COMING SOON...

It sounds as though my latest comic venture will be appearing in AE: The Canadian Science Fiction Review . This is one of my highest profile publication credits to date, so I am very excited about it. The comic in question is a dystopian science fiction story about the dangers of genetic engineering, created in collaboration with Marcello Abreu (artist) and Brant W. Fowler (letterer). I haven't been told exactly when it will be published, but I do know that when it is, it will be available to read for the bargain price of absolutely nothing. Further details will be posted here as and when they become available.

Another competition draws to a close...

Many thanks to the 890 people who entered my recent giveaway and congratulations to the winners (Kris from New Zealand, Rita from Portugal & Dawn from the US). Your copies of Bloodlust Variations will be sent out to you within the next couple of days. I know I say this every time I organise a giveaway, but it is really nice to see how many people are interested in my work and I really wish I could have given everyone a copy of the book. Unfortunately, there's no way my meagre bank balance could have coped with that kind of strain. I'll be sure to keep informing you about any new money saving voucher codes, however. More great competitions coming soon. Watch this space...

BREAKING NEWS!

I was deeply saddened to read today about the death of Gerry Anderson. Like so many others, I was a great fan of his work. From the innovative puppetry of Thunderbirds and Stingray to the intelligent sci fi plots of UFO and Space 1999, his shows were out of this world. I can't begin to imagine how many hours of joy he has brought to children across the globe, but one thing I do know... the universe has lost one of its brightest creative lights. Why not click on the links below and journey back to the beginning of Supermarionation with the first ever episode of Supercar:

What happened to the apocalypse?

Phew... the 21st December 2012 has been and gone and the world didn't end! I guess those smarty pants people who said the Mayan calendar had been misinterpreted were right. To celebrate, I thought I would post the picture below from my Facebook feed - apocalyptic humour at its best...

Weekly World News Apocalypse Prediction.

If you are one of those people who thought the world was going to end and want to know why it didn't happen, NASA have posted a helpful video on YouTube. Check it out at the following link...

Why the World Didn't End Yesterday

In case I don't get around to another blog post before Christmas, have a good one!

HE SHOOTS, HE SCORES!

I received an email the other day informing me that one of my science fiction poems has been accepted for publication in The Fifth Di..., and as you can probably imagine, I am as pleased as punch. For those of you who don't know, The Fifth Di... is a well-respected online magazine, which began life way back in 1995. It is published by Sam's Dot Publishing and can be accessed via the following link...

Sam's Dot Publishing

I will keep you posted about the exact release date of the relevant issue, but as far as I know, it is likely to be in June 2013. If you are a fan of my work, then it is definitely worth checking out, particularly as it's 100% free.

Brontë Sisters Power Dolls!

Still on the subject of action figures (see yesterday's post), check out the spoof commercial at the following link:

Brontë Sisters Power Dolls Commercial

Not only is it hilarious, but it's also a byte sized history lesson. Shame they're not real toys or they would definitely be on our Christmas list. Go Brontës!

☺ Heroes of Science ☺

It probably won't happen in the foreseeable future, but one day, I would love to release a range of action figures based on the characters in my children's novel, The Crystal Ship. In the meantime, take a look at these guys...

Heroes of Science action figures!

It's great to see pioneering scientists honoured in this way, though I don't think they'll be challenging the Star Wars range any time soon. Just think, now we can stage our own battles between Albert Einstein and Erwin Schrödinger. Don't try and tell me that isn't something you'd like to see. Okay, I admit it, they're not really available to buy, but next time I blow out any birthday cake candles, this is what I'm going to wish for, so don't count them out just yet!
