Loch Long Crime Writing Residency

I have returned from my two week residency at Cove Park with lots written and batteries recharged.

It was a real privilege to stay in such an incredible and beautiful place. Endlessly inspiring and miraculously peaceful. (The pictures don’t do it justice!)

I owe a massive thanks to Alexia Holt, Alex Marrs and the whole Cove Park team for a brilliant time, and their Argyll Patron who funds the Loch Long Crime Writing Residency. (Loch) Long may it continue!

It was also lovely to be ar...

Massive thanks to Cove Park’s Argyll Patron whose support makes this residency possible.

Read SECRET INGREDIENTS on SF Caledonia

Lovely to see one of my old short stories get a fresh airing, this time on the website SF Caledonia.

SF Caledonia is a new online home for Scottish sci fi created by Shoreline of Infinity co-founder Noel Chidwick with the aim of being, “a space for Scotland to show off its talented community of science fiction/ speculative fiction/fantasy writers to the world – and beyond.”

And I’m really proud that Secret Ingredients has landed there after first being published in Shoreline in 2019.

Read FOREVER IN SCOTLAND in the Glasgow Review of Books

My Glasgow cyberpunk short story FOREVER IN SCOTLAND has been reprinted by the Glasgow Review of Books as part of its ‘Future Glasgow’ series!

Set in a future where life can be extended forever (if you have the money), Scotland has banned all forms of immortality, physical and digital, following a violent revolution. Hacker Dana, in a fix and desperate for funds, takes on a risky mission to rob information from the country’s leading business Clan – her own family.

Forever in Scotland was f...

Granite Noir 2024: Award Winners @ The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen, 25 Feb, 5pm

Really happy to be returning to Granite Noir this year, first time since 2020!

Four years ago, about a week or so before the first lockdown kicked in, I was one of the festival’s ‘Locals in the Limelight’ (I lived in Aberdeenshire at the time) and read a short story before a panel event with the excellent Sarah Lotz and CM Ewan.

Now, four years on, I’m back, but as an author on a panel this time! So exciting!

I’ll be chatting with Sophie White and DV Bishop about winning awards (I ...
