Quick update:

The charity thing is moving forward, so next week is the starting day.

Meanwhile, Dreamspinner is releasing an anthology in August called "Animal Magnetism" about pets bringing people together and it's going to feature a story of mine. I don't know if they are going to keep my crazy title though, but just in case it's, "Butterbean and The Pretty Princess Make a Home". Crack! More later.

Also everyone has seen this? Tag me I post because shy guy/model y/y???

Charity Post

I've posted about this before but consider this one official. In the middle of June I am going to offer up my services for a good cause. I will write a new original story with a minimum of 5k words (I say minimum because I tend to go over word limits very quickly) to the highest bidder.

--Bidding will take place in an entry here in this livejournal, because most other places will not allow anonymous bidding and some people might want to do that and I like people to have options. :)

--Bidders can PM me with their contact info if they don't want it public, otherwise it should go in the comment/response post, along with the amount of their bid. The starting price is $5 (exchange rates apply).

--I'll leave the auction up for five days. Sunday June 10 through Friday June 15.

--If you are the highest bidder by the time the auction closes, I will contact you and you can give me a prompt (if you wish) or not, but either way I will write something after you show proof of donation (My deadline to finish will be probably the end of July).

--By prompt I mean do you want something fluffy and sweet or something darker, or a taste for twinks, or shifters, or cops, that sort of thing. Not a complete story outline, that's limiting and no fun for either of us. (This is not a carte blanche though, I'm not writing anything underage, for example, unless you request some kind of YA. You get the idea.) The story will be dedicated to you, all pretty like, with your name at the top and everything. :)

Charities:

--Again, I like people to have options, so I have a choice of charities. Two local (for me) but relevant and one charity with a slightly wider net.

Shanti Shanti is a San Francisco organization that provides housing and support for people with life-threatening illnesses, including HIV/AIDS.

The San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center The mission of the San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) Community Center is to connect our diverse community to opportunities, resources and each other to achieve our vision of a stronger, healthier, and more equitable world for LGBT people and our allies.

And then the NOH8 camnpaign. The NOH8 Campaign is a charitable organization whose mission is to promote marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest.

Torquere Books is also donating to NOH8 this year, and I want to write something for them, but my work schedule is crazy right now and I might not get to it. But it's a cause worth giving to even if you don't get fiction out of it. Buy These Stories

Seriously. Even if no one wants to bid on me, give to these charities, or anything like them that is closer to home for you.

I need a charity icon.

i hear you call my name and it feels like home

Just submitted something. A little thing, but still *whew* it's never easy. (Nor should it ever be.) I feel this urge to commentfic it, even though it's not out and might not ever be and no one even knows the characters.

I have a question, though I know authors aren't supposed to comment on reviews. But this is more an honestly befuddled question. People seem... excited? Over the locations? They say things like "it has 7800 locations!!" That's a thing? People have a locations thing? Or is that just unusual?

I'm missing something aren't I?

Jane (Davitt) says Torquere is also doing a charity thing, for NOH8 this year. The theme is leather. That could be interesting to do as well.

Also here, just because:

“Clematis is a flower name.” Damn, Bertie was fast. Too fast. “Was that the fairy you spoke of before?” Arthur couldn’t smell herbs but the air seemed to be getting hotter, smokier, like Bertie’s voice as he put together Arthur’s words in the way that Arthur had been afraid of. “Arthur when you said you don’t have people in your past… do you mean that despite the fairy….” He twitched, like he had to stop himself from moving. The very air around him grew hot, and Arthur thought of earthquakes again, something earth-shattering just beneath the surface that had Bertie excited. “Arthur are you pure of body as well?”

It took everything Arthur had to shake his head, though sometimes he thought everything with Clematis had been a dream. When he considered it, they’d only been together, really together, for one night and everything else had been random and quick and hurried, kisses and messing around like he’d done in high school, nothing more.

“This isn’t….” His mouth was dry. Bertie looked like he was moments from crawling onto Arthur’s lap; his heavy-lidded eyes doing nothing to disguise his wide pupils. They sparkled with interest. Arthur did his best to remind himself that if there was interest there, it was probably just curiosity, and probably amusement as well, since Arthur had basically admitted to being almost a virgin. Technically, he wasn’t, but one night wasn’t much experience and Clematis hadn’t been the kind to bend him over a table. “This isn’t appropriate.” It was a weak argument but it was an argument. Arthur had a feeling he might not have done too bad with a shield, if he’d been in one of those old stories, though he still couldn’t imagine himself using a sword, not even the way he’d pretended to as a child.

