Leviathan Is A Dinosaur From Your Imagination (And So Is Behemoth)

Dinosaurs are fascinating creatures! Ever since childhood, I have been enthralled by these monstrous lizards who lived so long ago. My favorite dinosaur was and still is; the mighty T-Rex! Standing at an average height of 13 feet with jaws that look like they could crush anything, the Tyrannosaurus Rex was definitely a dinosaur that captivated my attention. Although I admire the Tyrannosaurus Rex, I certainly would never want to meet one in person!

Many creationists, however, insist th...

Q&A: Chester Asks About John Walton’s Functional Creation View

Hey, Evan!

I follow your work here at Cerebral Faith and I really appreciate your research and output of work!! With that said I’ve been particularly following your take on the work of John H. Walton and his stance on the Biblical Creation account i.e. “Functional Creationism”/ The Cosmic Temple Inauguration view. I myself lean toward an Old Earth theistic Evolution view but I find myself very skeptical of Walton’s Functional Creationism interpretation.

I admittedly have not read any of Walton’s bo...

Why Did God Allow Mexican Drug Cartels To Murder This Mormon Family?

If you’ve either been watching the news at all or if you’ve been scrolling your timeline on Facebook, you are probably aware three moms and six children were gunned down by drug cartel thugs in northern Mexico. As Jane Wharton of Metro.uk reported “Mexico’s top security official Alfonso Durazo blamed drugs gangs for the attack, saying they may have mistaken the SUV convoy for a rival cartel or it could have been a kidnapping gone wrong. Rhonita Maria LeBaron died alongside four of her...

Q&A: My New Position On Hell And Its Relation To Eschatology

Hi Evan

I have read your recent articles on annihilationism particularly your review of Edward Fudge’s book The Fire That Consumes. Kudos to you for being willing to take your stance on such a controversial topic as you did with Evolution, at the expense of being called a “heretic” by more traditional Christians.

I am not fully convinced of the annihilationist position as of now as I think the eternal punishment view still has some merits. But having read up on the ANE context of Sheol Hades a...

Q&A: Starter Books On The Existence Of God

Hi Evan, I was wondering if you could recommend some starter books that discuss the evidences for the existence of God?

– Timothy

Absolutely, Timothy! I can think of several good introductory works to the arguements for God’s existence and of Christianity’s truth in general. In this Q&A article, I’ll list my own and then my own list of top 5.

The Case For The One True God: A Scientific, Philosophical, and Historical Case For The God Of Christianity

I wrote this book myself, so I’...

A Short Facebook Exchange On Molinism, Isaiah 55:11, and Acts 7:51

So, recently, I was scrolling my Facebook timeline when I came across the following meme posted by a Facebook page. The meme had Acts 13:48 on it with the second panel having pictures of Jacob Arminius plastered over the more Calvinistic sounding parts, implying that Arminians just can’t handle the verse. It’s not compatible with their soteriology. I’m inclined to agree, but as a Molinist who agrees that God predestines all individuals via acting on His middle knowledge of what si...

BOOK REVIEW: “Jesus, Skepticism, And The Problem Of History”

“Jesus, Skepticism, and The Problem Of History: Criteria and Context In The Study Of Christian Origins” is a book written by a plethora of different New Testament scholars such as Darrel Bock, Craig Blomberg, Daniel B. Wallace, Craig Keener, Michael Licona, Scot Mcknight, Michael Bird, and several others. The book is a book on Historical Jesus studies and each chapter is, more or less a stand-alone essay written by each contributor of the book. The book is heavily scholarly in ton...

Q&A: Yet Another E-Mail On The FreeThinking Argument (With A Brief Note On Plantinga’s Evolutionary Argument Against Naturalism)

As I have mentioned before, I am now a believer in Libertarian Free Will however I still disagree with the freethinking argument. I wanted to discuss it with Tim Stratton directly, however he is busy at this point so we agreed that it would be best for me to discuss it with you. (Again). We have debated the issue several times before and if I recall you and Tim Stratton discussed some of my arguments on an episode that was played on both of your podcasts. (I watched it on his to se...

William Lane Craig Responded To Me! Genesis 1, John Walton, and ANE Creation Texts.

Needless to say that I was surprised when I found out that William Lane Craig’s most recent episode of The Reasonable Faith Podcast was all about responding to my articles that I wrote responding to his criticisms of The Lost World Of Genesis One (which can be read here and here). I knew there was a good possibility that this could happen. Kevin Harris, Craig’s co-host, searches the internet for blog posts and videos to comment on for the podcast, and this is especially the case when it comes to mater...

The Resurrection Of The Jewish Messiah (BOOK REVIEW)

“The Resurrection Of The Jewish Messiah” by Eric Chabot is a short and sweet, but informative read on the historical evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. Chabot covers several areas in each chapter such as the reliability and trustworthiness of oral transmission (because the teachings and stories about Jesus circulated through oral tradition before being put into writings which is a point of attack from some skeptics), the trustworthiness and importance of The Apostle Paul’s wr...
