Hunting the Legend – Movie Review

Hunting the Legend

Stars: Christopher Copeland, Hannah Wallace, Jeff Causey

Director: Justin Steeley

IMDB Rating: 3.0

Facebook

Plot: In 2008, a deer hunter was taken by something in the Alabama woods. Only his rifle, blood and a 16″ footprint were left behind… Five years later, his son seeks revenge.

HUNTING-THE-LEGEND

Review: There has been a wave of “found footage films” of late. Films involving ghosts, demons, aliens, abductions, and now Bigfoot… I could only manage to sit and watch the first 20 minute of this badly done film, and that was it for me. I will spare you the turmoil of watching this and just say that the story is about Chris, whose father was allegedly killed and dragged off into the woods during a hunting trip, leaving young Chris scarred for life. Years later, he gathers together a small group of people and venture into the wilderness in search of the legendary Bigfoot.

Boring and tedious is all I can say. Save yourself the time and watch Sharknado 2 instead.

Verdict: Not Another Found Footage P.O.C

My Rating: -10 out of 10.

Sharknado 2: The Second One – Movie Review

Sharknado 2: The Second One

Stars: Tara Reid, Ian Ziering

Director: Anthony C. Ferrante

IMDB Rating: 4.9

Facebook

Plot: A freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished, iconic sites – and only Fin and April can save the Big Apple.

Sharknado 2

Review
: Sharks… What’s worse than getting attacked by sharks in the ocean? Getting attacked by flying sharks! This film seemed to have it all. Three twisters bear down on NYC, stereotypical New Yorkers (play ball!), and sharks!

This B-grade movie was entertaining to say the least, and Ian Zieling’s “shark walk” was priceless… even if it was “borrowed” from a scene from “Live And Let Die” (Except in the Bond film, good ol’ James runs across crocs).

The acting was nothing to write home about, and it probably won’t win an Oscar, but the references to other films (Twilight Series, Terror At 40,000 Feet, Taxi, Airplane) and the cameos from the likes of Judd Hirsch, Kurt Angle made this brilliant! I can only imagine how many outtakes/bloopers they got making this :)

If B-Grade films are your thing, then get down and watch this one.

Verdict: Shark soup anyone? :)

My Rating: 7.4 out of 10.

You’re The Worst (TV Series) – Review

You’re The Worst (TV Series) 2014 -

Stars: Chris Geere, Aya Cash.

IMDB Rating: 7.9

Plot: Centers on two toxic, self-destructive people who fall in love and attempt a relationship.

You're The Worst

Review: You’re The Worst centers on the lives of two self-centered people who manage to get together on a (more or less) Friends With Benefits situation. The premise is very simple: One bitter ex and one friend meet outside a sham of a wedding party, and after some small talk they get down and dirty.

The pilot episode shows some of the filthiest sex scenes ever to hit TV, and is definitely not a show that is for everyone. With the graphic sex scenes, it does make the show borderline porn, but it does have some funny moments, as what starts out as a FWB situation, soon starts to develop into something more with the second episode.

The show starts out like most new relationships would. The sex is hot and steamy, filled with sweat and no shame :) By time the second episode comes around, the relationship between Jimmy (Geere) and Gretchen (Cash), starts to develop into something more than “casual sex”.

The characters are funny and developed to a point, and it will be interesting to see just how far the relationship between Jimmy and Gretchen will go. (He doesn’t want a relationship, she.. Well, she feels guilty about sleeping with other guys).

The show will appeal to those who like to see some good “sassing” between a couple, but just make sure young ones are not in the room when you watch it. ;)

Verdict: Friends With Benefits… ;)

My Rating: 6.5 out of 10

A Haunted House 2 – Movie Review

A Haunted House 2

Facebook Page

Plot: Crossing new lines and breaking old barriers, A HAUNTED HOUSE 2 is the sequel to the hilarious box-office hit starring Marlon Wayans as Malcolm who, after exorcising the demons of his ex, is starting fresh with his new girlfriend and her two children. After moving into their dream home, Malcolm is once again plagued by bizarre paranormal events. With spine-tingling tension and hilarious punch-lines A HAUNTED HOUSE 2 is inspired by the latest supernatural horror movie franchises and shows that this time… it’s not just the house that’s haunted!

