake my eternal future on that future. No matter what happens, the mountains may fall and the stock market may tank, but I have a savior that gives me peace through it all and a heavenly future when His rapture comes.

Coronavirus (Chinese Coronavirus)

The panic spreading around the world from fear of the Chinese Coronavirus is astounding. Many people in the U.S. are responding by panic buying and hoarding of hand-cleaner, face masks, hand-soap, and even toilet paper. I haven’t figured out that last one.

China has been recalcitrant in it’s cooperation with other nations and seems intent on reporting infections and deaths while ignoring recoveries. Please remember, China is not too concerned about the medical needs of many of its citizens and that contributes to many of the complications and deaths in that country.

I would like to point out that even the U.S. news outlets are failing to report on the number of recoveries compared to the deaths that have occurred. Panic sells the news and good news is mostly ignored, especially during this election season. It would be wise to look at the numbers instead of the sensationalized news stories and judge for yourself.

It is true that some other nations are having terrible infections rates, but again, no one is reporting the number of recoveries in those countries. It should be noted that these nations do not have the quality of health care available in the U.S. and many of them have nationalized health services.

One last thing, I am a retired pharmacist and a Certified Immunizer so I feel qualified to criticize anti-vaxers for their panic based opinions about the deadly side-effects of vaccines. There are not studies supporting their claims, only horror stories handed down amongst themselves and are made more terrible with each telling. Yes, it is possible for an individual to have an adverse reaction to a vaccine and to have minor symptoms similar to the flue or the given disease. However, let me be absolutely clear on this issue. There is no conspiracy by the drug industry or the government to make profits or harm the public with this disease prevention effort.

Finally, take reasonable precautions to avoid the virus and don’t panic. I repeat, don’t panic. Many people will acquire the infection, but over 80% will recover with no complications.
