HFF/Caine's Law Update

February 12, 2012

The novel formerly known as His Father's Fist is currently scheduled for release next February. It's "formerly known" because the marketing honchos at Ballantine decided the previous title was a bit too evocative of gay incest porn.

It's now called Caine's Law, and looks to have the best cover of the series so far.

I will also be working with Ballantine on releasing a preview or two, once the final corrections are completed and proofed.

Oh, sure, sure, it's been a month . . .

Here's the thing.

Yes: Kickstarter deadline approacheth anon. Everybody who pledged. make sure you've got the gelt in question. Remember: Caine knows where you live.

For those of you who follow such things in detail, OverWorld may have secured a cover artist who paints like Frazetta on crank. I kid you not: this guy is the best S&S painter I've ever seen, and I'm really hoping we can make this work — not only because I want the OverWorld cover to !!ROCK!!, but also because there's no reason that anyone who gives a shit about this genre shouldn't know who this guy is.

At this end of the spectrum, all kinds of shit is going on. I have a new project out with my agent, currently called Knights of the Revenant, which is a modern neo-pulp action adventure with occult overtones. Knights is currently planned for production as a comic book out of Studio MWS, but it's also attracted a nibble from Hollywood already, so HOO RAH!

Maybe one of these days, I'll be paying some other poor bastard to write a novelization of my shit.

Hmm . . .

Oh yeah, I'm now President of Studio MWS, an umbrella company that owns the controlling interest in Adventures Unlimited Studio LLC, a development company devoted to All Things Caine. Our headquarters is in St. Petersburg FL, which is where I'm about to move to. "About to" as in: Saturday.

My junior partners include the estimable Moe "Moebama" Suliman (because YES, HE CAN!), Tony "CW" Armer, and the Fabulous One herself.

Also, this past week I delivered the revised script for a TV demo pilot that starts shooting in a few weeks. If the network likes it, well . . . that will be what we in the business call "a good thing."

Finally — as of June 17th or so — I will once again be a single man; Fabulous and I have decided to go back to being pals instead of man & wife. This is the opposite of a tragedy — we were always better friends than we were lovers — and I'm not just Stiff-Upper-Lipping it here. She and I are going to be family forever (not to mention business partners), and I know that if I ever get kidnapped by terrorists in Azerbaijan or a Central American drug cartel, Robyn will  be the first one in, via HALO drop wearing nothing but bike pants, a sports bra, her KA-BAR and her 10mm Witness.

That's the news. I am outta here.
