Q&A: Does The Cause Of The Universe Really Have To Be Spaceless, Timeless, and Immaterial?

Greetings Evan,

In your blog post titled "The Kalam Cosmological Argument", you made the statement: "We can infer logically that the cause must have certain attributes given the nature of the origin of the universe. For example, since the cause brought space into existence, it cannot be spacial. Since in order to be spacial, it would have to exist inside of space. But we know that space didn't exist until The Big Bang. So the cause must transcend space (i.e be spaceless). It must be timeless f...

Does Isaiah 53 Refer To The Messiah, Israel, or Someone Else?

"Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering,
yet we co...

Q&A: How Can We Know Which Doctrines Are True?

Was just thinking of your recent debates how I have been reading and developing some arguments that are very interesting. I think we as Christians we tend to turn the bible into an idol of sorts. I has become this was nose "virgin Mary" of sorts which can say virtually anything we want it to. This is a position known as "biblicism" where the Bible is our object of faith. Some even use it as their foundation for fitness, finance and politics. (See the Daniel diet)

Look at how many different pos...

Calvinism and Robots: A Rebuttal to John Frame

The following is a guest post written by Phillip Mast.

Source: https://apolojet.wordpress.com/2013/09/03/calvinism-and-robots/Summary: Joseph Torres with KingdomView blog advises that it is common to hear that through belief in Calvinism humans are relegated to the role of being mere robots. Torres provides comments by John Frame, author of “The Doctrine of God”, as a refutation of this objection. I proceed through Frame’s comments on the issue to see if he adequately dismisses the Calvinist...

What Is Romans 9 Really About?

This is a blog post with two authors: Evan Minton and Colin Burgess. We worked on this blog post together in Google Docs prior to uploading it to Cerebral Faith.
Romans 9, a passage I once avoided reading as a young Christian.  I circled around it thinking to myself, “Things were going so well in the Bible, up until this passage! Why did Paul have to throw this wrench into the gears?” It is much like those awkward verses of the sword in the Old Testament which atheists like to use t...

Another Failed Wiggle Attempt: A Second Response To Kevin Courter

This blog post is a response to Kevin Courter's response to my article "5 Biblical Texts That Calvinists Can't Wiggle Out Of". Courter responded to that initial article here, and I responded to his response here. Kevin Courter has taken the time to respond to that article, which you can read here.

Passage 1: 1 Peter 2:1

2 Peter 2:1 Courter writes "...of the various theories of what the atonement accomplishes, the limited/unlimited debate is only relevant within a substitutionary view thereof. I also meant...

Molinism T-Shirts You Can Buy In The Actual World

So, my friend Chan Arnett sent me one of the novelty T-shirts that he's been selling on Amazon.com. The theme of these T-shirts is Molinism and he's been advertising them in the Facebook Group "Molinism - Official Page"  You can get yourself an awesome Molinist shirt for a reasonable price of 20 bucks if you go over to Amazon.com. So far, he's got at least 2 different kinds, but I think he plans on creating and producing more. Quite frankly, I'd like to have a T-shirt with Luis De M...

All Wiggled Out?: A Second Response To Tony Lee Ross Jr.

Well, as followers of this blog know full well I've been in two blog wars with Kevin Courter and Tony Lee Ross Jr. over my blog post "5 Biblical Texts That Calvinists Can't Wiggle Out Of". Tony Lee Ross Jr. wrote a response to that article here, and then I wrote a response to his response here. After that, Tony responded to that post in a blog post titled "More Amygdala Than Cerebral: A Response to Evan Minton".

In this blog post, I will be responding to the content of "More Amygdal...

Scripture In The Hands Of A Wiggly Calvinist: A Response To Tony Lee Ross Jr.

My recent blog post titled "5 Biblical Texts That Calvinists Can't Wiggle Out Of" has gotten a lot of attention, and that's an understatement. The day after I published it, this blog got 3,301 page views in a day where the average amount of page views per day is around 300-700. It attracted some back lash, some hostile and some cordial, one of those cordial responses to the article was written up by a Mr. Kevin Courter. I wrote a response to his response which was published yesterday. Today,...

Let The Wiggling Commence: A Response To Kevin Courter

My most recent article "5 Biblical Texts That Calvinists Can't Wiggle Out Of" received a LOT of views (numbering in the thousands per day) as well as a lot of backlash (the latter of which was to be expected). Most just simply made comments that were tantamount to saying "Nuh-uh" or "You're wrong" which, of course, is always enough to change someone's mind, right? I also got a particularly condescending, arrogant, and angry comment from a Mr. Jim Boucher. However, one Calvinist actually took...
