Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving week! We’re having Thanksgiving at home this year, with gluten-free pies and stuffing for our little grandchildren with celiac (an autoimmune disorder) as well as gluten versions. It’s not hard to do with a bit of planning. Avoiding cross-contamination is key. That’s why we have two rolling pins! All the gravy will be gluten-free. Alex at the fabulous Parker House Inn in Quechee, Vermont, gave me tips since they do naturally gluten-free gravy. SO good.

My next Swift River Valley novel is The River House, on sale March 27. That’s right around t… Read More

The Waterfall is back in print

We’re in “leaf peeping” season here in northern New England, and as luck would have it, The Waterfall, which is set  in Vermont (with a touch of Wyoming!) is  back in print. I’m excited! I’m already hearing from readers who are discovering this standalone romantic suspense novel for the first time. To make this reissue even more fun, my publisher has included Odd Man Out as a bonus. It’s the very first novel by fantastic Montana author BJ Daniels. BJ and I met in NYC a few years ago at Book Expo America. We were seated next to each other at dinner a… Read More

Heading home to our hilltop

It’s a quiet morning here on the southwest Irish coast as Joe and I pack up to start our journey home. On to ahotel near Shannon Airport today and then off to Boston tomorrow. I’ll be signing copies of Thief’s Mark at stops along the way back to our hilltop in Vermont.

While in Ireland, I’ve been picking up items here and there for this month’s website giveaway: a StarWars t-shirt celebrating scenes filmed on stunning, historic Skellig Michael; a slim blank notebook with a hand-painted cover; Irish greeting cards; scented Irish soap. Be sure to enter today! … Read More

Running the Dingle Half Marathon

I have my feet up, a spa appointment tomorrow, writing organized for the next few days and a great feeling about yesterday’s half-marathon in Dingle on the southwest Irish coast. Truth be told, I almost bailed yesterday morning before the race even started. The weather forecast was lousy with heavy rain and wind with gusts over 40 mph moving in during the run. Gulp. I had all my “cons” lined up in my head as I walked down to the start line, but the gathering runners — men and women of all ages, sizes and abilities — were a boost of confidence. I got in line and nex… Read More

Running in Ireland

Just taking a breather after driving from the Beara Peninsula to the Dingle Peninsula, through Moll’s Gap with quick stops at Muckross House and the stunning beach at Inch. We then drove Slea Head, the route for my half-marathon tomorrow. Gorgeous scenery — check out the “selfie” I took and the view — but quite the uphill climb for this runner! Rain and wind are moving in during the day tomorrow, so who knows. We’ll see how it goes. Running 13.1 miles isn’t easy but this is supposed to be a fun not a grueling experience.

Speaking of fun, I very much … Read More

THIEF’S MARK in stores today!

Today I’m celebrating the publication of THIEF’S MARK, my latest Sharpe & Donovan novel. Joe and I enjoyed a delightful lunch at Purple Heather in the small village of Kenmare on the southwest Irish coast. It’s a wonderful, cozy, atmospheric place that I highly recommend if you’re in the area. We love their soups and indulged in apple crumble for dessert — we shared!

I’m still training for the half-marathon on Saturday. This little stone cottage is on my training route. It reminds me of my fictional FBI agents Emma Sharpe and Colin Donovan and the… Read More

Hello from Ireland!

Joe and I arrived at Shannon airport in Ireland early Friday morning, took a walk in the beautiful walled garden at Dromoland Castle (pictured above) and now are ensconced in a cute cottage on the southwest coast. I’m writing, looking forward to the release of Thief’s Mark on the 29th and getting ready for a half-marathon in Dingle on September 2. The half-marathon feels very ambitious at the moment, but we’ll see how the next days go. Running while jet lagged is a slog but I do feel refreshed afterward!

Lately I haven’t listened to music or podcasts on my runs. … Read More

LIAR’S KEY in paperback!

Liar’s Key is now out in paperback! It’s the sixth novel in my Sharpe & Donovan suspense series, but it can be read as a standalone. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram praised the story for its “witty dialogue, engaging characters and an intriguing mystery,” and RT Book Reviews called it “insanely sensational” in their Top Pick! review.

Next up is Thief’s Mark, due out in hardcover on August 29. You can preorder a copy here (it helps so much, thank you!). FBI agents Emma Sharpe and Colin Donovan are wrapping up their Irish honeymoon when they get embroiled in a suspicious death at … Read More

Happy July!

Happy Fourth of July! I enjoy fireworks, a good thing since tonight will make three nights in a row with fireworks in the area. Sunday, Monday and today (Tuesday) have all been gorgeous, but July rolled in on Saturday with torrential rain here in northern New England. I’m training for another half-marathon, this one in Ireland in early September, and the river still was high on my run Sunday morning. There was some minor road damage but nothing even close to the devastation of Irene in 2011. Enough, though, to remind me of the power of flash floods.

I’m writing and taking in early summ… Read More
