KISS THE MOON now in audio!

One of the most rewarding parts of being a writer is when new readers discover, and love, one of my earlier titles. That just happened again with Kiss the Moon. I loved writing this book, working with all the great people at MIRA Books early into their foray into single-title publishing. Fun times.

And now, at least, it’s available in audio, read by Marguerite Gavin!

Many thanks to Tantor Media, and enjoy.

A recipe for applesauce spice cake and maple buttercream frosting

Happy autumn! Here’s one of my favorite cake recipes, a real indulgence and a favorite as the leaves turn color and the temperatures cool. I love it with maple buttercream frosting, recipe below. Soooo good.

I try to use my own homemade applesauce. There’s nothing quite like writing away with applesauce bubbling on the stove and a fire in the woodstove. Just can’t get too absorbed in the writing and forget the sauce and the fire! APPLESAUCE SPICE CAKE

Ingredients

2½ c. all-purpose flour

1 tsp. salt

¼ tsp. baking powder

1½ tsp. baking soda

¾ tsp. ground cinnamon

½ tsp. g… Read More

I’m thrilled to announce that the audio edition of Stonebrook Cottage is now available on Audible and other major platforms!

This story features Texas is close to my heart—it can be read as a standalone novel but is #3 in my New York Times bestselling Carriage House romantic suspense series: The Carriage House, The Cabin, Stonebrook Cottage, The Harbor

A Texas Ranger and a Connecticut lawyer are on the trail of a vicious killer.

After building a career as a defense attorney in New England, Kara Galway has moved back to Texas in search of peace. But her thoughts return to the east coast when her frRead More

A spring hike in Woodstock VT

We live on the doorstep of beautiful Woodstock, Vermont. Here are photos from our recent hike up Mt. Tom via the Faulkner Trail and then down via the Billings and Precipice Trails. It had rained hard the day before, making for some soggy sections, but what a great day to get out in nature as I write away.

Enjoy!

THE CABIN now in audio!

The Cabin, one of my most popular romantic suspense novels, is now available in audio for the first time!

Many thanks to Tantor Media, and to narrator Marguerite Gavin.

I’m excited and I know many of my audiobook readers are, too, because they’ve been asking for this to happen.

Here’s a peek at the story:

Texas Ranger Jack Galway knows his wife Susanna loves him, so when their marriage hits a rough patch, he supports her decision to take their two teenaged daughters to Boston for a break. But when a few weeks turns into several months, Jack heads to Boston to get his family back.

British crime fiction from book to screen

The first time I binge-watched a television series was on a long flight from Dublin to Boston. I immersed myself in multiple episodes of the often grim but always gripping British series “Spooks”—“MI-5” in the U.S. with its dark world of conflicted agents and deadly plots.

Since then, I’ve binge-watched a wide range of British crime series. Some of my favorites are based on book series.

Endeavour

A young Endeavour Morse, smart, awkward and dedicated, solving crime with mentor Fred Thursday in 1960s Oxford and surroundings, based on characters created by Colin Dexter.

Here’s a photo o… Read More

Spring on the southwest Irish coast

The snow is melting fast now on our Vermont hilltop, with green grass, flowers and tulips not far off. Spring in northern New England! I’m loving the longer, warmer days, but I also love this beautiful time of year on the southwest Irish coast. It’s one of my favorite places.

Lambs hiding in tall grass. Pink blossoms on a “secret” trail. Wildflowers on a hedgerow.

I can walk forever this time of year (that’s me in my Irish mack!). I’m always refreshed when I return to writing.

Wherever you are, happy spring, and happy reading!

Happy Valentine’s Day 2025!

Flowers, chocolates, a candlelit dinner, curled up with your favorite book…

There are ways to celebrate and enjoy Valentine’s Day whether on your own or with someone!

I’ve posted these photos in the past but can’t go wrong with roses. I took these shots on a past trip to Ireland, a setting for a number of my novels, particularly in the Sharpe & Donovan series. I love the water drops on the red roses. Enjoy!

Q&A (with me!)

I did a Q&A with RT Book Reviews shortly before it ended publication a few yeas ago after a long, stellar run. Here it is, slightly updated:

What was the first book you read that meant something to you?

The Moonspinners by Mary Stewart. I happened on it in the library as a kid, and when I read it, I knew I wanted to be a writer.

What book do you wish you could live in?

I just finished A Country Diary: The Year in Kerry by Patrick O’Sullivan and enjoyed “living in” his descriptions of Irish scenery.

What trope most mirrors your life?

“It seemed like a good idea at the time.” Ah, yes…

If we pulled up next to you Read More

Happy New Year!

Here’s to a wonderful 2025 for you and yours!

May your year be filled with good books and a comfy spot to read, whether it’s tucked by a fire or a pool or some other place you love to turn pages.

My 2024 didn’t go exactly as planned (sigh) but I look forward to getting new titles in readers’ hands in 2025.

Meanwhile, happy new year, and happy reading.

Note: The photo is a winter sunrise on our hilltop in Vermont.