“You slept okay?” Aaron asked over the sound of kittens lapping up cream. “I didn’t want to wake you.”

“You could have.” Riley ran a hand through his hair and yawned and smiled through all of it.

Yeah. With his penis.

tonight we are young

There is never enough sleep. Where is all the sleep and who is hoarding it?

Where have I been? Working. Not writing, then writing, sort of (pretty boys and snuggly bears and kittens, people would want that?), editing dragons in love, then wondering where on earth one might get a writer type mentor, for mentoring purposes. Because one has questions, sometimes. (Sorry, I am tired, I might make even less sense than usual.) This is a confusing new world and I don't think the rules are set in place yet, but surely there must be some out there who have already learned the things I need to learn? Yes?

Ahem. Business. People have been asking if I would/could put all my free reads snippets up on Amazon or Smashwords so they could be downloadable. This hadn't occurred to me as something to do. (At all. I need to work on that technology stuff). But, yeah, I might, as soon as I get my shit together and edit them (some of them were written as commentfic and come complete with typos) and get cover art and try to arrange them as a collection that makes sense or at least looks pretty.

Others have been asking if there is anything else (aw! flatterers! you guys!) or will I write anything else like those free reads, or actual sequels. I might. I like commentfic as an exercise and I've usually spent so much time with my characters that writing their little scenes and spin offs and AUs is fun for me. As for regular sequels... not in the traditional sense, but I'd like some of my characters to make appearances elsewhere.

Meanwhile, I am planning on doing a charity original story, so anyone interested get your budget in order and your potential story prompts in mind. (Dunno about sequels though. I might ask do new ideas only, though in the same universe might be okay). My schedule in the next few weeks is going to get bananas, so I might announce it all and then open the bidding sometime near the end of May and then give myself a deadline like July 1.

You are interested in all this babble, I'm sure. lol. I'll move on.

Yay for equal marriage rights! Now for equal rom-coms and bridal registry!

where you think you're goin', baby?

A couple of things. (Oh hey anyone new who might be reading this. Hey! I just met you, this is crazy, but here's my number...)

First things first,
I know it's expensive and a big purchase and maybe I'm no one's favorite author, but OMG! It's a book! I'm having a moment. I'm getting all verklempt!

In other news it's Dreamspinner's Fifth Anniversary, so they are having sales all month, but I guess they are surprise! bonus extra special sales and other deals and treats that you have to watch their FB or Twitter feed to find out about. Just letting people know. Sales! Sales are always good.

In *other* other news, I seriously might be no one's favorite author (as far as I can tell anyway) but screw it, I'm going to go ahead with my charity thing. What I am most likely going to do is set up a post with a starting bid price (something low, like $5) and offer to write a new story of at least 5000 words based on a prompt from the person with the highest bid (if I have a bidder. If not I might write something anyway, but charity would get no money. Boo). I am still considering the details, but the charity will most likely be for this place or someplace like it The San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center. But again, I'm still working out the details... with myself really, and my schedule and moods. (Damn moods!)

Anyway, BOOK! It's pretty to hold I must say. Now back to work for me... or sleep. I might sleep now. Work tomorrow.

while Vanity 6 blasts from my speakers...

Holy shit, release day.

I mean, not that it matters in the grand scheme of life or anything. Just that I am all nervous and fluttery about it and I still have to go to work and be all normal and calm and shit. :(

No fun. I will imagine Chandler/Kent sex while there maybe. Just for funsies. Then maybe work on original plotting stuff like a good girl.

Meanwhile, just a reminder for anyone who feels they need an epilogue that one does in fact exist. And it's free! (You just have to suffer my bad Spanish).

Somebody Named Will

So much love to everyone today. Especially Claire and Paulina and Daphne and Dreamsparkle, for keeping me on target. :)

Another day, another classic movie spam post

Is Goodreads no longer cross posting? Ah well. All you'd miss out on anyway is my weird randomness and some anxious babbling as the days tick away.

I can't help myself. That nervous energy has to go somewhere. And I can't find clips from Sabrina that I want. Youtube fail.

Instead you get these.

I'm feeling fine and you?

Does anyone do this like Irene Dunne? We need a new version of her.

(I just post these things out of love... and to shame dlasta for not having seen them yet).

Judy Holliday in Born Yesterday The "dumb" blonde done to perfection.

The Lady Eve Don't think Will wouldn't do this. (Until the end anyway, when he wouldn't be able to stop smiling)

Okay, I will stop now. :):):)

ETA: She has seen Born Yesterday. Woo hoo!