Review: In any review I write, I do try to be objective and see some good qualities in the storyline of a film or tv show. Some films I have seen have been downright terrible, but have some form of redeeming quality. “Spoof” movies are meant to be funny, such as some of the ones the late Leslie Neilsen starred in), and some earlier ones of the Wayan brothers (Scary Movie). But this film I did find it hard to sit and watch through to the end.

This movie was not funny on any level, and I am amazed that this thing cost 3.5 Million to produce. The film is filled with the typical swearing every other word, grotesque scenes of Wayans performing sex acts on a wooden doll, and dick appearing in the mouth of the teenage daughter – just to name a few.

Without a doubt, this was the worst movie of 2014 I have seen yet.

Verdict: Dry As A Dead Dingos Donger….

My Rating: 0 out of 10.

Glasgow Girls – TV Movie Review

Glasgow Girls (2014)

Stars: Letitia Wright, Olivia Popica, Kirstie Steele, Aruhan Galieva, Hailey Ikunna, Assly Zandry, Effie Scott

Directed by: Brian Walsh

IMDB Rating: 7.7

Facebook

Plot: In 2005 15-year old Agnesa Murselaj and her mother, both Kosovan Roma refugees, are seized in a dawn raid and remanded whilst waiting deportation. Six of Agnesa’s fellow pupils – both immigrant and native Scot – at Drumchapel High School in Glasgow are outraged and fashion a petition to stop proceedings. This grows into a fully-blown campaign to end dawn raids and the incarceration of minors, which the girls take to the Scottish National Parliament, winning huge support along the way and garnering them the Scottish Campaign of the Year award. Agnesa’s expulsion is halted and five years later the girls’ victory is accomplished when the national government puts an end to impromptu raids and the detention in remand centres of minors.

Glasgow Girls

Review: Pre-dawn home raids, detention centers, refugees. This TV movie from the BBC is an inspiring David & Goliath story about a group of schoolgirls from Drumchapel in Scotland who campaigned against the Home Office & the Scottish Government to stop how failed asylum seekers were treated.

Based on the true story, the girls started a campaign to end dawn raids and the incarceration of minors, which the girls take to the Scottish National Parliament, winning huge support along the way. Five years later the girls’ victory is accomplished when the national government puts an end to impromptu raids and the detention in remand centers of minors.

A powerful story with a good cast. It shows that a minority can make a difference… If only the debate on Asylum Seekers could only be that easily changed for the majority…

Verdict: Freedom and Liberty For All…….

My Rating: 8.5 out of 10.

Backpackers (TV Series) – Review

Backpackers (TV Series) 2014 -

Stars – Noah Reid, Dillon Casey, Mishael Morgan

IMDB Rating – 6.0

Plot: In an attempt to get over a serious case of cold feet, Backpackers finds recently engaged Ryan (Noah Reid, Titanic) and Beth (Meghan Heffern, Almost Heroes) embarking on separate European adventures leading up to their wedding. While traveling they are free to act single, adopting the mantra “what happens in Europe, stays in Europe.” But hours into Ryan’s adventure with his party animal and womanizing best friend Brandon (Dillon Casey, Nikita), he realizes he’s made a huge mistake and sets off in search of her. The only problem is he has no idea where she could be – they never exchanged itineraries. This marks the start of a wild adventure that takes the duo to the Amalfi coast, Rome, Berlin, Prague and Paris as they search for Beth, try to avoid an annoying Aussie, dodge a homicidal maniac and fit in a little action on the way

Backpackers

Review: Comedy – good comedy – is an art form and not one that can be mastered by just anyone. This new series on the CW network is an example of comedy that is – to be frank – boring. The series tells the tale of an engaged couple (Beth and Ryan – played by Meghan Heffern & Noah Reid), who decide to have an all out, no holes barred, do anything you want, teen vacation romp fest. (Separately of course)

We have seen this scenario before. Guy has issues about his fiancee sleeping with other guys (which she probably wont because of her “values”, making him look like a real jerk, then they’ll make up in the usual teen soppy kissy-face way… sheesh); His Bestie is a party hard guy who will lead him astray to get on with other girls… You know the rest. Unlimited supply of alcohol, sleezy girls, and of course not to forget the stereotyped Aussie surfer “dude”, complete with the stereotyped bad Aussie accent.

I’m sure the show will eventually pick up, but as for me, I found it predictable and repetitive.

Verdict: Good Grief.. Not another Teen Romp Sleaze Fest

My Rating: 1 out of 10.
